Symbicort Turbuhaler making me very hoarse.
poppysdad replied to giddyup's topic in Health and Medicine
I take Anoro which I found slightly more effective than Seretide but still suffer from voice problems. -
My Thai lady and I frequently have a discussion (usually friendly) on various things that I say. If for instance I look skywards and say it looks like rain she fully accepts this as a comment. But, if I simply mutter that I’ve just saved yet another kamikaze motorcyclist from death she immediately tells me to not be so angry to which I reply it’s simply a comment and I’m not in the slightest bit angry. There are many other instances where we get the same problem so is this common among Thais not being able to distinguish between a comment and anger.

Foreign Passport Renewal & Bank
poppysdad replied to mezpow's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Albeit a few years ago but when I went into my Bangkok bank to do a transaction and handed over my passport as usual, after a couple of minutes the assistant returned to me saying my passport was not the same as on their records and therefore could not proceed which she then immediately followed with her asking me if I wanted her to sort for me, which took her just a couple of minutes and she followed up by saying that if went into the bank with any problems the first thing they would ask for would be my passport and if it wasn’t the same as their records they wouldn’t be able to sort my problem. -
New experience with Wise
poppysdad replied to poppysdad's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
No grandpapillon. The delay was in my money from Santander going to Wise which has always been instant in the past. When looking on the help site on Wise it suggested that the reason it had not received my money was due to the banks not transferring money at weekends, I’m well aware that Wise don’t transfer at weekends but I have transferred on a weekend before and not had any delay in my bank sending my money to Wise. -

Problem now resolved as just had notification from Wise that they have received my money. I wonder what the delay was about though. -

grandpapillon, you’ve misunderstood my post. Wise have not received my money although my bank shows that it’s gone. I’m well aware that the transfer from Wise doesn’t happen over the weekend. Its my transfer from bank to Wise that hasn’t happened. -
Around 30 minutes ago I made a transfer with Wise, something I’ve done a great many times without any hassles whatsoever. I made the transfer from my Santander account in the UK to Wise and in the past I get immediate notification that they have received my money. This time all it said and still does is waiting for my money. I rechecked my bank transfer and see nothing wrong with that but going into the help area on Wise it says that banks don’t transfer money over the weekend which is why the delay in receiving it. I’ve simply never had this problem before, is it normal?

She could get AZ/Pfizer for free, what's the problem with that? jackdd. She simply wants what she paid for and why shouldn’t she. Why should someone or some organisations pocket her hard earned money which incidentally is 6600 for her and her daughter. And yes I repeat she is not an anti vaxxer and does want to get her jab.

I live in Hua Hin and have done so for 15 years now but my girlfriend who originates from Chaiyaphum also has a reasonably profitable business in Kampaeng Phet which when she moved in with me passed over the business to her daughter in law to run who has made a dog’s dinner of it all so perhaps to solve the problem she moves back here and I come with her. So, what is it like here. I’ve visited a few times and find I quite like the town but don’t know the ins and outs of the place hence some help with the following would be great. a) In Hua Hin we have 2 immigration outlets plus they tend to be easy to deal with. Where do I go here and are they reasonable or awkward. b) Hua Hin has 3 hospitals plus many good clinics for both specific and general help, as I do have some medical issues what is available here. c) air quality, is it a problem here as one of my issues is COPD and I don’t want to spend my time afraid to go outside for much of the year. d) accommodation, what is available for renting, I’m not looking for a palace but want something that is comfortable for a falang and not at Hua Hin prices. e) is there a falang community here or are we few and far between. Plus anything else you might think would be of use to know or be aware of. Thanks in anticipation of helpful replies.

What a world we live in when it’s almost a necessity to have a smartphone, an email address, a credit card and a Farcebook account.

I think we’ll have different experiences with everything including car dealerships. I can only praise Toyota as just last week up in deepest Issan facing an 8 hour drive home when every direction was flooded but in I went and got a good few kms until one dip in the road brought all the bells and whistles on my chr alive and yet I managed to to a Toyota dealership. They immediately checked my car over and fixed whatever the damages were, supplied us with free coffee and cookies and an hour later proudly told me car now fixed and no charge whatsoever. Brilliant service in my opinion.

I’m sure there must be others in same position as me but my Thai lady is driving me mad with being paranoid about covid. Won’t really go anywhere and if we do she has 2 and sometimes 3 masks on. 2 metre's apart to her means more like 10 metres, she won’t really eat or drink in a cafe/restaurant because it means removing her mask even reluctant to visit friends for much the same reason. I have a good friend who I have not seen in a long time as his wife is exactly the same. So how are others coping, trying to persuade your partners to be a little more relaxed about it all.

I had a minor accident a few months ago, the passenger in the other car immediately blamed it all on me and started ranting at me, it was a stupid accident with a 50/50 blame but eventually a traffic policeman arrived and listened to both parties, then a more important policeman arrived in a car at which point as he spoke excellent English i told him the lady passenger who simply could not have seen what happened and someone told me that she was trying to get damage fixed which had no part of this accident at all he simply smiled at me and said she has no chance. Then our insurance man arrived and it appeared that they had the same company as me which simplified things and he told me that the driver wished to apologise to me for his mothers attitude to which we shook hands and went on our separate ways. So the police were honest, the other driver was honest but his passenger who turned out to be his mother was in my opinion was simply a crook.

I have COPD, and a mask does make breathing very difficult for me as does the fogging of glasses etc. when I walk around the town or malls, Tesco etc I’m breathing heavily quite quickly. Get back to our development and I can walk around with the dog without a mask and my breathing is hardly affected. And yes I’ve tried the cheap and cheerful up to 2000 baht for a mask and all much of a muchness. I’m more likely to die with my mask than without it.

Hua Hin recharge - resort to open on October 1st
poppysdad replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
Going out for dinner tomorrow night with friends but of course no alcohol with our meal and must be home before 9pm. But we will have to make the best of we can as it might well be the last meal out for a very long time. And why on earth would you come as a tourist to face all of the latest restrictions here in Hua Hin. -
British Chamber Of Commerce Offering Vaccines to All
poppysdad replied to UKJASE's topic in Health and Medicine
It seems to me that a great many people here fully expect everything to come to them, to be available on their doorstep, heaven help them if they have to venture out to get something they want or need. On the day we went to Bangkok to get our jabs we were surprised at how many from Hua Hin were there and not one complained about having to travel to do it even though it was basically a day out of our life. If you choose to live away from major centres then you have to be prepared to travel to get what you need or want. -

Why doctor Tom do you assume it’s the Thai government financing it and not claiming the praise for doing so. -

In my experience, Jina at the BCCT bends over backwards to be helpful, myself and my good friend registered with them about 4 weeks ago and had our jabs 2 weeks later. Whilst there we asked if our Thai ladies could also receive a jab, and the reply was to register them and within a week they plus my partners niece got appointments for last Thursday and we drove oncer again from Hua Hin and they were also impressed with how well it is all organised and they even supply travel permits for people like us who have to travel through a few provinces to get there. I would give them 12 out of 10 for everything and feed back from others who made the trips say likewise.
