  1. It took me one hour to get from Suk to 2nd Road yesterday! There were cars parked on both sides. Do police only work on February 29th?
  2. Now why would she feel the need to do this? Usually after a spate of bad news involving tourists, it's an honest taxi driver who restores Pattaya's reputation.
  3. Now I understand why I never see them on the roads. Pattaya was in total gridlock yesterday. I was caught up in it for two hours. I saw ONE officer riding his motorbike on his way to lunch seemingly.
  4. On holiday in Sri Lanka we got a reduction in the bill at a 5* hotel after complaining about the noise. We've learned to use Google Maps now when booking holidays.
  5. Som Tam is used as a contraceptive all over Thailand. Most bar girls eat this when they want a three day holiday from sex. I've walked past bars because I could smell it 40 yards upwind.
  6. And joined the other turds in the bay.
  7. They ignore them as they no action will be taken; they do not know them because they've never been enforced. Wearing a seatbelt in UK took months of fines before the message got through; how many lives since have been saved by this police enforcement? Here, something as simple and obvious as not wearing a helmet is ignored adding to the daily slaughter. 99% of riders wear helmets in Vietnam because they have a police force.
  8. Most dogs littering the streets of Pattaya don't have owners. Those that do couldn't care less if their pet bites children; runs wild causing accidents; defecates anywhere & everywhere! (Many of the owners still wear masks to show how much they care about health & hygiene.)
  9. So the invisible Pattaya police sat back and the miscreant handed himself in: then the BIB reap praise for this attitude to policing?
  10. I would say the major cause of fatalities is the failure of 'authorities' to implement the traffic laws.
  11. Thank you, Henk. Watched E1 last night.
  12. It would have been more accurate to say 'thousands come here.'
  13. With this and - French-man-brutally-attacked-by-thai-bolt-driver-in-Pattaya Japanese-tourist-injured-in-Pattaya-roadside-assault that's 3 nails in the last 48 hours.
  14. I post this 'Néro the Assassin' and search HD-TV shows and get this 'No results returned'. What am I doing wrong?
  15. I note they are 8 episodes in, yet I can't find any on TPB?
  16. All farang owners should beware; every house comes with a possible death sentence!
  17. The related stories have French and Japanese victims. This one sounds Vietnamese?
  18. I think the likely cause & so he should suffer the full penalty for disrupting so many others' enjoyment.
  19. Another nail in the coffin of Pattaya's tourism industry.
  20. I doubt his dog story; it's something he told the police. I bet he's living the high life having once given his mother some dosh.
  21. I think you will agree that everything here is overcomplicated leading to poor productivity/service. 98% employment means overmanning leaving Thai workers two choices; 1. just take the money; 2. desperately seek to please. (Check out any Thaiwatsadu store.) Banking & Immigration are two areas where rules vary from office to office, even from officer to officer. This leads to haphazard degrees of success/dissatisfaction. Few people voice their satisfaction; most vocal are the dissatisfied. This has a knock-on effect when people are considering holiday choices. Reputation is all. At the moment Thailand's is low; Vietnam's high. TripAdvisor exists for this reason. Cost is also a factor when deciding on holiday destinations. The 300b levy will be introduced in time for the High season. People are making this decision now. Thai hotels are pricing themselves out of consideration. Alcohol prices are at least 50% cheaper in Vietnam; the people eager to please, rather like Thailand was when I first came to live here 22 years ago. On a microcosmic scale, my daughter/S-i-L have chosen Vietnam for a two week holiday in January being able to afford the 5* hotel prices. Myself/spouse will be joining them. Of course, despite my multi-entry re-entry permit, I will still have to fill in a TDAC; then for my next 90 day report, I will be forced to re-submit the usual copied pages of data, (which has hardly changed in decades) by visiting Soi 5 in person, knowing that the small forest I have already submitted, is merely rotting away or being recycled for more overcomplicated procedures.
  22. RBS not only refuse to send me a new card, they do not recognise Thai phones. When it was 1st decided Thailand was LOS(cams) they never informed me and left me and my affairs in a perilous situation.
