Another variation of the " would you buy an electric car" with a nonsensical OP question. I think this forum is running out of ideas as to what to talk about. It is really becoming very boring "Would you buy a BYD EV? " why not ? is it worsts than other electric cars? As far as electric cars go it looks to me to be a good product. but as I said this not really a comparison of BYD against other EVs but rather a rehash of all the old argument against and for EV's . So a BYD caught fire, big deal , as if other EVs and ICE cars don't catch fire.

Khon Kaen is a big city with diverse areas, As said above, by Scottiejohn more information is needed to determine what area would best match your age , interests and other requirements.

As you might already have figured out that even if there is a notice limit , it is not enforced. Google "noise canceling windows thailand" I also had a problem with barking dogs and a rooster at a neighbor's house not too far from ours In my bedroom I have thee windows, two on each side of the bed and one on the adjacent wall . The two windows on either side of the wall I filled with fiberglass insulation and then covered them with a nice stained plywood and molding, I was planning to have the rest of the windows in the house retrofitted with a noise cancelling product from a company in BKK the wife found, but , I don't know what happened at the neighbor's house but the dogs and rooster are gone. Also after a few years here I have learned to filter them out , so if you are relatively new to Thailand there is this hope also that after a while you wont even hear them anymore.

Do you still keep up with news in your home country?
sirineou replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Talk radio and particular news outlets from both the right or the left will only whisper in your ear the sweet nothings you want to hear I usually wake up an hour or two before the wife, I make my coffee and log on to my laptop to check my FB messages ,and read my emails, then I log on to Google news and scan the headlines from back home and around the world, Generally the headline tells you all you need to know, but if I see a headline I fine of particular interests I copy it and pasted in google search to see what multiple sources have to say about it. Consequently I feel I am well informed in what is happening around the world and home. -

IMO , it is the need to have a civil conversation about an innocuous subject, Not unlike sitting across the table from a friend while sharing a beer and saying , "I has a Kebab the other day at so and so place. Boy I love thes kebabs . do you like them?" Keening it on the light side No need to always argue the middle east issue ,if r you believe in God. or the meaning of life which of course everyone knows is 42

US citizen, better to marry Thai in US or in Thailand (registered)?
sirineou replied to JTXR's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Fair enough , it sound easier First I like to thank you for your calm and precise answer, especially since mine was a bit snarky . but the only difference between what I posted and this process is that you don't need the apostille since it is done at the country where the marriage occurred. What I meant in my original replay is that there are also other things that occur when married in the US. I chose the K1 method. The wife arrived in the US , we got married at the justice of the peace ASAP to get the process going and applied for a change of status, which got her her temporary Green Card, in two years he had her Green card , With a Green Card you can not be out of the country for more than 6 months per year , so we limited our Thai stay to a few months per year , Three years later applier for US citizenship and change of status. Married about 15 happy years now and living full time in Thailand, we can travel to the US whenever we want, and most of the world visa except. Upon reaching retirement age she would be entitled a portion of my social security, and upon my death regardless of age 70% of my trade union pension. While in the US aside from becoming fluent in English she got her cosmetology licence, so after I pass , many many years from now I hope LOL, if she so wished, she can go back to the US and earn a living. Which I doubt she will do, but the option is there. This is why I said getting married in the US and doing it right is IMO the best option in the long run. -

Semantics . You can called what you want, your ,marriage still has to authenticated and recognised in the US and you listed/ registered as married. You still have to prove you were married in the foreign country and that marriage was done legally in such county. Obtain a Certified Copy of the Marriage Certificate: Make sure you have a certified copy of your marriage certificate from the country where you got married. This document should be issued by the relevant government authority and include an official seal or signature. Translate the Marriage Certificate (if necessary): If the marriage certificate is not in English, you may need to have it translated. Some jurisdictions may require a certified translation to ensure accuracy. Authentication or Apostille: Depending on the country where the marriage took place, you may need to get an authentication or apostille for the marriage certificate. An apostille is a certificate that authenticates the origin of a public document. Check with the embassy or consulate of the country where you got married to determine if this step is necessary. Contact the County Clerk or Vital Records Office: Once you have the authenticated or apostilled marriage certificate and any necessary translations, contact the county clerk or vital records office in the state where you reside in the U.S. They will guide you on the specific requirements for recognizing the foreign marriage. Submit Documentation: Provide the necessary documentation to the county clerk or vital records office. This may include the original marriage certificate, any translations, and the authentication or apostille. Pay Fees (if applicable): Some states may charge a fee for the recognition of a foreign marriage. Be prepared to pay any required fees. Wait for Processing: The processing time for recognizing a foreign marriage can vary, so be patient. Once the process is complete, you should receive confirmation that your foreign marriage is recognized in the U.SOr you can get a KI visa and get married there." Or you can get a K1 visa and when she gets there go to justice of the peace and get married. Upon arrival she can get a temp tax number and if so desired can start working . -

sirineou replied to JTXR's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Yes but you have to register your marriage in the US , and chase a whole different paper trail . Much easier to do it there and all these things are done automatically. then an easy matter to register the marriage in Thailand because you as a farang do not have a very long paper trail in Thailand. -
U.S. National Debt Skyrockets to Unprecedented $34 Trillion!
sirineou replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Being one I am ashamed to admit, but americans are very stupid on the whole . The goverment will simply print more money, but that will dilute the current supply and decrease it's value. So it is a defacto tax on those with savings. I just came back from the US where I went to spend the holidays with family. I couldn't believe how expensive things have got in the past year. -

