  1. That right there is the problem and I suspect it will affect a lot of people Because this is something the traveller faces due to no action on their part I wonder if they can demand refunds or make insurance claims. I'm beginning to understand why British Airways made their decision to change Bangkok to Singapore on their schedules.
  2. I've recently started occasionally drinking a cognac in the evening, I used to buy a bottle every now and again when passing through airports some 20 years ago as it was 'cheap' and I remember liking the taste, but as a sipping drink it's not really something for drinking 'down the pub' so much. I like it cold - straight out of the fridge, I don't care what the so called experts say - I don't want it tepid. There's nothing wrong with drinking some 50 to 70ml of something like this and I don't care what they say. If on the other hand if I was a raging alcoholic who drank the whole bottle then they might have a point. I'm beginning to have less and less faith in what these experts warn about over the years.
  3. I blame pope Gregory ????
  4. I've seen a few posts on this topic and I'm curious as to what exactly is going on. I've been using the Thailand Elite visa for some time now and I've never heard of such nonsense from them before although I'm not surprised, they (Thailand Elite) are only a conduit to immigration who seem to make up the rules as they go - so they are just a middle man to process the applications, accept payment and liase with immigration. So what is the issue here? Why are they singling out Volunteer and Education visas here and what's so toxic about these two types of visa that they're refusing people? How about someone had an Education visa 10 years ago, can they not get a TE visa?
  5. Yes, they are nuts. Things will deteriorate very quickly from this point forward. Everyone will be treated equally, especially the Chinese, which in this case has changed the current regulations for everyone to match the so called 'risk profile' of the Chinese. It's complete nonsense, they should just let everyone in and given enough time (in weeks) I believe they will.
  6. I know of a case personally where a friend of mine was ill, his wife and adopted kid were on holiday in Brazil, he lives in Europe. He was ill and they were returning 2 days later, he did multiple test both the home ones and the proper PCR tests and all came back negative so they told him it was just a normal cold or flu type disease. When the wife and kid arrived back they both developed covid and tested positive, he was definitely still ill for over a week but never did test positive - they probably caught it from him but who knows?
  7. There will be a lot of people in your situation sitting in their offices across Europe who are going to be blissfully unaware of this, people who decided not to take a vaccine and then looked down a list of countries where it's not required before booking their flights and Thailand was on the list. If it's introduced as a regulation which is highly debatable then they have a very good chance of ruining their high season.
  8. Elon Musk tweeted this recently and it works just fine : No plugins required, just go to removepaywall.com and enter the link there.
  9. The opposite happened, there was some kind of statute of limitations which was recently removed - and that's how and why they can sue at this time. Considering they were actually wearing clothes at the time I doubt this has much if any chance of success - they're likely working with some kind of litigation financer for a cut of any potential settlement.
  10. I'd like to know the height of the balcony in question.....before they replace it
  11. They should do nothing, absolutely nothing, just allow them in the same as everyone else. I've already read articles over the last few days which mention the exact same variants inside China have already been detected in Europe, etc which means they are going to be here as well. There's nothing to 'keep out' and keeping it out clearly doesn't work, there's also no need to 'slow it down' as covid is raging all over the world right now. If another variant comes then so be it, new variants are the way out of this.
  12. Everyone trying to keep the latest variant out of their country which is absolutely doomed to failure without exception, even China couldn't manage it. Unless you want covid to stay the same then variants are the eventual way out of the covid situation. Remember when the much more harmful Delta was circulating in Europe and the much milder Omicron (perhaps by a factor of 100) emerged from Africa - what did they do - they tried to keep it out and keep Delta instead - the exact opposite of what they should have been doing. If 'they' had their way they would have kept it out and Delta would still be the current version circulating in the Europe area countries.
  13. Lol, it's standard tit for tat diplomacy and has nothing to do with the medical situation. You do realise that the most of the world runs on petty disputes between foreign ministers right? India are especially guilty of this sort of thing
  14. Reciprocity is required here, all Indians must be subject to testing prior to boarding any flights to Thailand. Also make it a type of test which is particularly expensive and require that all original paperwork is presented both in Indian and then separately translated into Thai and notarised at the Embassy - all within 24 hours of the flight ???? The Chinese are coming back now, there's more important things to consider.
  15. They're coming and when they get here there will be an onslaught of new variants....for a while. New variants are however the way out of this mess so maybe it's a good thing. Nothing any government does will make any difference, the virus is clearly in control.
  16. One step away from making them compulsory. I know what they're thinking here, all those Chinese coming without 'proper' vaccines being used - they wll never say it though, so it will be for all.
  17. We've gone full circle, almost three years ago back in early 2020 the first COVID cases arrived here direct from Wuhan. We had a woman patient on holiday from Wuhan in hospital here in Hua Hin with COVID back in January 2020.
  18. Yes, at 50 or above you would indeed qualify for a 'retirement visa'
  19. This problem is caused by money, or should I say a lack of it and the greed of the commerce platforms. Most of these delivery companies are franchises, each one along the chain gets a small cut I heard that the delivering branch can get as low as 8 Baht per package. It's a race to the bottom as they all out compete each other for the business and the commerce platforms keep most of the delivery fee that's paid anyway. Everyone else fights over the scraps. The staff are made to work very long hours and not paid very well by a lot of them. They also have limited space and the delivery routes can be long. This is why there's problems and it won't end, ever.
  20. Quite possible that he needed to go that far forward to get a clear view if anything is coming. Looks like there are signs are barriers which may obscure a clear view of the track - I've see that before.
