billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And you know this how? Do you know them personally? Did you go ton the trial that they didn't get? If you claim something, why not at least try to back it up with facts or a link. -

Thaksin Dismisses US Sanctions Over Uyghur Deportations

Why should he be worried? His country is Thailand. BTW, he does have a proper name which is Thaksin. Perhaps one of his screen names s Tony. Is watchcat your real name or simply an alias? And which is your country of origin, since you seem to be questioning Thaksin's? -
I wonder what has happened to Trump's claim that he will end the Ukraine war in 24 hours, or is that a forbidden (by Trump) subject nowadays? https://www.euronews.com/2025/03/15/trump-says-he-was-a-bit-sarcastic-when-he-claimed-he-could-end-the-war-in-ukraine-in-24-ho US President Trump claimed he wasn't being serious when he repeatedly claimed he could end the war in Ukraine in 24-hours during his presidential campaign. https://apnews.com/article/trump-russia-ukraine-war-solved-f51b96e4e690341caee65358bcbab1fa Trump says he was being a ‘bit sarcastic’ when he promised to end Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours President Donald Trump speaks to reporters during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House in Washington, Thursday, March 13, 2025. (Pool via AP) President Donald Trump speaks to reporters during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House in Washington, Thursday, March 13, 2025. (Pool via AP) By MICHELLE L. PRICE Updated 8:49 AM GMT+7, March 15, 2025 Share WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump said Friday that he was “being a little bit sarcastic” when he repeatedly claimed as a candidate that he would have the Russia-Ukraine war solved within 24 hours — and even before he even took office. Trump was asked about the vow he repeatedly made on the campaign trail during an interview for the “Full Measure” television program as his administration is still trying to broker a solution 54 days into his second term. “Well, I was being a little bit sarcastic when I said that,” Trump said in a clip released ahead of the episode airing Sunday. “What I really mean is I’d like to get it settled and, I’ll, I think, I think I’ll be successful.” It was a rare admission from Trump, who has a long record of making exaggerated claims. https://www.wsj.com/video/watch-trump-says-as-president-hed-settle-ukraine-war-within-24-hours/0BCA9F18-D3BF-43DA-9220-C13587EAEDF2 There are many more links saying similar things. IMHO, Trump as usual, was simply shooting his mouth of with no idea what he was talking about.

I am just reading Spike Milligan's series of his part in WW2. A very interesting story. I am on book 4 of 5 where the Allies are fighting their way up from the toe of Italy. They are not are history of WW2 as much as a personal recollection of what really happened during that time.

U.S. Visa Sanctions Target Thai Officials Over Uyghur Deportation

The USA is whining about 40 Uyghurs being deported from Thailand to China. This is one way the USA deports illegal aliens. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp9yv1gnzyvo -
It is also cheaper to buy, far cheaper to use per flying hour, needs far less maintenance and is not reliant on fixed airbases which are vulnerable in a war situation. Spares are cheaper and it cannot be "switched off" by the USA.

Not of course that Riclag would be biased in any way against, in his own words "the left wing". -

It would be interesting if the US-based Freedom House did a survey and a poll on the USA now, especially if the pollsters were non white and women or of Hispanic origin. I suspect that the USA would get a lower rating than Thailand. -
I am 80 with osteo arthritis in both kneecaps. I found exercises for the elderly on the UK NHS website. I spend about an hour a day doing 5 exercises at home, and take an exercise day off. usually once every 7 to 10 days. No gym fees, and I can stop at any time my body gives me a warning. I have been doing it for 2 or 3 years, but I got lazy and took 6 months off last year. This year I started again back at the beginning and it is harder to do than before I stopped. Some links if anybody is interested. UK Government Pensions Exchange Rate
billd766 replied to Daffy D's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
I do a daily forex rate check on KBank, Bangkok bank, Wise UK where my pensions are sent to and XE simply as another reference. KBank is usually the worst followed by Bangkok bank. Both are lower than Wise, but when I transfer from Wise to BKK bank I get a better exchange rate, and XE is simply another reference. -
Thai Opposition Agrees to Avoid Thaksin's Name in Debate

I would far rather send to jail ALL the generals still hanging around who committed illegal military coups over the years, who actually DID commit crimes of treason by overthrowing legally elected governments, and who have NEVER been punished. -

Who am I? I am a nobody, but a nobody that cares about other people. The real question is who are you? A nobody like me, but a nobody who doesn't seem to care about the realities of life or the feelings of other people. You also seem to be a person who jumps to any conclusion instantly without waiting for any further information to be released. -

This week my wife bought me a 70g bar of dark Dubai style chocolate with Pistachio (probably from 7/11). When I opened the box it looked as though the chocolate had melted so I popped it into the fridge. Whilst it solidified the chocolate, I had to use a sharp knife to cut it into 4 parts and I ate 1 per day. That was the first chocolate I have had in years.

Thai Opposition Agrees to Avoid Thaksin's Name in Debate
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
ON what grounds? AFAIK Thaksin has not committed any crime, alleged or real, nor has he been charged or taken to court. Would you feel the same, if someone protected by parliamentary privilege, alleged that YOU had committed a crime and should be sent to jail without being allowed a defence in court? -

AFAIR, any MP in the house is protected by parliamentary privilege and can say more or less what they like without fear of civil prosecution. As Thaksin is not an elected MP he would not be allowed in the house, nor would he be protected by parliamentary privilege. He would not be allowed by law to defend himself against any accusation, true of false, brought by he opposition, nor could he take any opposition MP to court, simply because they ARE protected by parliamentary privilege. -
Even RCP Polling Average has Trump in Negative Territory

Does anybody but you believe that ALL polls are fake, except the polls that favour Trump which are the ones you obviously believe in?
