Investors plight.
sirineou replied to swissie's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Aside from being an astute investor and a bit of luck, he is a great salesman and has created a brand of trust. He reached critical mass early and as such opportunity flows to him rather than had to be aggressively pursued. -

Difference on retired visa Thai spouse or not ?
sirineou replied to jaxon's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I don't believe being married affects your retirement extension to stay. But Where it is simpler to do a retirement extension, (no need for the visit home, and marriage certificates. An extension based on marriage has some advantages over a retirement extension. You only need 400k in the bank two months before application or a monthly income of 40k , medical insurance is not required, and you could work, if you wanted. Most of the extra things needed for a marriage extension , a few and you probably already have, and after you do your first extension , it becomes a lot easier. I do an extension based on marriage and I find it very easy to do. But perhaps that's only the case at my local IO in Khon Kaen. -

Not sure if it is a better place. Certainly in some things it is . But in many others are not' My daughter got a speeding ticket on I 95 driving north through Georgia. It was $200 (7,000 bht)!!! You remember the Sala I build in my "meanwhile back at the farm" thread? No way would I bee able to build this in the US, I would need professionally drown , and engineer stamped Plans , to submit for building permit. Then inspection before I pour the foundation and before I painted the steek, It would have cost me more for the plans and permit in the US, than it cost me to build the whole thing in Thailand. etc etc. Overall I am happier in Thailand and would be happy when I am back. IMO the positives in Thailand vastly outweigh the negatives Having said all that, it is nice to see my daughter and friend, and I would need to go on a diet when I get back to lose all the weight I gained from all this great farang food. Tomorrow we are going to Woodys for a rack of baby-back ribs, with a side order of baked beans , county vegetables, and fries. -

I have to agree, “A drowning man will clutch at straws.” I am in the States right now for Christmas, and if it was not for my daughter I would never come to the US If it wasn't for her ,or if I had to. The place is a <deleted> show if you ask me . I don't miss anything other than the food, -

Thai woman manipulated by scammer into swindling her mother

Perhaps I missed something but , What Naivety? The daughter was involved with some criminals and conspired with them to fake her abduction and make her mother pay ransom . It's a old story. -

I have to agree, The most important and time consuming function an elected politician has is to raise enough money and be re-elected. IMO term limits is the only solution, but good luck having the foxes keep themselves out of the chicken coop. -

The US political system is doomed and by extension so is the US China will wipe the floor with us. Why? You can not have one half of the country subotazing the other half and hope to survive. -
That is not true. Very hard or even impossible to be hired if you are elderly. If you think otherwise , all I can say is that you don't know Thailand very well. These people have become debt slaves, The husband killed himself so that the wife can have the life insurance to pay off some of the debt A tragic love story, and all people in this forum can be is critical ,and that it's their own own fault. I am not sure who I feel more sorry, for these poor people or for some of you guys.

That's strange but TIT I have been to the Queen Sirikit Heart Center in Khon Kaen several times for a heart check. No heart doctor referral required. I initially went to their emergency room, because I was experiencing severe dizziness. They did a EKG and determined that I was suffering from Premature ventricular contractions (PVC ) medication was prescribed that brought the condition under control, and a Follow-up appointment was was scheduled, at the follow-up I reported that I had no incidents, and we reduced the medication to half and was told if I had any more incidents to go back to full strength but if I did not, the next time we meet we will try to further reduce the medication to every other day and see how that works. Overall I would rate the care I got there as excellent, and very inexpensive, But as I said TIT this could only be true where I am. Perhapse you might want to go to a hospital that primarily specializes in heart issues.

Not sure if there is such a thing as a truncated extension, As far as I know it is a one year extension for everyone. Mine was a normal one year extension to stay based on Marriage. I am not an expert on the Subject, all I can say is what happened to me, what they told me at the IO and that I am not the only one this has happened too, So If I was you and my passport was expiring in less than a year at the time of my application I would consult with my local IO before I made such application.
