Emirates has the same in Business. For some bizarre and unknown reason I was able to buy and upgrade DXB-BKK for $200 one time. But only one time. Even included the limo meet in Bangkok. I also one time - but only one time - got upgraded from Economy to Concorde on BA New York to London which cost me nothing at all, but that's another story.

Tell her to read this, and all will be clear. Or not: Cricket - Simple facts, for ease of understanding. By Dr. J.T.H.Pearce. There are two (2) sides, each with eleven men and a twelfth man, one side out in the field and one in. The captains (skippers) toss up to decide whether to go in or out first. Each man who's in the side that's in, goes out and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in, then stays in until he's out. There are always two men in. You cannot play without a partner so two men have to go in at the start of the innings, but only one man can face the bowler at a time. When ten of the eleven are out then they are all out so both teams go in and the side that's already out, comes in. The side that's been in goes out and tries to get out those coming in. Sometimes you get men still in and not out coming in because there has been a declaration. and so on.....

A good topic as I was wondering the same thing. We had a dog die when I lived in Bangkok. The landlady next door wouldn't allow burial in her garden (we didn't have one) as she said her dog would know about it, and in the end he was collected by the local authority. To me it felt like he was just collected in the same way as the rubbish, but I was away at the time and couldn't intervene. Now we live in the countryside and have a large garden the circumstances are different, but I'd still prefer to go the cremation route and will look into that. We have six dogs, all around middle age (7/8) and I'm 74, so I sometimes wonder who will go to the temple first ????

Transport Minister inspects Suvarnabhumi Airport
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I had a similar experience at domestic. I went to an employee at one of the gates and said there was an unattended bag nearby, and she asked me what she should do. I suggested calling security - who didn't answer. Then I offered to show her the bag and she walked just ahead of me and right past the bag. The owner of the bag then appeared and I walked back with her to her gate. And there were several unattended bags by the entrance to the airbridge. Oh, they belong to the crew, she said. Security at the airport is as useless as the MRT 'security guards' who shine a torch at your closed bag for a nano-second. Or the 'security guard' at Siam Paragon who 'guarded' the entrance and watched as countless people went in via the exit and avoided the airport-style scanners, and did nothing. Thailand is wide, wide open to terrorism, and when - not if - an attack occurs they'll set up a few committees to examine what went wrong and insist that the country is safe for tourists. -
What low/medium price wine do you recommend.
Bangkok Barry replied to YorkshireTyke's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I'm lucky enough to not be able to tell cheap from expensive. I once attended a gathering in Melbourne sponsored by Jacob's Creek and mentioned this to the chap serving up the wine, so he gave me three to try. I picked the cheapest as my favourite. Being a non-connoisseur has saved me a fortune.- 187 replies

Police, Bangkok reveal security measures for APEC Leaders’ Week
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
In the real world people do not discuss security measures, but in Thailand there is always a uniform who has to shoot his mouth off. In the real world you do not, as the headline says, reveal your security measures. -
I find it fascinating that the Brits could keep Hitler and his troops from crossing the Channel, but can't stop a few small boats of illegals each day. Extraordinary, isn't it.

The laws are there for a very good reason, even though they are not enforced. You knowingly broke them, even though you knew the risk of passengers being killed. No different to Thais, thinking it can't happen to them. It didn't to this family, until it did. To say your passengers were never at risk is ridiculous. No doubt this family thought the same. The only difference was you were lucky, they were not. Saying there was no alternative is the easy way out. You adapt to circumstances instead of putting lives at risk. Parents who buy a motorcycle for their son's last birthday no doubt also use the same excuse. People role the dice and some win, some lose.

The only possible way to educate these morons about the effects of what they do is to feature in their nightly dramas graphic scenes of road accidents and the consequences, the temple burnings, the loss of family income - probably the most important aspect to money money money Thais. It is the only way I can think of to get the message across. They can still have their shouting and screaming by those affected by the carnage, so that would keep the actresses who only have to show how loud they can scream to pass the audition in their job. And they could still keep the gun scenes as someone shoots whoever was responsible for the road deaths. Win win all round.

New Booze Regulation Comes Into Effect Wednesday

Don't worry. It's a just another Thai law where there is no possible way to enforce that you only make 200 litres. There is also a similar law which forbids you to smoke in your own home. Thailand - hub of unenforceable laws. -
Exactly the same for me. I just signed up again with an old email address that I rarely use now.
