  1. Local kids have probably been 'playing' in there for years
  2. How come it took them so long to catch this guy? Surely he renewed his passport every 10 years like everyone else?
  3. Best to do 1 year without residence I think and liquidate and remit enough assets during this non resident year to last the following 5 to 10 years. I'm going to check this with an acountant prior to leaving for 6.5 months next year.
  4. I'm going to purchase a new computer at some point in the next year, it's going to be a very heavy duty powerful beast of a machine. Now I could wire the money to my bank account here and spend the 250k-300k Baht on the overpriced components from a Thai computer store to build it here or order the lot from Amazon.com in the US which will work out considerably cheaper even with VAT/Duty on the import and put it all on my UK credit card. Lets assume it's 300k Baht in total. Do I declare this foreign spending on a foreign card as income in the form of computer parts? I am going to pay the UK credit card off with UK income and I clear the entire card balance every month. What if next month I decide to buy a Patek Philippe watch over the internet and mail it in? They cost a bit more.
  5. This is not the first time someone has had their arm cut off in a dispute in Thailand, I do recall this happening before but strangely when I went to the internet to look for the story it was no longer there.
  6. Yes, I bet they're eager. You know they're sales agents earning a big chunk of commission from the Elite package sales whereas they would make nothing or almost nothing on the other options - this is why Elite is 'best for you' according to them. I have an Elite visa and it's great but I got it when I was early 40's so there was no other option. You're both over 50, get a 'retirement' visa and don't bother with agents and if you're really interested in the Elite visa go direct to them.
  7. I never use Edge, I removed the icon and then proceed to use Firefox and Chrome, depending on what I'm doing. The Edge files are still on my hard drive - but so what? Who cares? I never use it.
  8. I wonder if they match the name on the ID with the actual account or will they still allow random people to pay cash into your account - quite likely I would think. But they keep track of who it is!
  9. Just one question, why does it say this at the top left corner of the video : Where in Thailand is this?
  10. Hong King 'in kind' Bitcoin ETF approvals are expected pretty soon. I believe they are targeted at the Chinese market and allow direct exposure via brokerage accounts. It has been notoriously hard to purchase Bitcoin in China at some times over the last few years, with this new development, if approved it will allow the Chinese to gamble their money on Bitcoin through their brokerage accounts. I heard the Chinese love that sort of thing.....
  11. Local outrage - what nonsense, now national action? What is a crackdown on foreigners? Are they going to hassle us in the malls? 🤣
  12. That's the language of the street criminal, did you learn this from TV or is it something you've lived?
  13. I'm about to check out '3 Body Problem' which is on Netflix since Thursday. No idea if it's any good yet but I will soon!
  14. It's about whether that money is 'assessable income' - not just remitted. Credit cards are borrowed money, so is an overdraft. Much remains unclear. For example if the credit card was paid off with money from before Jan 1, 2024 is it still considered income or earnings / assessable. This whole thing is a minefield, at least for the first few years. Does using a foreign credit card which is paid off using fully taxed 'old savings' and non assessable income convert it to earnings?
  15. Yes, I think me and the brother/sister all had it as well but that was a very long time ago back in the 1970s. I know it's something that is routinely vaccinated against these days. Also I know this whooping cough outbreak which seemed to begin last year has now gone global, it's everywhere. If you search the news there are many reports from all around the world and they're recent.
  16. There were lots of reports in various places around the world of what they call the 'hundred day cough' which is apparently nothing more than a nickname for an old infection commonly known as 'whooping cough' or pertussis. These reports started late last year but have really surged recently. It is bacterial in nature and it's going around right now. I would imagine that most of us are vaccinated against it already but who knows.
  17. Lets sit back and watch him reverse everything the current 'finance minister / PM' changed.
  18. Which is odd as you do that after the end of the current tax year, so nothing will have been declared for the current year, especially if it's this time of year.
  19. Well that's a funny way of putting it, the guy was dead and he intervened bringing him back - lets hope there's not too much brain damage.
  20. They're ramping up for the 1 day of songkran that we have each year here in Hua Hin.
