  1. I've read a lot of the posts and few even mention Pattaya or the OP. Given the thread is about Pattaya, it's silly to say that Pattaya should introduce segregation as people will just get fake certificates and carry on regardless. That'll probably happen in other countries that try segregation as well.
  2. Except enough people believe that such measures saved them from death and will probably re elect them. I don't, but I'm in a minority.
  3. While she may have obvious boredom repelling properties, I would never have chosen to call her a "waif". Google gives us noun noun: waif; plural noun: waifs a homeless, neglected, or abandoned person, especially a child. "she is foster mother to various waifs and strays" a young person who is thin and looks unhealthy or uncared for. "a little shop presided over by a Gothic waif in purple eyeshadow and lipstick" Your idyl is neither childlike, nor thin, though I am unable to discern the colour of her eyeshadow or if she is wearing lipstick.
  4. Alas, I'd never date a smoker. I find the taste of a smoker's mouth unacceptably revolting. Boredom is all in the mind. You are only bored because you think you are. Change your thinking, change your life. As a child I used to get easily bored, but since I learned to use my imagination I can never be bored, unless I choose to be.
  5. I disagree. A man does not need a maid, and can be better off by far not having one. That ache is caused by an illusion of what might be, but reality is that "love" fades away, to be replaced in many cases by loathing. 50% or more of western marriages fail- who would buy a car if there was a 50% chance that it would explode? Who would sail on a ship if there was a 50% chance that it would sink? Who would fly if there was a 50% chance it would crash? Our small head is powerful though. Learn to disregard the small head and achieve tranquility, but if not tranquility, at least save a lot of money to be spent on better things than trinkets and baubles for a maid. Love, IMO is an illusion.
  6. Seems that this thread has finally done it's dash and will fade away into the archives. It was good while it lasted and I learned a lot, both from believers and the non believers. However, with the loss of one of the 3 regulars and given my increasing reluctance to reply to repetitive posts, one has to ask if the fat lady has finally sung? Anyway, there was a wonderful sunset the other night. Gaia ( God ) is truly glorious.
  7. You beat me to it. Just wasted effort protesting about the PM. The entire system needs reforming or it will just continue same same under different PM. Problem there, of course, is who could actually reform the system? The only thing I can say about it is that Thaksin, IMO, was worse, and he was popular, so if they brought him or one of his cronies in as a replacement nothing would change except the faces. By the predominant colour in the OP photo, it's obvious who they would want as a replacement. I'd love to know who is funding the protests.
  8. I had major surgery in a London hospital. The ward was filthy, the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly, the nursing was a bad joke ( speaking as a registered nurse myself ), some of the nurses were incompetent, and the Drs were not much help when I had a crisis. The pre hospital testing was great, the surgery was done properly, but the post op care was not what I should have received. I consider I was lucky not to have been infected post op, and another patient that had same op as I did become infected post op.
  9. I always expected to wait for hours in a Thai hospital and took a good book. I also got to know the cafe staff during my stay. However, better than waiting days or weeks to see a GP here.
  10. Can't say I agree with doing the entire road side drains. The water that does the damage is that which flows down the main roads onto Beach Rd. Do what is simple enough to catch that water and send it through very large pipes out to sea and the problem would be solved, IMO. However, the real problem may be that ( as some posters have mentioned ) there is no desire in city hall to actually fix the problem, for the obvious reason.
  11. LOL. I've been in two long term relationships and in both the majority of the "sacrifice" came from me. One can only give till one realises that one is being exploited and getting zilch back. Then it's time to walk. I hope you ain't one of those that thinks it's always the man's fault.
  12. At least we didn't have people telling us to be unhappy because the world is <deleted>. That's a horror of the present world we live in.
  13. OR, children have always been <deleted> little <deleted>. My generation may have been polite, but probably because we'd be physically punished if we were not.
  14. None of which affected me as I had an affluent childhood, or do you expect children to be depressed because the world is full of sorrow? We have an entire adulthood to be depressed, so let's allow children to enjoy their life till they grow up and it all turns to <deleted>.
  15. ‘What a Wonderful World’ in the context of the movie "Good morning Vietnam" is indeed very sad, but with the added sense of loss of Robin Williams it becomes an emotional downer indeed.
  16. Thanks for posting that. I served in the military, but my generation's war, Vietnam, ended for us before I got there. I served over 10 years, but a military without a purpose does not make for a happy organisation, and after all those that saw real action in Vietnam left it became a place I did not want to be, so I left it. Too much bureaucracy and petty BS ruined it, IMO. The day I left, was the day I became nothing to the military, so I can empathise with the sentiments in the VDO. They use you and then discard you, but that seems to be life in general today. Rather sad, IMO.
  17. The part I'm quoting from "The River" by Springsteen, especially the bit about " I'd lie awake And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take Now those memories come back to haunt me They haunt me like a curse" Memories of mine from my marriage. ............................................................. I got a job working construction for the Johnstown Company But lately there ain't been much work on account of the economy Now all them things that seemed so important Well, mister, they vanished right into the air Now I just act like I don't remember And Mary acts like she don't care But I remember us riding in my brother's car Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir At night on them banks I'd lie awake And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take Now those memories come back to haunt me They haunt me like a curse Is a dream a lie if it don't come true Or is it something worse That sends me down to the river Though I know the river is dry That sends me down to the river tonight Ah-yah-yah Down to the river My baby and I Oh, down to the river we ride Ah-yah-ay ..............................................................................................
  18. Given that you bolded that ( and only that ) in your post indicates that it was the most important part of the post, yet you did not make it clear as to what was horrendous. Clarity in a post is helpful in understanding what you are talking about, and I have no idea of what it was that you were referencing by that statement.
  19. I worked in a female dominated occupation for decades, and almost all the managers and senior staff were female. However, just being female did not mean that bullying was absent. If anything, the bullying by senior personnel was worse than what I experienced in the military. I'd go so far as to describe it as horrendous.
  20. ????????????? I read what you quoted several times to be sure and "per" and "se" are nowhere to be seen in it.
  21. IMO they will explode when their space suit loses pressure. I guess we'll have to wait for the first death in space to know. The snow runway at McMurdo was named after an American that died when his machine fell through the ice in 1956- I wonder what they will name after the first American to die in space? BTW the astronauts that died in the shuttle were not in space when it blew up.
  22. Couldn't stand Meatloaf when he made Rocky Horror, but he grew on me till I became a big fan. Four strong winds by Neil Young Wildfire by Michael Murphey
  23. Anything by The Carpenters. Karen had such a wonderful voice and what a tragedy to lose her so young.
