  1. Digging out the photos of recent pizza's that I've made, came across this Chicago style deep pan pizza. For this, the cheese (and in this case green pepper, mushroom and salami) goes on
  2. I too make my own pizza's from scratch including the base and the sauce. I like a puttanesca sauce which a really rich flavour. The addition of chopped black olives, capers, and a tin of achovies is great. The anchovies melt down in the sauce so no salt needs to be added. I use tinned plum tomatoes also, squeezed by hand. A deseeded red chilli finely chopped adds a bit of bite. I use a sprinkling of semolina when rolling out the dough and on the pizza pan.
  3. If it helps, this is the criteria for opening an account with the Bangkok Bank, foreigner, no Work Permit. 2. Foreigner without work permit Passport A reference letter issued by one of the following institutes or organizations or required document Embassy located in Thailand or Certified Letter (Bank Form A) An overseas bank where the customer holds an account sent via SWIFT, reference requirements (Bank form C) Trusted individuals such as a Bangkok Bank staff member or customer, director of a private company, permanent residence in Thailand, government or private educational institutes located in Thailand trusted by the Bank or Letter of Reference for Foreigners (Bank form B) Trusted companies, e.g., an employment letter from the company if the customer is in the process of applying for a work permit. Document showing ownership of a fixed asset such as a condominium sale/purchase agreement (a condominium which is acceptable to Bangkok Bank) Or a property reservation agreement valued at 100,000 baht or more with a reference letter from the property developer that is acceptable to Bangkok Bank. Notes: Contact addresses for both Thailand and overseas must be provided (hotel and P.O. Box addresses are not acceptable).
  4. I believe it's here. https://goo.gl/maps/6iuopeMHHSav6JT26
  5. No, not applicable if marriage is in Thailand, only Kor Ror 2 and Kor Ror 3. Check this out from Phuket Immigration (yes, we all know that there can be variances between different offices). http://piv-phuket.com/long-stay-extensions/marriage-m/ The letter mentioned in 6.3 is required by whichever Amphur you are going to use to get your marriage registered. Essentially it's confirmation that you are free to marry (i.e. single or prove of divorce etc).
  6. By definition of 6.2/6.3, you were married in a foreign (not Thailand) country. I would email the US Embassy and confirm that they will provide such a document (essentially it's confirmation that your foreign marriage is legal). I'm sure you won't be the first to request this.
  7. Also needs to be borne in mind that for every flight of arrivals, there's a flight of departures.
  8. Fully agree. Seems pretty miserly/penny pinching to plan a bus rather than the security of a private taxi/van. My option would be a one way car hire.
  9. One option would be to go north from the airport, cross the Sarasin Bridge, and get to Khok Kloi bus terminal (about 5km the other side of the bridge). It seems to be a fairly large terminal. Sorry, no idea of timetable or costs. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Khok+Kloi+Bus+Station,+67WX%2BM86,+Khok+Kloi,+Takua+Thung+District,+Phang-nga+82140/Krabi/@8.2819055,98.3220847,10z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x30505a9825dcef6f:0x40cf70bca0712a90!2m2!1d98.2982729!2d8.2466653!1m5!1m1!1s0x30518d792d7f9309:0x10223bc2c364c90!2m2!1d98.9062835!2d8.0862997!3e0
  10. I like the Adelphi Suites on Soi 8, less than 100 metres from Sukhumvit and Nana BTS. Excellent rooms with seperate living/bedroom, and a great buffet breakfast. Easy distance to some good bars and restaurants, and reasonably priced. https://www.adelphihospitality.com/destinations/adelphi-suites
  11. The large Tesco on Chaofa West in Chalong has quite a few places selling phone covers and accessories. Alternatively, go into Lazada and search for your phone model case, no doubt get it there (if you can wait 3 or 4 days for delivery).
