You don't need to justify the full cost of the EV, only the difference i cost between the ICE and EV, if any.

Legal Tax minimization for foreigners
sirineou replied to smokie36's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
As with my now famous thread on how to fly a plane , " first take of, and avoid crashing until you land" I think you will all find my advice in limiting you tax liability invaluable. "minimise your taxable income, and increase your non taxable assets" No! no need to thank me , your admiration is enough reward for me. Moderators please pin this post for reference by future generations Thank you. -
Suppositions based on incomplete evidence are often wrong

Remember when you were young, and they could not pay you enough to eat something. and now you love it? Your ability to taste certain flavors changes . This is proof that different people taste things differently. Also things that you associate with pleasant events evoke positive responses in your brain. So Thais living in the culture they have grown up in have a particular taste range (A physical ting) and positive associations with some foods (a mental thing), no different than you and me who cultural evolutions has imprinted certain flavors. in us. So something that you find bland another ethnicity might find Aroy mak mak, and vice versa. I don't dislike Suki hot pot dinner, but I don't particularly like it also. My wife and her sister love it. And I love my wife, so often I pretend I am in the mood for MK, and it makes the wife happy. I like making my wife happy.

Money from abroad
sirineou replied to Mika78's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
First of all we are all also trying to figure this thing out. Please someone correct me id I got something wrong. But you don't pay the tax at the bank. The way I understand it 2023 income is not taxable under this new tax regulation, so Januar yto March 2025 you will have to file a tax return in Thailand for the 2024 year. That is if you stay in Thailand more than 6 months. Do you stay in Thailand more Is that 6 months? and is this the only funds you transfer to Thailand? also do you pay tax on it in France? If 30k bht per month are the only funds you transfer to Thailand X 12 months you will have 360,000 reportable income. and it would be what you will report in your tax return. Not sure what deductions you have , so suntract that and you are left with your tax liability. Now France has a tax treaty with Thailand. I dont know what that is but I can take an educated guess from other EU countries I have experience with. I am willing to bet that whatever tax you pay on those funds in France, is deducted from your tax liability in Thailand. If for instance your tax bracket in Thailand is 20% and you paid 19% tax in France then you are only liable for 1% ot after your deductions perhaps you don't owe anything. That is my understanding, but like everyone else I am also trying to get a handle on this and I could be wrong on my assumptions,. But as I said, in reference to this new tax law, you don't have to declare that foreign income until Jan -March 2025 and by then I am sure we would know more about this,. -
I am still trying to invent myself. I start good but I lose focus every time I see something shiny.

To view and or interact with many US websites you need a VPN. to make it look like you ae there. I often use Venmo to move money around the US , if I forget to change my VPN location to one in the US it does not work. Then I change VPN to Miami and it works fine. I have Capital One credit card and have no problems interacting with and maintaining it from Thailand via a VPN. I like the Capitol One card I have because there is no annual fee, and the do not charge international transaction fees . We often travel to countries other than the US and Thailand where we are.

One Billion in US Weapons Sent to Ukraine Unaccounted For
sirineou replied to morrobay's topic in The War in Ukraine
Why did Saddam had to go? Sure he was a bad actor but the world was and is full of bad actors and we don't take them out, Why Saddam? If you were to pull Saddam's pants down on his ass there was a USDA stamp and a made in the US stamp. We didn't seem to mind when he was gassing the Kurds with gas we had given him, We in fact run interference for him when the deed was reported in the world news. What was he doing now that he was not doing then? The truth of the meter is that the US needed a fall guy and Saddam was a convenient soft target. The US only invades soft targets. With the additional benefit of many in the US getting very wealthy. What do you think happen to all those billions that were unaccounted for? On the subject of Ukraine before the war Ukraine was considered to be one of the most corrupt countries, then we are to believe that after the invasion they became angels at the beginning of the war? I wonder how many in Ukraine have become fantastically rich from the US? How many more millions Zelenski has in his secret offshore accounts? -

After 9/11 they had to kick someone's ass , and it certainly would not be the place where most of the terrorists came from. It would had crashed the world economy. (SA controlled 20-25% world reserves 2003) So go after Saddam and kill two birds with one stone. -
No it just means that some people use rational thinking in their decision making and some use faith in snake oil BS. Ask yourself this. If God does exist, why does he hate his believers so much? The more religious a country is, the pooper it is, the more religious a state is again the poorer it is. Yet the more secular a country or state is the more wealthy it is. Or perhaps God has a great sense of humor. By the way trump is proof certain that there is no god.

I did not know that and I am an Fn genius and from conversations I had in this forum you would be amazed how many others do not also know that . You would think the would tell you at the IO when you do you extension " Hey bucko , your passport expires in X months and so will your extension. " you would think that, but you will be wrong. In my case the probably did not say anything because they like me so much , they wanted to see me back early. Same ad my 4th grade teacher who liked me so much she kept me in the 4th and extra year.
-
Believe it or not, the extension is not always for a full year as I found out the hard way. My passport was expired during the year of my extension, so I had it renewed and happy go lucky I went to the IO to transfer my stamp to the new passport. Mai dai (can't do) , i get from the IO turns out that your extension expires with your passport now days. So I learned a lesson and when it comes to Thailand I don't take anything for granted. So now i always ask.

Never too late to take it up again. Hours of enjoyment for you , and annoyment for the wife. I had also given it up for decades since my youth. And only took it up now that I am retired and have the time. Unfortunately as we age the my left hand is not very cooperative, and my pinky locks up , it is called trigger finger, I saw a doctor about it, first we tried steroid injections but it did not help, so he suggested surgery, which would had required the left hand pinky to be immobilized four three months. So I just stay away from chord changes that require pinky action. Lucky for me it's not the pinky I use to pick my nose
