  1. I agree. No reason to own a motorised vehicle in LOS UNLESS one lives in Lamphun, where the public transport is almost non existent. To get to where I could take public transport to Chiang Mai I needed a m'bike. No taxi service.
  2. Can't read that link as I will not go on any link that requires me to agree to their rules or accept cookies.
  3. France loves their nuclear power generation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power_in_France Since the mid 1980s, the largest source of electricity in France is Nuclear power, with a generation of 379.5 TWh in 2019 and a total electricity production of 537.7 TWh.[1] In 2018, the nuclear share was 71.67%,[2] the highest percentage in the world.[3]
  4. Carry on without me.
  5. Oh dear, you guys that can't see the romance in train travel............... No need to hire a car at destinations either- local public transport is cheap, or hire a tour guide and van for the day. I loved travel by train in LOS, and every trip is a treasured memory. See the real Thailand up close.
  6. I thought the historical ruins north of Ayutthaya were better ( don't remember the name, but well known ). Far less tourists cluttering up the place.
  7. I lived in Lamphun and I wouldn't class it as famous for anything ( except a very old temple ), never mind the totty.
  8. Most affordable? Perhaps there isn't much to spend money on, LOL.
  9. Disagree 100%. My entire life was about doing things, till I couldn't.
  10. Indeed, but my question was did he die young because he was a bad guy, or was it just a freak accident?
  11. It's best to create a special e mail when posting on that sort of web site- one that one can ignore the spam on.
  12. It's more regretting the things I didn't do, and not being able to do them now, than the things that happened.
  13. I was 70+ and my expenses were the same as when I was 30 years younger ( in LOS ). Costs of bar life went down, but cost of rent and food increased and more doctor visits, so balanced out.
  14. Never get involved in a domestic, IMO. Seems it never works out well for the one interfering.
  15. While I agree with your post about not getting involved, foreigners have been involved with Siam for hundreds of years. They had foreign mercenaries, if Thai historical movies are anything to go on. I also understand that the word farang originated hundreds of years ago from French people in Siam.
  16. Correct. Tell the reception and let them sort it out. Also to consider- he brings 10 of his mates to deal revenge to you. He knows where you live.
  17. Define "little". I've seen posters on here that claim they need over 50,000 baht a month to live in LOS. BTW, bar girls cost the same for old people- no old age discounts.
  18. 55555555555555 Soooooo, you couldn't claim that you were just going out, and couldn't talk, or is lying to a stranger not possible for you?
  19. Sounds like one day you'll do that to the wrong person and get something you don't want in return. It amused me more than irritated me if other farangs studiously ignored me as we passed by each other. I made a point of looking at their face though, but said nothing. Such people are not worth words.
  20. I've lived in many countries and all had racists. The worst were not white people.
  21. Not everyone posting has English as a first language.
  22. Using words doesn't change the fact that a foetus is a potential human being. If women considered that and weighed it against the impact of creating a potential human being they don't want, they would do something to prevent it happening. Because they apparently don't do that, I think they don't consider it much at all. We don't live in a world without contraceptive options.
  23. I wonder who is paying for it? Such things would surely be too expensive for any individual, or are Tesla cars overpriced?
  24. Hmmmm. I'd certainly be up for buying her a drink or three!
  25. As one of those "health service workers" that was underpaid, I was prepared to go on strike till we got paid what we were worth, but not enough others were, so they continued to get underpaid- IMO they only had themselves to blame. I didn't continue to be voluntarily underpaid as I went to a different country where I did get paid what I was worth. Recently, nurses are in high demand around the world and nurses are choosing to go where they are better paid, which means that the countries that don't value their nurses are missing out. If nurses are actually having to go to food banks to feed their families ( what are their partners doing to feed their families? ), they should ask themselves why they didn't take action about it in the past.
