  1. Yes, that will be fine, in fact it only needs to be there 2 months before extension, 3 after, then 400 till the next year cycle repeats. It's an extension based on "retirement" not "pension". And your wife will need to go along when you make the change.
  2. I'm glad you said that as I was sure I saw "farangs" using them at BKK a couple of weeks ago (departing). This "news" does seem to be on a repeat cycle.
  3. Champagne has definitely got cheaper lately no doubt about it.
  4. Who knows why, perhaps it's a requirement of Thai bureaucracy rather than something the UK is interested in, but maybe a good idea to it to your to-do list.
  5. Indeed. For the life of me I don't understand why people reply with even vaguely sensible posts. There are numerous fake/bonkers posters who are at least somewhat amusing, but these artificial questions are taking over now.
  6. "A few months". "6 months". "all these months". Hard to follow this tale with it's inconsistencies. Anyhow, what did the bank say when you asked them?
  7. Well I did read the same on here a week or so back, hopefully your "good authority" is gooder than that.
  8. Plenty of information is available here; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/what-to-do-after-a-british-person-dies-in-thailand?utm_source=%2Fbritish-embassy-bangkok&utm_medium=Embassy&utm_campaign=Bangkok Whilst the Embassy needs some information in order for them to issue a consular letter to release the body there is no suggestion that they will do anything more to help the bereaved. There is advice regarding informing UK entities so it seems it is up to those left behind to do what's needed.
  9. First, don't ever accept the exchange offered by the ATM (Dynamic Currency Conversion). Always have the exchange done by your own bank. Irrespective of whichever Banks ATM you use you will get the Visa or Mastercard rate on the day. You will be charged 220 baht for the withdrawal, depending on your bank/card you might get that reimbursed, and some (foreign) banks charge a % fee for themselves.
  10. That first photo has been floating around for years. But you're right, I got shouted at taking a picture of the vast crowds at arrival immigration some time last year.
  11. they weren't pretending, can't say I blame them.
  12. Well done, did you make that up all by yourself?
  13. 22nd will be closed. 29th is not a real holiday, just a thing. If in doubt, avoid Mondays.
  14. No Insurance. But will either need 800k or 65k income proof. This can be in a UK bank. And getting the non-O in the UK will make things a lot easier here, he should get a bank account relatively easily and fewer trips to immigration.
  15. I had similar happen. They were printing the numbers, putting them in heap and randomly handing them to people in no particular order. Mine was way up the list and people were arriving well after me and getting a much lower number. Was beginning to create chaos as a lot of the ones with low numbers had wandered off. So a senior person was doing the rounds checking numbers and handing out new ones. Luckily she did as probably saved me an hour. Now if they just handed them out in numeric order in the first place.......
  16. A quick look at VFS and it suggests if she is on a type C visit visa (which presumably she is) she can apply from the UK. But her visa needs to be valid for 3 months after the time in Schengenland.
  17. The one on their own website is a combination of the two you have; 75/265 หมู่ 12 ถนนชายหาดจอมเทียน ซอย 5 ต.หนองปรือ อ.บางละมุง จ. ชลบุรี 20150
  18. Out of interest, where did you read or hear that this was needed?
  19. Spaghetti Carbonara (just had it tonight) Paella (with heaps of chilli to make it acceptable to the locals - Thai-ella) Coq au Vin - Coq currently marinating in my fridge ready to cook tomorrow.
  20. I think all Beer Lao varieties use rice, as do many other beers. Whether or not (or why) it should never be added to beer it still ends up as a better than average drink. Chang also has rice, maybe they should add more.
  21. As far as I know that's always been a requirement, certainly was for the 2 applications I made last year. And both times wanted not only evidence of your residence/presence but also full details of travel plans/bookings from the relevant country to Thailand.
