Air purifier again!
If you opt for Dyson be prepared for disastrous spare part availability. I bought a vacuum cleaner and had to wait anything between 8 and 26 weeks for replacement parts, which of course came from Malaysia but were priced extremely high. What good is it having a Dyson that is out of service for 6 months, and all it was was a simple low tech plastic dust hopper. I replaced my Dyson with a much less expensive and much more reliable brand.

Chiang Mai close to flooding ........ Again
I cannot access the website that I have used for years. It simply times out. Typical. So Anutin is going to invest 100 billion in flood defences for Ayutthaya and the capital but CM gets damn all except a city government and a regional government that are both devoid of action. The dredging that was carried out recently was minimal and at the river margins so maybe improved things by 10%, but we still face widespread flooding in the next few days if the forecast rains arrive. How .9ng before people here rise up against this wilful neglect.

COVID vaccinations
Well the collective stupidity that is Artificial Intelligence gives bad advice. CM Mediclinic, which I use for flu vax, does not list COVID vax as one of their services. When I asked them a short time ago they said it was not possible for them to get the vaccine. And Boston Polyclinic do not even list vaccinations as one of their services. That leaves Bkk Hospital which I will not use after two bad experiences there. Sorry I cannot give positive advice. I am also searching for an answer.

Vejthani Hospital who has experience
Seems the OP needs more help with geography than anything else. This is the Chiang Mai forum, and CM is located in northern Thailand. The hospital referred to is in Bank Kapil, Bangkok which is a good 800 Kms away from CM and I doubt if many CM residents/ ASEAN Now members visit a hospital that far away.

Another earthquake, but only a little one, just after 2pm
Much less movement than the one a few weeks back. I thought the cat had jumped on my chair but she was still asleep on the sofa. Now we wait for the next shake 555.

Alcohol Sales Ban?
Yes there is always a ban on an election day, so tonight May 10 from 6 pm until 6 pm tomorrow Sunday is the dry period. It was always going to be dry because May 11 is also Visaka Bucha. The announced relaxation of the alcohol ban covers such a restricted definition of places that no bars or restaurants would be able to open.

Bangkok Hospital ACL reconstruction
Rather than selecting a hospital consider the surgeon who will conduct the procedure. I have had treatment from Dr Chanakarn on shoulders and ankles with excellent results. A friend recently had a knee op and is very satisfied. Dr Chanakarn will allow you to choose your hospital and also has his own clinic for primary care on Charoenprathet Rd where in the evening he consults for about 2 hours but does not take bookings so it is a question of turn up and wait. He is a consultant to the national sports team and very busy but he is also very compassionate. You can find his clinic on Google.

Orthopedics at RAM Hospital
I have had good experience of Dr Chanakarn who dealt with a shoulder issue of mine at Ram. He also dealt with an Achilles tendon problem of mine at his clinic on Charoenprathet Rd. His treatment using anti inflammatory drugs cost me less than 5000 thb whereas at another very high profile hospital their specialist wanted to conduct surgery on a heel spur for 130 000 thb to deal with the same pain problem. Dr Chanakarn did not believe the spur was the source of the pain and here I am 18 months later without having needed surgery. His clinic is open nightly and does not use appointments, you just turn up and wait. Check Google Maps for directions.

Looking for a small job contractor
When I wanted my bathroom floor and shower retiled, new washbasin & new toilet Boonthavorn would not even look at it. Too small. I got a single guy to do it all but sadly he has moved onto other things.

Red wine special occasion
Without knowing the food you will drink it with, your personal likes and your budget it isn't possible to answer your question. Rimping and Food Hall in Festival have decent selections but lack knowledgeable staff to guide you. The very best place with the biggest selection and knowledgeable staff is Enoteca, located at the rear of the 5th Avenue office park on the 1001 near Meechok Plaza. They have more old world than new world wines and their prices are surprisingly reasonable given the quality available. Personally I see no need to spend more than 2000 baht on a really well made enjoyable wine.

