Critics reject changes to Roald Dahl books as censorship

This nonsense by the woke is getting tiresome. Hopefully no one will buy the mutilated versions. -
Doomsday warnings for 2023

I can agree with that. When they want to take away my car and make me ride a bicycle they lost any support I might have given them. Too many people trying to use climate change to bring about social engineering to take it seriously, IMO. -

I agree with what you say, but I think the abbey was built there because it was already a spiritual place, rather than becoming one because of the monks. -

Apparently the Romans left records about him, so real person. His sayings are all useful, if one wants to understand them. -

Science is too primitive to understand spirituality, which is beyond the physical realm. Science can't even bring world peace and is heavily involved in making weapons to kill people. -

Not much to say. I visited it as a famous historical site with an abbey that was destroyed by Henry 8th ( may he rot in hell ). All that remains is ruins. It was the first Cistercian foundation in Ireland and built in 1142. As it's far from any town or city, and not easy to get to, I think the founders knew it was a special place to build there. Other than the ruins there was a hostel, which is now an information center. Otherwise surrounded by farmland. The moment I arrived I knew the place was special because of the vibe. I experienced a feeling of deep peace and serenity. The hostel was for sale and had I been able I'd have bought it, so I could live there, but not to be. I've experienced a few special places around the world, but none that were so spiritual as that place. If you ever visit Ireland try and visit it, but you'd need transport, as I doubt any bus service goes there ( dead end and no population ). -
Yes, a puppet for whom? We need some proof of that.

I don't know why he failed as president, but he's probably been the only "good" president that I know of. I assumed he failed to be re elected because the Iran rescue was a shambles, but perhaps there was more to it than that. I remember the publicity he got for his Playboy interview, and was surprised at the reaction to his "lust in my heart" comment. Seems the US is OK with war, but not with a bit of lust.

U.S. prosecutors ask for 25 more years in prison for R. Kelly

I'm not commenting on his guilt, but seems that even first degree murderers get less than that, which seems wrong to me. By all means keep him in jail till he dies, but let's punish murderers with the same sentence. -
I was responding to johhnybangkok's statement "Because it limits even discussions about LGBTQ issues, it could stifle conversations for children who need to work through their own gender or sexual-identity questions" which appeared to be about discussion in a classroom, but if I was wrong and it was not, I apologise for getting it wrong.

Andrew Tate threatens legal action against accuser
thaibeachlovers replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
If the woman's case is true and she can prove it, why would they take any notice? IMO too many men have had their lives destroyed by vindictive women that have used the courts for revenge, and I'm happy to have some fight back. NB, I know nothing about the truth in this case, so not saying if he is or is not guilty. -
European allies vow more support for Kyiv at security meet
thaibeachlovers replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
I have to agree with that statement, but if you remember, I was for negotiations involving giving up territory BEFORE the invasion started. IMO it will end that way anyway, so is it too much to hope that more death and destruction will not be necessary by negotiating now? However, I doubt Zelensky is going to want to be humiliated so I see nothing but more death, more destruction before it ends. -
Far-Right Election Denier Beats Trump’s Pick in Michigan

IMO, for what it's worth, the US is already split beyond repair and can expect to see candidates that are more extreme ( of both parties ) getting elected. It's a pity there isn't a more moderate political party that stands a chance of getting into power. -
Biden healthy, vigorous and fit for job, says doctor
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
It's a sad time when neither you, nor I can think of any younger person that could/ would do the job. I do know who I DON'T want in charge and IMO Harris would be number 1 on that list for the US. Does it really matter in the US ( or any western country ) when IMO we don't know who is REALLY running the show? Far as I can see, donors have a big say in the US when it comes to policies. -

I just assume all politicians lie, most of the time, and disregard anything they say, except to either mock them or to hang my head in despair. I go by what they do, not what they promise. -

IMO because voters were sick of the endless attacks on him, and an old guy looked like a safer bet ( pity that didn't work out ) for some peace. That doesn't mean he didn't get results when he was POTUS, but IMO politics is about personalities now, and not policies. -

I think most people will have a hard time believing the report when the evidence of their own eyes is before them every time Biden goes on tv without having a teleprompter and a written speech. -
Did you expect anything else? IMO CCP is not beholden to any other country. They will do whatever Xi wants them to do. Given they are a permanent member of the security council in the UN, IMO they can veto any UN resolution ( tell me if I'm wrong about that ) against them, and as long as they are the main source of rare earth metals that the west desires for it's technology, they are probably immune to more than rhetoric or sanctions.

Oh, if only it were as easy as that! Few things like paying for it have to be sorted, and also nobody wants to escalate it into WW3. Also, seems as though the Ukrainians used too many shells and the factories in the west can't keep up. No point sending artillery without anything to put in them.