  12. The white puddings are OK, essentially oats and onion.
  13. Yup, I remember my first time in Scotland in the early 70's, and in a chip shop after a pub session, ordered a steak pie which was displayed in a heating cabinet. I watched with horror as a pie was taken out and put into the deep fat fryer to get hot. Fried everything (the exception being peas and beans).
  14. Though I never tried it, I believe there was a UK style Fish and Chip shop in Saiyuan, Rawai, possibly near the Stoned Crab? I used to see them advertise regularly, though being not exactly local to me, never went. These past two years and the disappearance of so many outlets be it food or otherwise, difficult to envisage their return. I believe there was also a place in the Thalang area doing traditional fish and chips, though again, no idea if they've survived. Of course, you're really talking about Scottish 'chippers', with their red, white, and black pudding suppers, which have never really existed anywhere in Thailand I don't believe. I do have an Aberdonian friend who lives in Songhkla and has a bar/bakery who makes some Scottish favourites (Scotch Pie, Macaroni Pies, Rowies etc), and he does nation wide delivery. Let me know if you want his contact details. Put some photos below. Again, these past two years, from being a regular restaurant goer, I've become a stay at home cook, as the produce to enjoy good food is still here, so whether it's British, Italian, Indian or Middle East, no problem.
  15. What's the name of the movie?
  16. I maybe wrong (and almost certainly am), but for some reason I get a feeling that after two years of giving carte blanche Covid extensions to anyone with a pulse, they're adding a level of stringency to 'normal' operations. This in anticipation of a complete withdrawal of temporary and emergency extensions (with the exception of Russians and Ukranians of course). I certainly hope so.
  17. I take it you were doing the monthly income method for your extension? I did my marriage extension a couple of weeks ago (lump sum method), and all went as normal with the exception that they wanted my bank book copies showing a transaction on that day (there was one about 10 days before, balance hadn't changed from the bank letter nor the 3 months statement I provided). No worries, off to the nearest SCB branch (Robinsons) put some money in the account and got new copies of the bank book page and returned to IO. Lesson learned for next year.
  18. I recently saw this pre-fabricated house design that looked interesting and I imagine possibly the type of thing you're looking for. Apparently built for 200,000 baht. Obviously you'd need to rent/lease a piece of land and install services (power/water/drainage etc). Unfortunately I don't have first hand knowledge of the builder, but I can pass the FB poster's details where I got this from.
  19. Actually made some curried chicken this evening, with the chicken coated with ground garlic, ginger and turmeric before going in the oven to be baked. Then made a sauce firstly with fried onion and green pepper, and adding roasted and ground cumin, corriander, cardomon pods, and dried red chillies. Served with a spiced basmati rice.
  20. Yes, I Google'd it also.
  21. Essentially it's Turmeric. I cook Indian food quite often, from quite extensive recipes, and I've never heard of curcuma.
  22. Pricing as much as anything, and I think you'll find they make vehicle tyres only. Continental bicycle tyres sold here in Thailand proclaim very loudly "Made in Germany". From the ones I recently fitted to one of my bikes.
  23. These are from China, and no doubt copies. Wouldn't touch them. I actually got a pair of GP5000 28mm a couple of months ago, and had a look at the order supplier on Lazada and they are out of stock, as with every other Thai supplier that I've used. You also need to be careful and order the right type of tyre, i.e. clincher or tubeless. If there's something I really want, I use Amazon, which ok you'll pay a bit more with delivery and import fees, but at least you get exactly what you want. Had a look there: https://www.amazon.com/Continental-Grand-Prix-5000-Black-BW/dp/B088ND6FNQ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=W83T4RIBWUQU&keywords=continental%2Bgrand%2Bprix%2B5000%2B700x28&qid=1650596834&sprefix=continental%2B%2Caps%2C422&sr=8-4&th=1&psc=1
  24. ME = Multi Entry. Valid for 12 months but you have to leave/re-enter the country every 90 days. I believe still available.
