I would never buy anything from a Facebook ad. I did once, the product was fake and PayPal got me a refund. FB has absolutely no interest in what people advertise on their site. Basically, it is out of control in so many areas as it is too big to monitor effectively. That goes for any social media site. Use them carefully and at your own risk.

When Face is the most important thing in Thai society, and with many Thais having the mental age of children (the two go hand in hand) then you have a recipe for financial disaster. What puzzles me is why banks lend to people who clearly have no means to pay it off. One day the bubble will burst and the debt will be called in, in a similar way to what set off the Asian financial crisis in 1997. Then, BCC lent too many unsecured loans and crashed, and the Baht fell through the floor. Many of us will be hoping for a repeat. And no, I have no sympathy for the locals who lived beyond their means and will suffer as a result.

In-Depth: Who is Srettha Thavisin, Thai Prime Minister Candidate
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You missed this part: Srettha co-founded Sansiri in 1988, which became one of the largest real estate developers in Thailand, and served as its chief executive and president until he resigned in April of 2023 to pursue his political career. -
Many products were shrunk in size, rather than increase the price. That was then. Now they do both.

My wife says you're quoting a city price. The countryside rate is much lower. That is because in the city the body is usually kept in the temple for a few days whereas in the countryside the coffin is kept in the home. Also, the temple might provide food and drink for the mourners, whereas in the countryside it is the family of the deceased who provide that. When my father-in-law died I dreaded how much it was going to cost me. But there is a kind of insurance scheme in the village which people contribute to, and as stated above those who attend make a donation too. We actually ended up making a profit!

Same. I wonder how they get the number, or is there a way to trawl for people that I don't know about?

I get them now and again on LINE too. All pretty, all fake I'm sure. As for FB, I've always had the policy of only 'friending' people I've met. The one or two exceptions I've made haven't lasted long.

Alert: Structural Issues on Rama 2 U-turn Bridge

Bizarre comment. Exactly the opposite to what you claim occurred in this case, If you hadn't noticed, they are acting before an accident happens. -
I had my house extended and wanted wires put in the bedroom wall ready for aircon to be installed. Done. Then the aircon installer arrived and found the wires weren't actually connected to anything and he had to rig it up so that two units (one in the kitchen) run off the same circuit - which they can do, but not at the same time. The boss of the five workers was the only competent one, three of the builders were family so wife couldn't kick up a fuss. Like many people in Thailand they weren't properly trained in what they do, but living out in the sticks we weren't exactly blessed with choice. A Korean I worked with once summed up the country perfectly in just six words - the standards here are so low,
