  1. Which told me I had just been scammed out of 1800 UKP. I am 82 on a frozen UK pension. You might be able to shrug this off nonchalantly, but I couldn't; it also meant my family holiday had gone up in smoke. 'I have a full transcript of their failures which went on for over an hour in which I was told I was not in their system despite giving them my booking reference; the ticket numbers I provided were not recognised;' it was not a phone call but a series of texts from a helpline, each one seemingly confirming they did not have my money & my tickets were worthless. Wouldn't you have felt a teensy bit put out?
  2. They do the jobs, Thais feel are beneath them.
  3. Another 12 year old on a motor bike! Presumably with no licence or insurance? Kinyara?
  4. What a lovely description of the police's idleness and ignorance of the daily death toll.
  5. How does one play snooker amid all that rubbish with dogs interrupting your concentration?
  6. My comment was about Thai drivers' penchant for ignoring such niceties as tax disc (insurance); and licences which is one of the most popular avoidance in road crimes. It might also interest you to know that over 90% of traffic fines are unpaid. (Guess which nationality is most responsible for this.) If you run your eye down the responses, you might just notice your reply is out of step with most farang contributions.
  7. So less than 2 months ago he had been arrested in possession of a gun. Why was he back on the scene of the crime?
  8. Like the 1000 baht no-helmet fine, it will just fade into oblivion to be resuscitated near month's end.
  9. Could you PM me his email please.
  10. Sounds like proper police work; not the usual 'acting on information received' SOP. A rare compliment for Pattaya Plod.
  11. A really stern stance would be the confiscation/destruction of any boat involved in people smuggling. No boats = no illegal immigrants.
  12. Journalism = Stating the Bleedin' obvious.
  13. Pattaya police will go to extraordinary lengths to curry favour with the public.
  14. from the employers of these illegals to save on the wage bill.
  15. Why would a Bangladeshi have 200 Ringit + 800 Singapore dollars?
  16. In the past I have been to Phyathai and always received good treatment. This year I tried to book an appointment and started getting messages & phone calls from India! I remember there used to be a very competent farang in charge but he's obviously been replaced.
  17. The Chakri Naruebet, is the Thai aircraft carrier with no aircraft. This decrepit hulk is now moored in the harbour at Sattahip. It is advertised on Tripadvisor – ‘For Thai citizens only and have to check before going because the ship is still active and go out for operations sometime.’ Not sure when it was 1st acquired nor when it last took to the seas.
  18. Agreed. You go through security at BKK & land anywhere. Surely you are already sanitised and, if kept separate from locals, should not need further scrutiny. I stopped going through Taipei because this 2nd scrutiny added too much hassle to my trip.
  19. The signs are meant to confuse motorists so the police can extract on-the-spot fines.
  20. Try Vietnam - all beers 50% cheaper than their Thai equivalents.