These are a few things to think about, First If you have doubts about your wife, you should not be getting married anyway. But if you plan to make a life together , Marry in the US This is what we did many many happy years ago and do not regret it. Easier to get her Green card, and subsequent citizenship. most of us are older than our wives and the chances are that we will pass away many years before them, If you live in the US for 5 years your wife would qualify for Social Security survivor benefits. Also a US passport for the wife would make your life easier if you both plan to do some international traveling in the future. PS: with the green card the wife can not be out of the US for more that 6 months, so you can still spend 5 months in Thailand every year, once she gets her citizenship, you are good to go and live anywhere you you want . -
I never said anything concerning that, only that the statement that medicare would not cover you outside the US.is not entirely correct , medicare advantage can in some cases cover you outside the US. This is a factual statement containing no false info.

Same here. could be the area I am at but I could not get good pizza where I am at. At least what i consider good pizza. So I started making my own and found it to me surprisingly easy. I make my own sauce and freeze it in zip lock bags, they use too much sugar in their sauce here. . I defrost abag as needed . Same with the pizza dough, when using the frozen dough I defrost it overnight. . It takes considerably longer to go buy a pizza than it to make it on your own.

Thank you capitalizing the deception part, As I get older mu eyesight is not what it used to be and I appreciate your effort. Nonetheless my point that Medicare can cover you outside the US in some instances remains valid.
-
That is not entirely true. There are Medicare advantage plans that would cover you outside the US Medicare advantage plans are plans offered by private companies that contracts with Medicare. There HMOs and PPOs HMO: have lover monthly fees . many non at all , but you have to use the doctors and institutions that are with in system. PPO: have higher monthly fees but you have the flexibility to use our of system doctors and institutions. I have an HMO because all my US doctors and hospitals I go to were included in their program. It is the Humana 5 star program and I have no monthly fees, in fact I get less money deducted my medicare from my monthly social security income. Obviously since I have to use their doctors and institutions I am not covered outside the US , since they don't contract with doctors and institutions outside the US but I am reimbursed for emergency situations (I have never used it so not sure how easy it is)

If the additional cost is not significant, I would recommend a cavity wall with a double 7.5 block , in the long run you would be happy you did. Also they will hide the columns. Caching the electrical was not a problem for me, You have to remember that thy are not like cement blocks and after the lines are run the chase channel is filled with cement. Just make sure that they put a screed over it before they render the walls etherlike you could get a hairline crack where they chase the electric. The crack is not structural but it is not aesthetically pleasing and you will have to open the crack a little bit . fill it with plaster and repaint over it . The screen they put over it acts almost like tape on drywall.

Himself . I don't see why BH investor would be any more "savvy" than the average investor. What make you think that? And as I said , it is not "charm" . No serious investor (BH or otherwise) bases it's investment decisions on "Charm" , but his branding has positioned him as someone whose investment style and ethos, aligns with those who chose to work with him. Anyway, Happy holidays -

IMO You have a mistaken idea of what a 'salesman is" . I am afraid you are equation a salesman with a pitchman.A Pich men is not a sales person he is really a con artist. In fact we are all in sales, some sell products some sell ideas. When you are interviewing for a job. you are selling the idea that you are the best person for the job, or even when you are trying to get in some young ladies pans, We are all always engaging in the art of the deal. but some are con artists and some are salesman. there is a difference. Both of the concepts I introduced in my original post are , business 101 Being a good salesman does not mean an overt pitch, in fact such thing would be amateurish . a sales technique has failed if it recognised as such. Buffet has developed a brand "The oracle of Omaha" and has cultivated such brand . Not taking anything away from him. He worked hard and eventually reached a level of "Critical mass" where instead of actively trying to identify and pursue opportunities. Opportunities find you . Again not taking anything away from him. He still has to evaluate these opportunities and approve or deny. But remember everything is sales, even when you are trying to get laid you are selling the concept of you as a desirable partner. The art of the sale is not something you are born with, some are natural salesmen but everyone else can benefit from a few sales seminars. There are proven techniques and concepts everyone needs to know not only so that they can apply themselves, but also recognise when they are directed at them. So is Buffet a great salesmen? "The wisdom of Warren Buffet extends beyond the stock market. Buffett is a master deal maker. If there is one person a CEO could call to help them close a critical deal, Warren Buffett would be on the top of most lists " https://www.janek.com/blog/sales-lessons-from-warren-buffett/ -

I dont know why all the confused reaction emojis in you pretty straight forward reply , all one has to do is google "Is israel breaking international law in gaza attacks" very simple . nothing complex or to be confused about. "he Israeli government’s decision to cut power, water and fuel supply to the enclave amounts to collective punishment of its entire population of 2.3 million people and violates international laws. " https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2023/10/12/is-israeli-bombing-of-gaza-a-violation-of-international-laws and if you still have any doubts, all you need to do is google " is collective punishment against international law" "The prohibition of collective punishment in IHL dates back to Hague Convention (II) of 1899. " https://opiniojuris.org/2023/10/24/a-short-history-of-the-war-crime-of-collective-punishment/#:~:text=International Humanitarian Law,Convention (II) of 1899. -
