    heard it on the Grapevine that Samui might be gearing it's self up as the New Ibiza of Asia

    As the Island of Ibiza only last's during the European summer months, the rest of the year, the DJ's and the paarty crowd need somewhere to be, and samui looks like it is being pinpointed !

    Why

    Endless Beaches for clubs and parties, 24hr drinking laws, no planning / music regulations ... it could be BIG !

    Pacha, Cream , Ministry of Sound all opening up here? , plus the beach side clubs Cafe Del Mar ... , some of the places are here already !,

    Would this be a golden ticket for Samui to be on the tourist map ? for tourists and anyone connected to making a living YES, to expats and beach lovers, NO , would be a living hell

    What do you think?

    Have To Pay For Road Works

    the friends in question,are local people thai,there rice farmers,not very well of,and can well do with out the cost of the works, or the worry there having in there aged years that there home and gardens are now prone to flooding

    would local contractors stoop so low as to either trick these people or even ask for money,knowing there local and not so well off,30.000 bt dose seem a low estimate to plant these under ground sewers,or would local contractors know thats the limit these people could afford to pay,,,either way,its there life savings,pay up or get flooded out,,what choice do they have,, i have the feeling they are concerned not to rock the boat with the road contractors,

    thanks for the advice,i will ask my friend to speak there corner at the local office,,

    yes .... morals are not teached in most parts of thailand ... its all about money

    I like what you say to me about samui . I know you say for real and is obvious you are expert on samui

    I think you wrong about all bargirls are for take all my money !!!!.

    I have often go Lamai and Green Mango etc. This is about 6pm-7pm so because is early I know they not drunk. I have many girl call me handsome and I think that must be true, but I am too shy to acknowledge this.

    I think because I dress nice in top brand Armani T-shirt, nice shorts with crease on front (and back and sides sometimes) and have good quality flippy-floppy I always have many beautiful girls like come talk to me as soon as I sit down. (I think they know good man when they see one).

    I like talk to them about home, their aspirations for the future, family life in quaint old village, world politics and micro-economics. They are ALWAYS interested, I not joking. These girls understand intelligence. (There was one time when a girl close her eyes and slide off bar-stool but when she get up from floor she explain she sick.......she get better fast though after I buy Vodka)

    I know many girl like dancing here, I think is culture thing they dance with pole...............maybe some ancient rite from village stick I think.

    Often I wonder about small clothes but they explain is very hot here and they not want have sweat on body so they always smell good. I understand this. I not stupid.

    I do not like to boast but often I take a girl home after only talking for maybe 20 minutes. (I have secret conversation that make them interest in me.....but I cannot say what it is because then you know how to do)

    I have NEVER had pay for have sex. They want to do because I handsome and have secret conversation. ( I tell them they beautiful and they always giggle and say thank you.......no man ever say before. ) See? Is easy !

    I always offer to give money for taxi in morning. (Its polite). I think many of the girls I meet must come from same village far away down the south of Samui because taxi money is near always 1000 baht. But is no problem.

    I like Samui very much. I think soon I will marry a girl here and take good care her. (Often I naughty and have many girls but I will never say to girl I like.............it is my secret.

    I think what many tourist here forget is that Samui have many historical buildings. (That means old). Last night I saw place called "Dream Girls". It has been here a very long time and many people go inside to look.

    I think some expats say Samui have Sexy Massage Parlour ? Wow. I here 5 week now and I never know. See? Learning something new Samui every day.

    I am coming to the island next week and I would like to know whether 3G is available so I could use my iPad and IPhone. If so what would be the best to buy and where could I buy it

    THE BEST what to buy?? No sort of G at all here - best you can do is EDGE.

    At the airport they sometimes hand out Phone Cards, are those useful or are they expensive in use?

    Have no idea what these cards are are but my instinct says do not touch. Some sort of Phone Card, I guess ;) . Whatever it is at the airport tourist rips-offs, you can get it cheaper somewhere else at 20% of the price.

    However are there prepay or top up cards of any kind available in Micro Sim for IPhone?

    Come here with your Ithings and find places where there is WiFi. Use this. WiFi is good and is the best UR gonna get right now! :whistling:

    But yes, Starcandle is quite right. Take the whole bag to Teso AIS close to Fuji Japanese restaurant, and ask for Khun Nam Waan, the Regional Manager for AIS. Speaks perfect English, is right up to date with what's available, and will no doubt understand exactly what U want and be able to help you with different options and tarrifs . . .

    ... but remember if your hardware is locked to an SP like Verizon or TT&T then you are on a loser if you want to go down this path . . .

    just to update from this post,

    The sim cards at the airport are probably the only thing there that isnt a Con or Rip off !, they are supplied by True, and come with 50 THB top up

    New phones now run on Micro Sims, i have new nokia which is micro sim, but you have to get these sims from a retailer

    But to the OP, dont expect the Speed you get at the moment, samui, and thailand, isnt 3G yet.... shocking i know !

    but the russians do appear to have short tempers, and this is nothing compared to what have seen them do there kids !!!

    Really ? What a statement Boater. To the OP there are so many places to eat on Samui , especially seafood.

    Perhaps get out of the tourist trap areas Chaweng & Lamai , drive arounf to Bang Po & Ban Tai or Tong Krut.

    Koh Samui does not start & stop @ Chaweng.

    opps , didnt really mean it in that context, sorry Rooo , but agree , there are other places to go, but it is these places that give other places bad names !,

    maybe we should start a resturant review thread so this doesnt happen again :lol:

    According to the Royal Thai Police, in 2010, there were 83,261 reported road traffic accidents in Thailand

    so lets double that figure then with all the unreported crashes

    So far this year 17 British nationals have died in road traffic accidents in Thailand and a further 36 have been seriously injured

    where did they get these states from? , i know 3 people whom have died this year who are british, and that is People i know in a very small area of Thailand ! , also only 36 seriosly injured ? , maybe for a month !

    Thousands of male Facebook users have registered their disgust at being completely unaffected by a virus that has been displaying images of hardcore pornography in news feeds.

    Technology site ZDnet claimed that the linkspam virus was affecting hundreds of thousands of users, leaving the vast majority entertained for literally hours.

    “I thought the idea of a virus was that everyone caught it, you know, like a cold that gets passed about the office,” said regular Facebook user Matthew Tyke.

    “I’d have hoped that any security flaw present in Facebook’s software that spread free images of hardcore pornography would have let all users could experience the benefit of such an over sight?”

    “But here I am looking at photos of Sally’s baby and something about what Roger had for lunch. This is simply unacceptable.”