CNX Airport early 2025
CNX ought to be able to handle way more aircraft movements. Gatwick in the UK handles at least 3 times as many take-offs and landings per day, is closed for part of the night (unlike CNX) and is a single runway operation. So correct investment in equipment and staff can handle far more traffic than now but the terminals are unable to handle much more throughput so the planned rebuilding is crucial.

3 dead, 48 wounded in explosive attack in festival in Umphang
Thai media report that it was a military grade grenade of Myanmar army origin and was thrown by teenagers, one of whom is already known to be involved in drug related offences. As Tak is close to the Myanmar border and has many Karen refugees it is suspected that this event is linked to the civil war and or drug trafficking.

Flooding in CM?
At 9pm the level of the Ping in Sansai is 80 cm higher than at the Nawarat measuring station and the water flow is rising fast. The forecast is for the river to peak in the city at 2 am at levels way higher than even 2011. This is a real crisis for many people and for many businesses still trying to recover from the enormous damage caused by the COVID crises.
-
Weather warning from US Embassy
For what? The level of the Ping river has actually been dropping in the last 24 hrs and the early week flooding upcountry was well covered by news media as well as social media. So this is old news and has ,ittle or np beating as the weather forecast is for rain to ease off.

Quiet and durable fan
Dyson spares are a nightmare to get and very expensive. My vacuum cleaner, 9 weeks for a new battery that you cannot install yourself, 26 weeks for a dust collection bin that is made in Malaysia! I would never buy Dyson again.

Cheese
Rimping Meechok have a selection of Mainland Cheddar cheeses ranging from a mild young Cheddar to a Tasty and on occasions a Vintage. Stock varies but there is always at least two ages from which to choose.

Looking for a physiotherapist / sports therapist
I second Dr Chanakarn. He recently dealt with my long lasting Achilles tendon issue by prescribing anti inflammatory and muscle relaxant tablets plus stretching and walking modification exercises. After 4 months it is almost totally resolved at a cost of a few thousand baht, compared to a surgery proposal by a top line hospital at a cost of 130000 thb. Oh, he is also team doctor to the national sports team so he knows what he id doing. His clinic is very busy and does not take appointments but I highly recommend a visit. Google Maps is your friend.

Diabetes Epedemic
As a type 2 sufferer I fail to understand why it is not possible to purchase a Continuous Glucose Monitor in Thailand, unlike many Western countries. These easy to use devices give out realtime information on glucose levels without the finger prick. This greatly enhanced our ability to understand the impact that foods have and modify our eating to minimise sugar spikes. Why does this country prevent us living a more carefully managed life? I suspect there is pressure from the likes of hospitals that want to control their use and make big bucks.

"Hello - Doi Suthep - where are you?" cough cough cough
Khun La you are wrong, in my part of CM the AQI was over 300 on Thursday for many hours and hardly ever goes below 200 for many weeks. There is nothing to be gained by minimising the issue.

Thai PM Spearheads ‘IGNITE THAILAND’S TOURISM’ Meeting, Aims for Global Tourism Boost
IGNITE Thailand! Chiang Mai is deeply affected by pollution caused by fires ignited by village idiots and farmers employed by giant conglomerates. He won't declare CM an emergency zone because he wants to protect tourism! Does he not realise that tourists are already falling ill, are already cancelling visits, are already telling their friends what a hell hole this place is. Ignite Thailand is where the future destruction of tourism and the health of it's people lies. Srettha is beyond being a fool he is complicated in condemning people to illness.

Thai-Hungarian officials discuss mutual cooperation
Snuggling up with the government that is a Putin supporter. Disgusting, shameful but what is to be expected from Srettha who would kiss the devil just to get his photo taken.

Thaksin’s political resurrection starts with crucial Chiang Mai test
Is it coincidental that pollution has hit the year's highest since he arrived and was followed around by a rent a crowd movb of grannies!

Thaksin pays respect at Bangkok city pillar shrine before leaving for Chiang Mai
There has been an unpleasant stench around Chiang Mai that I thought must be a local pig farm, but no it is the reeking fossil himself. Doesn't he realise the voters have moved on and no longer will vote for a criminal billionaire who has never done anything meaningful for his oh do beloved home. Can't wait to wave him good-bye as he departs in his personal private jet paid for from taxes he never paid.
