  1. Maybe not their work, but they do spend most of their working time looking at one.
  2. I know a Thai guy got fined 500 baht for staying in his girlfriends home. They reckon the farang price is more likely to be 5000. As for the curfew midnight is fine by me, just go out earlier - but then you're likely younger than me, most people are.
  3. They probably heard it was quite normal and accepted to bring your own booze to a restaurant and then pay for mixers/ice along with the food, there was a rather irritating farang "visa specialist" that used to do this where I went from time to time, seemed largely to show off to all he was more Thai than the rest of us. However, I do think wandering into a bar with half a bottle of Chang on board is a little different.
  4. It's certainly a consideration if you were thinking of spending a lot of time there and are still "active" in that department, the same in Vietnam I think (at it was it was years ago). The good news is that the ladies don't care and hotels will generally let you stay together, I think it's more of an issue if you would go to her hometown or she yours and stay in her/your home - then you may well receive a knock on the door.
  5. Used to have lunch every Sunday there, went for the first time in about 15 years 2 months ago, was identical, price probably up a bit, didn't pay attention. Apparently still the same cook, might explain that. But if it's the kind of thing you are after it's perfect.

  7. 500k (equivalent) can be outside Thailand.
  8. And where do most of those tourists stay? In hotels and guesthouses which do submit TM30's as required.
  9. You are supposed to apply from where you live (or are currently resident), not within Thailand. You need to show some document that evidences that and it is possible the issuing country might also ask for additional evidence of your travel plans from that country to Thailand. Nothing to stop you making it all up but for sure you will have to leave the country and re-enter if you do manage to get the visa.
  10. In theory you should (can be done online if you have registered for it) but in practice why bother? She wont be going to immigration for anything so nobody will know or care.
  11. No. It's a financial institution holiday. However those in the malls may still be open though may not be able to process every transaction.
  12. Luckily the ban is only about selling it not drinking it - get down the store right now.
  13. It really is a no brainer. Just get the O visa before you leave. No the money doesn't need to be in your account for any length of time. You'll get the visa within 3 or 4 days. I did exactly this earlier this year.
  14. 50/50. Why not simply get the single non-O e-visa before you leave? Saves a trip to immigration and avoids any potential issue with the airline.
  15. Can't say for sure but would guess it'll be on the appointment ticket same as for an extension appointment. In any event the info desk will point you in the right direction.
  16. I reckon I'd call them before trailing about the place. KLM Service Line +66 202 80 568
  17. He's done pretty well to only spend £100k in 3 years, and probably enjoyed every minute of it. And now he's getting his pension about £1k/month he can tighten his belt and live for the next 10 years on £2k+/month. There are many surviving on a lot less.
  18. A lot depends on what you benchmark is - if it's Bangkok or Pattaya then not a lot, if Kalasin then it will be a nice change. I was there last weekend and had a fine time, good food and enough places to have a drink in the evenings and a few things to do/look at daytime. It's a small city and I don't think people really go there other than on the way to somewhere else. It would be easy to go to Vang Vieng for a night or 2 but you wont have a passport so that might cause travel and hotel issues. I had a great time on Sunday night at the Hard Rock Cafe - it's kind of a Laos night with a lot of local music and dancing - nothing like I've experienced in and other HRC around the world, and the draught Beer Lao was cold and cheap! Download the "Loca" app and you can use it for taxis and QR payments, saves having to deal with millions of Kips.
  19. He is talking about applying in Thailand using one of the many agents that offer this service. Nothing fraudulent or false about it.
  20. These finance people couldn't care less, they are simply trying to make it easy for their customers.
