  1. If your in the country there might be a quarry close enough to get fines from that would do the same job.
  2. Any local AG shop that sells chemicals for rice production could give you an idea. I would try bispyribac sodium, might need to find a larger shop as a bit more expense than what Thai's generally use. Your better off to do it before water starts flowing otherwise higher amounts are required.
  3. I'm not surprised at my dealer. Took my 4 year old BT-50 pro with 48,000 km's on the clock for a service and best they would do was 850,000 baht changeover on the new model with cash. .
  4. This afternoon i placed a clamp meter on the welder and had mrs fj reading it. At 150 amp setting it draws up to 16 amps. At 300 amp setting it was drawing up to 38 amps.(i only did an inch long weld) I guess i should be happy with the result and just upgrade the plug and cables to main supply for any heat issues, any thoughts?
  5. The first job coming up is 15mm plate. I only have 3.2mm rods so will just use them for now till i upgrade the plugs and cable to the main breaker. I know the welder will do 140 amps with 3.2 rods as is. (well 140 on the screen)
  6. So should i still change the plugs as i will have some higher end amp welding to do later on?
  7. The supply cables are fine as they come direct from the AVR 20 metres away. So i have no voltage drop on the welding side.
  8. So how did you come to that conclusion?
  9. So i would need two sets to have an extension cord as well. @sometimewoodworker on page two of this thread is a picture and details if you open the link.
  10. The shed has its own main power with a 60 amp breaker and fuse so will have to upgrade the wire size and outlet. Sorry picture is a bit dark.
  11. Hi Crossy, I don't have the ability to bypass. It is a 50kva AVR. My electrical knowledge is not great but say i did bypass the AVR with my power supply then wouldn't the welder turn from a 300 amp machine to say a 50 amp one.
  12. Will check next time it's out of the box. I don't think there is anyway to tell on the welder. Is there a test i can do to find out.(multimeter, clamp meter) Manual is in Thai but the jist i get is it will draw 12,500 watts at 300 amps. I run an AVR which will show lights but not numbers.
  13. I can only give actual results of voltage drop from my use. And i was still getting a 30 volt drop at 105 amps with the inverter welder,i had my wife reading the AVR meter while i was welding.
  14. I don't think they will eat the weeds away. There are chemicals you can use and available if you don't want to pull by hand.
  15. Look in better condition than a lot of cattle i see in my parts.
  16. Which comes back to cheap welding machines,i'm sure britman has mastered his machine after hours of use and happy for what he wants but what's on the technical data label of the welder is well, quite misleading.
  17. Not probably, will be unless your off to the races.
  18. Something is not right there. 200 amps for a 2mm rod. It must be causing a huge voltage drop from the mains power. making welding more difficult. Anyway as you say,set it for the conditions. On the welder i bought there is a circuit breaker on/off on the back of machine to start/stop. On the front panel there is an on/off switch which i presume is for the arc force/hot start feature or one or the other.
  19. Just got the welder out of the box so a quick review. Bit of rusty 2mm plate,3.2 rb-26 rod and a 20 metre extension cord to the welder. Even with the hot start, still hard to initial strike on the rusty plate and an old rod. But everything else exceeded expectations. 5 metre leads give you room to move and machine is light to move around. Comes with a lock up box to keep other hands off it. 3.2 rod at 105 amps only dropped voltage back to 190 volts meter side of AVR. The old transformer welder would drop to 160, the weld would be <deleted> and the power would cut out. So an inverter welder gets a tick from me,should of got one years a go.
  20. More commonly know as a platebasher to fitters.???? Been in my fair share of chutes and glad those days they are over.
  21. Hey Britmantoo, How many amps is that welder of yours? I can't find any info on it other than shopee or lazada.in thai. Trying to get my head around the pricing structure of these inverter welders.
  22. Thanks for the reply. I did some googling and found what i was after with the dials,it's an inverter thing. Old welder works ,its a non inverter heavy lug of a thing and any decent sort of a weld will trip the fuses or cause the AVR to delay power for a few seconds.. I'm hoping the inverter might be more efficient/stable. Will find out as i have a dozer chassis i'm about to modify.
  23. To right, coming up for a double life sentence in a couple of years. And haven't experienced a premiership in that time. Still nothing like 9 games of footy a week to keep the marriage strong.????
  24. https://www.automac.co.th/products/welder/เครื่องเชื่อมไฟฟ้า-automac-arc-300x I just purchased this welding machine as my old one draws to much power. Only ever used to adjusting an amp dial on a stick welder. To the welders out there,is the hot start dial more for harder striking rods like low hydrogen or just as handy for older moist gp rods. And what does the arc force dial achieve?
