I will be very very happy when it is all over...

They must have read my post...seems they have turned it off at 8am..fingers crosssed....question remains did they really need to do it at 6;30 am? Did none of the police across the street think gee maybe we should tell them to wait a few hours? I wonder if the idiots got up this early to make noise or maybe they just woke up after late night cocktails and decide lets play rap at top volume at 6;30 in the morning. I used to live in upcountry thailand and yes lot of dogs and roosters etc but nothing at all like having rap music at a zillion decibels at 6;30 am from massive speakers.

I live very near the beach/Hilton. As most know they have set up for the big holiday party with stages for the entertainers and massive sound systems. The noise is almost unbearable...it went on off and on most of sunday at very loud volumes. On sunday night it was still super loud with lot of rap/hiphop type "music"...this went on til after midnight last night. If that was not enough it started up again at 6;30 am this morning, monday, louder than ever. It is now almost 8 am and still going strong. They seem to be testing the system or just playing it for their own amusement. Of course this is basically across the street from the soi 9 police station whose windows no doubt are vibrating from the noise. And yet obviously there is no effort to wallk across the street and tell those idiots to cut it out. Surely there must be some rules/law against this? Maybe the cops are too busy setting up to hand out tickets to passing motobikes to notice? Yes I know TIT but even here is it really necessary to start it up at 6;30 am no doubt waking up thousands of people who live or stay in hotels anywhere near the beach?

Greed....fueled by too many people that do not know the difference between what they need and what they want.

80 sounds really old until you are 78 or so...then if you are still in decent health, which i seem to be, you may well start having thoughts of gee maybe i have another ten years or so left of decent health? I am amazed i didn't have a heart attack in my 40's when i worked all the time with high levels of stress jobs, lived on two to three packs of cigs and way too much coffee every day...then finally wised up about 52, retired to Thailand, basically ended cigs excess coffee and loads of stress. I do now get a lot of tests every year back in usa where i have insurance to cover most anything. So far i have had no major problems and get annual checkups to hopefully deal with any issues early...and so far all the numbers are normal to good. It is a good feeling when results come back with no apparent problems...but every year i seem to hold my breath waiting for results as I recognize that I am indeed on a downslope and so far have been very fortunate to dodge a lot of the issues that have already gotten a lot of friends. I watch lots and lots of old friends who are in horrible shape..or dead.. at age 70 with all kinds of problems and comparatively I have very little to complain about. Bottom line is it is all about health. But you also realize that can change and no matter test results they may not always identify stuff that may be lurking. As i get older I do find that my daily exercise/swimming as well as keeping the mind active by lot of reading and trying to learn more thai seem to be even more important. All the nonsense that I used to be concerned with especially more more $$ more more stuff etc is not much of a gauge of success. Would you rather be rich and sick or just ok financially and healthy? I suspect most would choose health. How long do I want to live? As long as I retain my mental and physical good /decent health. How long is that? If i had a crystal ball i would have won the billion dollar lottery decades ago and i could be old rich and healthy.

Looking at those stats maybe if they quickly deport those african hookers the police just saved a lot of local Pattaya people from getting HIV. No doubt these gals would indeed get some customers and somehow I suspect would be fine with no condoms for a few baht more....and highly likely that the customers these gals would get would jump right back into the local thai hookers pool and pass around whatever bug they may have gotten. Good job IF they deport them...not so good if just a fine and back to biz as usual.

And yet there are still a lot of guys who seem to love to brag about how they don't use condoms or pay a gal extra not to have to use a condom. I really don't care about these guys as they obviously do not care if they get and spread all sorts of nasty bugs around to their sex partners. Stick it in enough places unprotected and sooner or later you are likely to get an unpleasant bug or worse. If you have unprotected sex tonight with a gal that has had same with ten different guys in last five days you open yourself to getting whatever these guys may be spreading around. Good luck with that.

Some of their customers are not exactly tom cruise I suspect.

