  1. Ditto. Having recently split from the wife and the family home it was the cheapest place with good facilities. I didn't want hot girls, so that wasn't an issue ( if I had wanted I'd have gone to live in Pattaya ). A very nice hotel room all included ( except meals ) was 15,000 a month. Gekkos restaurant short walk away for reasonably priced meals, Pantip just up the road for DVDs ( English language tv channel was rubbish ). Central Airport had a free transport service, to go see movies, friendly travel agent next door for local trips, I could have lived there for rest of life if I could have got the pension in LOS.
  2. Grace Dental have dentists that specialise.
  3. Obviously not referring to the traffic ( jams are as bad as Bkk ) or the night life ( dead as the proverbial Dodo ). I have no idea just what is too fast, unless comparing to Chiang Dao village.
  4. I had the feeling while living in C M that the council didn't actually do anything except spend their salaries. They didn't fix the pavements, remove derelict telephone boxes obstructing pedestrians, employ road cleaners, or put on public celebrations at New Year. Certainly did nothing about the traffic.
  5. Comment about question deleted. I had to drop the nephew off at his residence. Only did it once, as refused to drive there again. Streets were planned by an idiot, IMO ( probably not planned at all ).
  6. Pattaya has sea food. They go to Larn, occupy the entire beach, ruin it with speedboats constantly coming and going, and fill up all the restaurants.
  7. Old farangs flying from high buildings because they couldn't afford to live in LOS anymore?
  8. If they are going to commit suicide because a BF broke up with them they must be incredibly fragile. Can't remember how many times my heart was broken but never considered offing myself as a result and most would be the same IMO. It's a parent's job to guide their children. Anyway, I'm not saying anyone can just go to a chemist and get the offing pills. One would have to convince a panel of psychologists that one really did want to die, and not for the proverbial boyfriend breakup or a sad song, that will be forgotten next week. I am saying that one shouldn't have to be in utter agony to be able to get a pain free exit. I have that opinion because someone that is serious will try anyway and may fail badly, ending up far worse off, and a burden for the state to support. If it was easy to do, I wouldn't be posting about it.
  9. Won't be missed by me for sure, and I'm sure many others as well.
  10. IMO he'll be worried that the special counsel will uncover things he doesn't want uncovered. Bit like Nixon must have regretted letting the proverbial cat out of the proverbial bag on the secret tapes.
  11. There's more money to be made in war and disaster, so paradise must wait till we pass over to a better place.
  12. Not for nothing though. It cost a great deal to birth you, raise you, educate you, keep you alive, transport you to wherever you are, feed you, marry you, give you a pension, etc.
  13. You can start your own topic on this subforum. Just do it.
  14. I agree. If I am in the Matrix, how would I know?
  15. I've seen photos of giant skeletons, but I don't know if real or faked.
  16. That's obviously a humerous post, but I expect women to protest and lobby government to ban them as a threat to women's right to marry an ATM a man. I like the idea of having a "woman" that doesn't shout at me all the time, wears what I like, has hair style that I like, doesn't get fat, etc, but cost is beyond me at present. After I win lotto for sure.
  17. From recent news ( last hour ) on Al Jazeera, Russian forces have captured the city center and the commander on the ground says they have won the city, but official Russian news says the fighting is not yet over.
  18. If I'm obsessive it's because WW3 involves lots and lots of nuclear weapons, and probably the end of life as we know it. If you don't know how the present conflict could escalate to nuclear war, or who would be involved should you be commenting about it, as it's pretty obvious? Ever heard of unintended consequences?
  19. So, who's laughing now? Trump is. Who's crying now? Biden is. Has to know that he's been hung out to dry, given he is probably a liability for the people that run the Democrats. The only reason he's still there, IMO, is because of who takes over when he goes.
  20. I didn't hear any cover up. He's done the ( probably ) only thing he could do, and appointed a special counsel. Al Jazeera is devoting a lot of time to discuss the A G speech and the back ground with relevance to the Trump episode with classified documents.
  21. Breaking news. Just announced by the A G that a special counsel has been appointed. Seen on Al Jazeera.
  22. Of course lots will still go there, as few of them read this forum. I used to like Patong, went there a lot, way back last century, but it became too ruined and too expensive. Lack of decent public transport and rip off tuk tuks finished it for me. Last time I went was after the tsunami, and I was saddened to see that they were rebuilding the same <deleted> again. They had the opportunity to rebuild it better, but chose not to.
  23. This is the lead story on Al Jazeera news. Seems Biden is in for some attention on this matter that will not be comfortable for him. The more he tries to wiggle out of it, the bigger the story gets.
  24. Perhaps not, but others do. When they stop, I will. Bye.
  25. I'll give it up when your lot stop harping on about Trump at every opportunity.
