  1. I thought for Marriage extensions, and unlike Retirement extensions, the minimum of 40K/month could be from anywhere, not necessarily from abroad.
  2. Then it's really down to how much you want to spend. As I wrote before, there are opportunities out there at the moment for many things, not only vehicles. If buying from a departing expat and possibly one owner, likely to have been lightly used and regularly serviced.
  3. Diesel for sure, don't think you'll find a petrol alternative anyway. As someone else mentioned, a two door would suffice with its longer flat bed and hence load space. Really you've got to set your own budget, but I would figure on somewhere between 100-200,000 baht for something 10+ years old.
  4. I would try the Facebook 'for sale' group pages in places like Pattaya, Phuket etc. Seems to be a lot of Russians selling their stuff at the moment, could be a bargain to be had. Go for the most common and popular make, in this case Toyota. There is a reason they are popular, i.e. their reliability.
  5. I too have been investigating Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) which is for age related declining vision, be it near or far sightedness. This package from Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok (one of the top hospitals there) might be of interest to some. Locally for me (Phuket) I believe that Bangkok Hospital here has a similar package which I will investigate. https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/packages/relex-smile
  6. This is equally applicable to the US. A surprising number have not only not travelled outside the US, there are many who have not ventured outside their own State.
  7. Good kit, classic example of getting what you pay for. We've had one of these Phillips models for a few years, not cheap but worth it. Particularly like the large size 'slots'. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/philips-hd2638-2-toaster-100-i3495649021-s12990428512.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.24.25e08431waaXNr&search=1&freeshipping=1
  8. The second largest Russian airline (and the largest private one), S7 has grounded all of its international flights. It was the primary Russian airline servicing Phuket. Going to be interesting indeed how the thousands of Russians that are currently here (they are the largest demographic group amongst tourists that have arrived in Thailand this year) are going to get home. I foresee some humanitarian flights in the not too distant future. I also see that Phuket Immigration has announced a visa extension of one month for all Russians if requested and a letter issued by the Russian Honorary Consul in Phuket. This extension is alsos available for all Ukrainian tourists, though they will get an email from their Consul to give to Immigration.
  9. Keep her on a lead when you take her out, then pull her away once she's finished her business. Could be she's not getting enough food or maybe try her with a different diet. On a lighter note, a sign seen at a beach side ladies clothing shop.
  10. There are many channels that are introduced for certain events. For instance, Saturday Premier League matches, the early kick off will be on BT Sport, and all of the 3 p.m. matches on SuperSport channels (from South Africa). Like others, I've had it for more than 5 years now and find it excellent value for the channel selection, quality of picture, and support when needed. Out of interest, just went into Pulse on my computer (you get 4 different connections with the service, I have mine on a box to the main TV, my computer, and my phone) and looked at the 'Sport' category. As I said, more channels are added for specific events, such as Payperview boxing/UFC etc (which are free). The sports channels currently listed:
  11. Yes, I had a proper 'chat' with an individual, not auto responses. Just went into my account again, and took a screen shot:
  12. One tip, instead of buying those expensive bags of salad, get some plastic bags and go outside gathering weeds and grass. Then put them in your fridge where after a few days, you can throw them out as normal.
  13. My wife was in our local Tops in Central Festival yesterday, and had picked up a pack of what is a kind of rice porridge/soup which she likes. A pack of 3 sachets was 55 baht, or single sachets around 23 baht. Out of curiosity, I 'Googled' the producted for more information in English, and lo and behold, the exact same item is available in the US from Amazon.com. Slight difference in price though, 667 baht equivalent, and that doesn't include posting! https://www.amazon.com/Xongdur-Organic-Instant-Sprouted-Mushroom/dp/B07WMX6X88
  14. OK, if you log onto your account, you can go to their on-line 'chat' facility. I used it a couple of weeks ago when an order I received arrived broken. I found their service pretty good. Typically for refunds it will be credited to your credit/debit card, whatever you used for your purchase.
  15. OK, I sometimes order from both Amazon.com (US) and also Amazon.co.uk. I just when into the UK site which immediately recognised me, and the first thing that I saw was this banner. So, do you have an account with Amazon.co.uk? If so, log in and follow the advice below. "Unexpected E-mail from Amazon? If you received an e-mail regarding an order you don't recognise, please check Your Orders in Your Account. If you can't find a matching order, the e-mail you received wasn't from Amazon.co.uk. Please do not click on any links on such emails. To report a suspicious e-mail, please forward the e-mail to [email protected] and then delete it. Please also note that Amazon will never ask for your personal information or to make a payment outside of our website (e.g. via bank transfer, emailing credit card details, etc.). You can get tips on safe online shopping from our Help pages and watch a short Help video on identifying phishing e-mails."
  16. Yes, all Russian flights are OK to fly here. Constraint is flying over EU air space which isn't applicable.
  17. Pre pandemic, virtually daily direct flights from all of the major Russian cities to Phuket including those furthest away such as Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Looking at todays arrivals and departures (Phuket), I can only see Irkutsk and Vladivostok.
  18. Russia has a hugely diverse ethnic Asian population, origins being Mongolia, Kazakhstan, North Korea amongst other nations, particularly in the Russian Far East.
  19. I got the same this morning, email from Wise, almost simultaneously received text from my bank detailing the transfer being credited: The money should be in the bank account by tomorrow, March 3.
  20. I don't believe that they do have problems, other than not currently being able to return to Ukraine. I guess they could fly to neighbouring countries such as Poland or Rumania, and make land crossings.
  21. From the 'live' blog from The Guardian. "Russia president Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to prohibit Russians from leaving the country with more than $10,000 in foreign currency, Russia state media outlet TASS reports. Citing the decree, the news agency reported: The move is an attempt to “ensure Russia’s financial stability” according to a statement from the Kremlin press office. It comes in response to the crippling sanctions western nations have imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine."
  22. Did a transfer yesterday morning (1st March), giving "Long Term Stay" option using my UK bank debit card, credited to my SCB account at 09.30 this morning.
  23. Wrong. If you are talking about the government provided pension then yes, she would not be entitled to a further pension. However, if he was in receipt of other pensions, possibly company related or even local authority pensions, then yes, she would. Some of it is down to the actual legality of the pension (i.e. properly registered), which is normally required for local authority (for clarity, I'm talking about service in the police, fire brigade, and other services). Typically company pensions only require that the pension recipient has nominated somebody as their next of kin, be it wife or partner.
  24. No I don't, at least not the 'thousands'. Propoganda game being played by both sides with the aim of weakening morale. The Ukrainian President went onto TV this morning to refute claims that he fled the country and ordered all of the Ukrainian military to lay down their arms.
  25. The media clampdown has already started in Russia: "Local media in Russia has been warned over its coverage of the invasion, with threats to block access to their websites. The communications regulator Roskomnadzor accused 10 outlets on Saturday of falsely depicting what Russia calls a special military operation in Ukraine, and publishing false information. It censured them for referring to it as an “attack, invasion, or a declaration of war”, and said the government would stop access if this continues. Fines of up to 5m roubles are also possible." https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/2/26/russian-regulator-warns-local-media-over-coverage-ukraine-war
