I had a dream last night. I had become the worst racist , misogynist , anti LGBTQIA you could possibly imagine. Then I woke up. -
Putin ? Just a wild guess.

What on earth has Vietnam got to do with the CCP and Chinese cars ? Very poor attempt at deflection. This is about Chinese cars and the what the CCP are doing today , to their own citizens and possibly to the Taiwanese , although I doubt they will ever attack Taiwan since they are scared of the consequences.

Yea right, all except this one : and one or two of his friends, some of whom never lived to express their devotion to the CCP

I agree with your sentiments and admire your viewpoint. I have close friends in Taiwan and for years they have had to put up with the threats of violence from the CCP. Of course , the tentacles of Chinese industry are so widespread that it is nigh on impossible to buy electrical good that don't have a Chinese component. But it does not follow that I should think ' Oh to hell with what the CCP are doing, I just want what's best for me and the devil take the hindmost ' And then make no attempt to minimize the amount of tax revenue the CCP can collect to use in pursuing their expansionist aims. It reminds me of people who take zero interest in this or that disease but as soon they or one of the loved ones gets struck down by one they devote themselves to awareness campaigns and go fund me activities. Not until something bad touches them personally do they feel the bite. Their indifference and apathy that went before stand in stark contrast to their new aware ness. As for this : Ugly front end and likely will not hold its value as well as a Toyota. Cheaper is more expensive in the end.

Do you cook your own food in Thailand?
Denim replied to Don Chance's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Cant remember the last time we ate out in the evening. Sometime pre covid when friends visited. We are both good cooks with different menus and our own meals are better than anything we could buy outside with one or two exceptions. Midday we might buy a takeaway one or twice a week but take it home to eat it. -

Yup. Get an old one with tax and insurance and it will do as makeshift lodging and storage unit. There is an app you can download to your smartphone called Park4Night. It has maps showing all places where you can safely park overnight for free. A simple van conversion is not expensive until you can find permanent accommodation. You can even get these sold on so no need to do the conversion yourself. Better and safer than trying to sleep rough.

Life without a credit card in Thailand
Denim replied to poppysdad's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Apparently , cash is making a bit of a comeback with people feeling the financial pinch. People are turning to ' cash stuffing ' to cover their outgoings. This method involves withdrawing a large sum of cash and dividing it into separate envelopes to cover various bills etc. People say it is easier to keep track of and control their spending rather than going cashless and swiping everything. As for credit cards , very useful. Can even be a life saver. Had to go into hospital a few years back and ran up a bill of over 120,000. Paid using credit card...no problem. When I was checking into hospital the waiting room was full of people waiting while stressed out staff tried to contact their insurance companies to confirm cover. I was straight in no waiting. -
Perseverance pays off. I am beginning to see a pattern at this particular Tesco. Discounted wine appears , gets snapped up , then nothing at all for 3 months.....not a sausage. Then , after three month mark .....they pop up again and disappear. So now , I am keeping the dates in my diary so that I know when some is due. I am ashamed to say that although on the first occasion I decided not to be greedy , and only tooe 2 bottles ( allowing others a chance ) , I subsequently thought ' Oh to hell with considering others richer than myself ' and just grabbed all 4 bottles on display. Still not opened any yet as waiting for my other half to recover from Covid ( which passed me by ).

Gracku has a side effect that might be useful to some but perhaps risky to others. That is , it lowers blood pressure quite a lot. I take Amlodipine 5mg for high blood pressure which as far as I can see makes no impact at all. Other blood pressure medicines are better but the effect is short lasting. I keep a pack of Gracku handy for when my blood pressure tops 165. Just half a tablet reduces this to normal and the effect can last a few days until my BP normalizes. So.....if you are going to take Gracku be aware of this since if you continue with your BP medication , then take a whole Graku, and then drink heavily your blood pressure will be getting a triple whammy which might not be a good idea.