Well there is a large number of right wing folks in USA right now that are trying to shove all their christian BS down everyone's throat and want the USA to be a christian nation where all public tax funded school kids are futher indoctrinated/brainwashed into the christian religion BS in direct violation of the constitution, women are told what they can do with their bodies by right wing "christian" politicians, evangelicals openly preach and engage in politics in direct defiance of being given a tax free status worth billions upon billions of unpaid taxes on church properties and incomes ...and it is getting worse with every passing day. Now along comes more religious nutcases with all of the BS that they were indoctrinated where they were born moving to other countries and demanding that their religion and set of weird rules/beliefs should prevail. The fact of the matter is your particular religion is mostly a result of where you happened to be born. If you were born in England or American you are likely christian. Italy? Catholic. Israel? Jewish. Mid East or Indonesia? Muslim. Thailand? Buddhist....and so on. In a nutshell it is all about where you were brainwashed as a kid and subjected to peer pressure to fall into line and declare YOUR religion is the one that has it all correct and should be followed worldwide. What you have is a giant pissing contest mess. Religions have been a root cause of violence and conflict worldwide for centuries and it is getting worse...As John Lenno said: Imagine NO RELIGION.

Well i would guess his great great grandparents did not come to UK or US or Caribbean on vacation..... more than 3.5 million slaves were shipped from Nigeria to North and South America and the Caribbean colonies.

i believe you will find that most of the black population in the US a few hundred years ago arrived in chains to be exploited by the wealthy plantation owners....although they made lots of money maybe the USA and world would be a different place today if they had left these folks in africa alone? As usual the rich got richer and most everyone else was left to clean up their mess.

agree..thais love little more than, eat drink and be merry...twinkling lights as a bonus....love to believe in fantasy stuff like santa and flying reindeers?.....and if somebody gives you a gift out of the clear blue even better. I think they do a good job of celebrating christmas without all the "christ/savior "you going to heaven/hell stuff....in usa it is all about shopping eating getting drunk being shamed into pretending you are a real christian and being almost forced into buying a bunch of gifts for a lot of people you don't even like and having to pretend to like a lot of gifts that you secretly think are just awful.

I am thinking of going away during peak peak season...if i then let property manger run it as an airbnb it would be worth a lot of $$ to me. Maybe go to vietnam or ? for few months and make enough to cover most of my one year rent. But i doubt i will do it as only encourages more airbnb takeovers and I have seen enough of how airbnb has evolved to promote illegal rentals all in name of big profits. They do not give a crap if it is legal as long as the money flows. The hammer is dropping on many airbnb illegal rentals around the world but thailand with little to no enforcement is perfect for them. Worst for me is the pool which fills up with tons of inconsiderate short timers who smoke, talk non stop loudly on phone and have no clue how to be considerate in a swimming pool...i often wonder if it is their first time in a pool but am sure they have been around lot of water as they have the brain of a tadpole. And then there are the elevators which really make you wonder if it is first time on elevator for many who try to get on before people get off etc.?

i was there in august and it was brutally hot and humid...also had a typhon come through and poured rain for several days...it was so hot that a ten minute walk had u dripping wet with sweat like an april day in bangkok. Not pleasant at all. Found overall prices to be not so bad for basic type restaurants and mall food courts.

Bs...so you are lazy if you don't want to read pages of fine print....are you also lazy if you can't read a full tv screeen of fine print in one second? Who wrote all that fine print knowing full well it would be difficult if not impossible to read and then they can claim you were told? Lawyers.

Don't you love the TV screen that flashes a full screen of fine print that nobody can even see much less read in the one second it is on the screen? If judges had any gonads they would throw out cases brought regarding fine print disclosures...but judges were also once lawyers so they are part of the problem and not part of a solution.

So if you are 5 feet tall and 135 lbs and you get attacked by a 6 foot ++ 250 lb guy you would not want any help from your friends even when the attack happens in your yard? It's not exactly a fair fight to attack someone half your size so don't be surprised when the tables can quickly turn. It is rare that i have ever seen any report of a Thai pulling a gun on a farang.

maybe because it seems many of them ignore the carry on bag + one personal item and haul on all sorts of junk to cram it into overhead bin space depriving later arriving passengers of "their" space....generally very little enforcement of the rules except ironically on the very cheapest airlines who will enforce the rules mostly so they can collect extra fees for having them check their extra bags...

i have never used any of them here in thailand...so are they all out of china or ?...Lazada seems to send lot of stuff to my current condo building....no idea re shopee...I just want a decent company with decent products and no hassles. Thanks for info
