  1. The compassionate way IMO is to reduce their numbers through attrition. Sterilization will reduce the birth rate to that below replacement, consequently their numbers will decline to manageable levels. ,
  2. You are correct and a passport should be a document every foreigner in Thailand has . But the article states "or other valid identification " so a thai drivers licence should be adequate, as it has for me do far. But if I was them I would insist in passport , a valid Thai licence in no way guaranties no overstay, my drivers licence is valid for five years and my extension to stay for one year, so it is conceivable that my extension has expired, I am overstayed close to 4 years and my drivers licence is still valid.
  3. Logical fallacy , I will leave it up to you to figure out why. Sorry to do this to you after y spend all this time getting all these nice pictures that you probably thought supported your post
  4. Lame attempt at witticism and logical fallacy
  5. for some that might be an improvement and on the positive side in the event of a nuclear apocalypse your survival chance increases substantially, that's o fcourse if you don't get stepped on by a 5 leg mutant.
  6. I am not sure what daily wages are in Bangkok but 100 bht (is it each way?) would be a large percentage of someones daily earnings.
  7. Yea ofcourse!! that goes without saying.
  8. But not to worry, What deficit the US creates with it's departure , Belgium will make up with chocolate.
  9. You are right about that Bo problem exists independently and as such there needs to be a comprehensive reaction that consists both of stick and carrot. Both the sterilization a and culling options will fail if there is no follow up .
  10. People here , especially in issan, don't have a lot of money , no way they would spend the money we do to take their dog to the vet, it need to be made free or of low cost to them. We have 5 dogs all rescue dogs and all female. Do you know why all female? Because no one in this area wants female dogs, because female dogs have babies. They don't care about their male dogs, not their problem. Mentalities change. Why do you think Thais behave one way in Thailand and a totally different way when they migrate to a western country? Did their DNA change? No! expectation of them changed and people live up to expectations. Put people in a perfectly clean mall and no one (or very few) would throw refuge on the floor. Put the same people in an environment where there is garbage everywhere and they will have no problem contributing to the problem. It is a well known concept in sociology. Mentalities change , it was not long ago where the concept of the lovable drunk was all over TV in the US, remember Dean Martin and Foster Brooks ,or do you remember the Maldoro man? You don't see that anymore, Mentalities change all time time.
  11. Thank you for that, I appreciate your report. I took your advice and also did my one year extension last week, and confirm that nothing had changed. I wanted to post a reply and report my experience but I could not find your post and could not remember the thread title. I did a search with no success, the search function in this forum at best. sucks vacuum
  12. Not true, It has worked in many countries and it will work here. We just came back from a summer vacation to a southern European country that in the past had a similar problem, We spend there over a month. We saw perhaps one one or two stray (or we thought were stray) dogs. We asked about it and we were told that every municipality offered free sterilization service for both dogs and cats . The person we were talking about us showed us a cat, she said the ear was clipped to show that the cat was caught . sterilized and released.
  13. The dogs don't bother us.Almost 20 years in Thailand , other than the occasional barking i never had a problem 3-4 a week we go for a 7-10 km bicycle ride, We take the back roads . No traffic to worry about, quiet , and beautiful country. Plantty of dogs on our way many from surrounding farms, some times the bark at us. but not one of them has ever bothered us. Of course it helps that we pay insurance money to the local dog mafia,
  14. trump's defence should be "medical condition" He should claim, and I am sure there is not a person who would not agree with him, that he suffers from diarrhea of the mouth cause from a natural lobotoby that has disrupted the connection of his brain to his mouth.
  15. I have a cat problem, or should I say my couch has a cat problem We live in Khon Kaen and I don't see a cat problem I think the large number of dogs control the cat population.
  16. Calls can be made on skype. Our family is spread out around the world, USA Thailand, Greece, Italy , Australia. So I have the world unlimited skype plan .($15 per month) when I do a search for a number, it also pulls numbers from my phones contacts. If you make a lot of international calls i highly recommend it.
  17. I remember when computers came out and e files were the thing. Many of us proclaimed the paperless society. Remember? what we did not count on was printers in every office. Last wee I just did my one year extension based on marriage. I should have taken a picture. without exaggeration I had generated a stack of papers half an inch high, of which I had to make another stack of copies. I got writer's cramp signing!! I must have signed over 20 items, then as we were finishing I was given a bunch of other papers to sign. Thais love their paperwork. If anything now we will have robots more efficiently making copies
  18. There seemed to be one who was confused. The word I was going to use would had been <deleted> so I saved them the trouble and substituted a similar word that would not. ofcourse , that's what netanyahu would say. What else could he say "Ohhh you guys.. you got me ! ok ok ok , soryyyyy. I will stop ,, Soon. "
  19. I stopped reading there because you seem to have a comprehension problem. I said : "Is there an uncontrolled dog problem Thailand? sure is, " for those who have comprehension issues, let me explain and i will try to speak slowly and use small words. It means that I agree there is problem with "strays" .
  20. We can afford to have trillions spend to support corporate greed and wars around the world, but not enough to take care of our citizens IMO those who seem to be arguing against their personal and national interest resemble cattle cheering for the butchers while being marched to the slaughter house . Hey!! look at those idiots being slaughter at the front of the line, what a bunch of rubes!! good for us who are not at the front of the line! Yet.
  21. I would not mind it , if the would start with you. I have a simple personality test for people. Anyone who does not love dogs has something seriously wrong with them and is to be avoided and kept an eye on. Removal from the gene pool is recommended but a lobotomy is not necessary IMO as one seems to have naturally happened to them during birth. Is there an uncontrolled dog problem Thailand? sure is, are there better and more humane solutions other that what the Op is suggesting? Absolutely! and many other countries have successfully adopt them. A nationally comprehensive spay and neuter program would see immediate reduction, and total elimination of the problem with in a dog generation. Not unlike the program I suggest for those who don't love dogs
  22. You have not been paying attention. Say 10 hail Marys and wash your mouth with soap. it is Exactly the opposite .
