Biden’s APEC no-show seen as a blow to Thai government’s credibility

Perhaps he is happier in the company of his family rather than that of coup makers and countries leaders, who speak different things out of both sides of their their mouths. As for ASEAN, all they are is an expensive talking shop. They have NEVER been a doing shop. They must always end in a face saving compromise. If Thailand wants to support China or the USA it is up to them. What they cannot do is support both China and the USA equally. It has to be one side, or the other, or neither. IMHO, the time for fence sitting is over. -
Mystery leaks hit Russian undersea gas pipelines to Europe

Actually there is no "WE", but there is you, and if you believe that you are speaking of most people worldwide, then you are completely wrong. You are certainly not speaking for me. The only lessons that EX president Trump could give is how to spin 30,xxx lies in 4 years, and how to lose an election. -

A link to the ships of the Ukrainian Navy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_Ukrainian_Navy_ships I am not sure how a Ukrainian Navy could sail undetected by anybody. It would have to sail through the Black Sea, through the Bospherus Straights, Istanbul, through the sea of Marmara, into the Mediterranean sea, through the Straights of Gibraltar, into the Atlantic, the Bay of Biscay, and either through the English Channel into the North Sea, or around Ireland and back into the North Sea, through the Straights of Denmark and then into the Baltic Sea. The Ukraine doesn't actually have ANY submarines or depot ships so they would have to use surface ships along with supply ships and it would take a fair amount of time to get there. Not to mention applying for permissions from various countries whose waters they would travel through. -

In Thailand it is the guy with the most guns, the same in Myanmar. -
IIRC a squeezy/squirty bottle of water with some ammonia in it is a fair response to a soi dog attack. The %age of water to ammonia is a trial by error, too much and you could blind the dog, not enough and it would be a waste of time as the dog will still bite you. I think that after a while the dogs will get to know you , leave you alone and find an easier target.

Bank of England raises rates to 2.25%, despite likely recession

The UK was declining long before the 2008 crisis and has continued since then. There does not seem to be ANY political party in the UK who is capable in any way to restoring the UK to as it was perhaps 40 years ago. I could go back to the 1960s when the unions were dictating to the Labour government what they wanted and that they would make it happen going back to Harold Wilson's first government. You would have to go back to 1905 to 1922 when the last Liberal government was in power. Since 1922 there has always been either a Conservative or Labour government apart from WW2 which was mostly Conservative even then. Since then it has been Buggin's turn next between both parties. Each has promised many things and both lots have failed the UK people. Soon it will be Buggin's turn again for a while. Will it be any better than it is now. IMHO, yes for some and not really for the majority. If only there was a spot on the ballot paper saying "I wouldn't vote for any of them". That would be a sure fire winner. -

Would that be because Gordon Brown did so well with the UK when he was Chancellor and PM, before Labour was booted out the last time? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premiership_of_Gordon_Brown Do you remember this? https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-politics-24173270 As outgoing chief secretary to the Treasury following Labour's defeat in the 2010 general election, Liam Byrne famously left a note to his successor saying: "Dear Chief Secretary, I'm afraid that there is no money. Kind regards and good luck." https://www.buzzfeed.com/emilyashton/byrne-baby-byrne When Liberal Democrat MP David Laws became Treasury chief secretary in May 2010, his new private secretary handed him a sealed envelope. “Here’s something your predecessor left for you,” the civil servant said. Laws opened it with interest. “Dear Chief Secretary,” he read. “I’m afraid that there is no money. Kind regards and good luck! Liam.” Five years on, the hastily scrawled missive from Labour frontbencher Liam Byrne is still dominating the political agenda. For the Tories and Liberal Democrats, it's the perfect symbol of Labour’s supposed spending spree in office, which, they say, hugely inflated the deficit and precipitated the financial crisis. The note is mentioned by David Cameron and Nick Clegg in speech after speech, ministers relentlessly refer to it on TV, and parliamentary candidates rail against it at public meetings. The Conservatives never miss a chance to tweet about it. And you think that Labour should be back in power? -

It worked back then but it is a bit dirty now. Rinse and repeat. -
The time to do this is when reforms and corruption in the police, military and civil service are fixed and projects like this can invest ALL of its budget on the project and NOT lose 30% or more to corruption.

Thaksin Wonders If Prawit Would Be Happy With Prayut’s Possible Comeback
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
IMHO, Thaksin would be welcomed in Thailand and be a far better alternative than the current mob who, over the course of the last 8 years, have led Thailand into the twilight zone and disaster area. This is, of course why he is the current government's #1 bogey man. Really? If Thaksin were in Thailand were in Thailand and there was a relatively free and fair election, who do you think would win it? Thaksin and his party, or Prayuth and the PPRP. Please remember that our opinions don't count, as only Thais can vote.- 13 replies
