  1. People are uniting because it's on their doorstep and are scared. Rightly so,i would be. Ukraine is the buffer zone and getting smashed.
  2. Be interesting to know how all this works money wise. We know the russian currency is falling. What about Ukraine, all these other government pledges. Will all these weapons come at a cost, have to be paid for?
  3. Yes we've got work to do. I did the stats for the game and we ended up with 1 kick, one handball.???? Looks like we are a bit short of height in defense,a bit light bodied in the guts and didn't get a look at the forwards. I'm happy for Brown to have success,he gave his all as a kanga so deserves it. The season is sneaking up fast.
  4. Last time i enquired it was 20 baht for a small square bale here which is why nobody does it. If someone needs straw for animals they organize to have peoples rice harvest transported and threshed at their land into a pile. Harvesting for rice had a 600 baht/rai cap from the government, that may of changed. Corn i don't know.
  5. Member Kickstart knows more about corn in general as there is a lot more demand for the product in his area. Some farmers will grow corn in the dry season after rice but only a few do that around here. If we plant corn here as a main crop it is seeded mid april and harvested mid july,it gets to wet here after then. I normally do about 15 -20 rai a day harvesting but for me it's about drying space after harvesting not how much i can do in a day. A lot of corn here is still picked and husks removed by hand before going to the buyer to shell. After harvest i use a slasher/brushhog to mow the stalks and leave on the surface.
  6. We farm in the Chumphae area of Khon Kaen. Yes it's an original Kubota corn kit. Takes me about 3 hours to change parts over and works good once i added more angle to the fingers to stop cobs falling out of the front. On the row spacings used here(600 and 750mm) you only harvest 3 rows at a time. Farmers around here are to tight to pay for most things. I did see one rice harvester last harvest but how much work it got i don't know. I used to grow corn yearly but as i said the army worm and extra spraying insecticide passes turned me off. This year i will be attempting my first harvest of sesame seed with the harvester. In the past i've done rice, sunn hemp and corn with it,grains are easy as only real change is the screen size and adjusting fan speed.
  7. I have a corn kit that adapts my Kubota dc-70g harvester from grains to corn. The government was talking about heavily taxing any 2nd hand agriculture machinery imported, whether it happened with covid i don't know. Only a small amount of corn is grown in my area and even less since the armyworm landed in Thailand.
  8. You really need to hop in the pickup and have a drive around. Each area is different on how advanced the farmers are. Have a look in a few machinery dealerships, one near me has two claas big balers for sale. Then take a drive to the corporate companies near,we have a sugar factory close by so that would explain why the dealer has balers in stock. Some Kubota dealers have small square balers on display, some don't. 2nd hand balers can be found online at places like jssr auctions and truck2ndhand.com.
  9. If you can find an agronomist whose up to date with techniques. Some companies may be able to help with that,a company near me is a major corn buyer. They will come and help with fertilizer, chemicals, seed variety as long as you buy the products from them. They also have a drone service if required. There are also people who run private workshops on growing certain crops. And there also should be local Thai's in your amphur dedicated to helping with farm advice. I myself find the internet a good source if you have the time and know what your looking for.

You could make your own with a machine similar to this. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/pro-chipper-1-i2537729715-s12252918843.html?exlaz=d_1:mm_150050845_51350205_2010350205::12:13920044294!125392363912!!!pla-294682000766!c!294682000766!12252918843!537268826&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInK_k6bWd9gIV-ZlmAh2vQw1ZEAQYAiABEgI9X_D_BwE
  11. All the talk is about border security. The food bowl and commodities may play more of a part than stated.
  12. A song often played in my younger years when start time didn't matter.
  13. I think the labour determines the build. If using village labour forget the aac blocks unless they can show you some of their work from the past. You should do a list of sundries for the build otherwise they will use what they can find, things like stabilizers for doors and windows and boards for the cement work. Large size tiles on the floor and you will end up with softfoot.
  14. Normally 4pm,4 big botts of leo and finished by 9.30. Sleep like a log.
  15. Hi KS Great informative post. Yes always good to be on the right side of an ashes win. Did 8 hours straight on the tractor yesty so should finish today. Then will need a massage to get the kink out of my neck. Plenty of other tractor action around here, must have seen 4 while working mainly preparing sugar fields. I finally lashed out on what i think will be a decent moisture meter,it's a chinese copy of a kett but the important thing is it can be calibrated against the rice mills kett. All part of looking to store grains longer on the farm. http://www.agri-instrument.com/grain-moisture-meter-3.html
  16. Been a quiet month on the farm.(mostly watching cricket) Had an excavator in to put in a dam at the top of the small rice field section,it only ever grew weeds there so think i can fill it with runoff water from the road which could then in turn gravity feed 18 rai when required. Have 16 rai prepped and sprayed ready to plant sunn hemp in next week or so. We have been fortunate to receive 43mm of rain in the past couple of days so now busy with the 4 disc plough turning under rice stubble, after years of no-till some of the land needs breaking up again. As we know farming has it challenges and one of my worst fears has always been getting a flat rear tyre on the 6610. It happened after day one of ploughing,i should of changed the tyres last year, well 5 years a go to be honest. So a trip to town to find a decent 2nd hand 16.9r34 as have one in the shed,no luck but managed to find a couple of old 18.4r34's at two different places and got one of them to come fit them. Two hours after the guy fitted them and left i heard air coming from the shed, sure enough one was going down without a wheel turned. Now fair play to him as he was back here at 7 this morning to fix it and i was ploughing again by 8. Should complete the work in 3 days and say good riddance to the 4 disc plough for another few years.
  17. I would say not common in use in Thailand, there are other granite mines down Lopburi way if you wanted to persist. On the pea gravel closest i've seen is the stuff used for the sandstone finish which i had at my place. Pretty sure the guys got it in small bags from global house.
  18. If your in the country there might be a quarry close enough to get fines from that would do the same job.
  19. Any local AG shop that sells chemicals for rice production could give you an idea. I would try bispyribac sodium, might need to find a larger shop as a bit more expense than what Thai's generally use. Your better off to do it before water starts flowing otherwise higher amounts are required.
  20. I'm not surprised at my dealer. Took my 4 year old BT-50 pro with 48,000 km's on the clock for a service and best they would do was 850,000 baht changeover on the new model with cash. .
  21. This afternoon i placed a clamp meter on the welder and had mrs fj reading it. At 150 amp setting it draws up to 16 amps. At 300 amp setting it was drawing up to 38 amps.(i only did an inch long weld) I guess i should be happy with the result and just upgrade the plug and cables to main supply for any heat issues, any thoughts?
  22. The first job coming up is 15mm plate. I only have 3.2mm rods so will just use them for now till i upgrade the plugs and cable to the main breaker. I know the welder will do 140 amps with 3.2 rods as is. (well 140 on the screen)
  23. So should i still change the plugs as i will have some higher end amp welding to do later on?
  24. The supply cables are fine as they come direct from the AVR 20 metres away. So i have no voltage drop on the welding side.
