  1. Exactly correct, and the truly terrible aspect of that is that it means there's no deterrent, so there's nothing holding drivers back from pulling incredibly ignorance stunts like this one. No fear of repercussions, no fear of losing your license, no fear of massive fines for reckless driving. Thailand is truly one of the most lawless nations in the world, when it comes to the highways, and it's a boil on the face of the nation.
  2. Certain an absolutely ignorant move. Why such recklessness? It's likely he had family members in his car. Is he really in that much of a hurry? Is this just a man who simply has no control over his own nature, no ability to deal with his impatience, no capability of taking a couple deep breaths and saying I don't want to take that risk, I really don't want to eliminate my family today. I think I want to continue living my life, which is pretty good. Let me just be slightly careful and not do something of a historically ignorant, careless and mindlessly stupid nature.
  3. I truly hope that I end up buying the ranch and dropping dead long before they eliminate cash from this planet. That will be a very sad day. I simply do not want to give up that level of control to the government's and the bank mafias.
  4. Yes I find that I am faced with daily peculiarities too, and the best way for me to approach them is water off a ducks back. If I didn't want peculiar and strange I wouldn't have moved to Thailand. I have a black friend who feels the same way, he says that he's always prejudged because of the way he looks. I guess that's just the nature of Thai people they tend to make snap judgments about people based on their appearance.
  5. One thing that I've noticed after living in Thailand for a decade and a half is that the cities and areas that attract a lot of tourists, and expats, like Chiang Mai, Samui, Phuket and Pattaya in particular, seem to have a lot of locals that are somewhat jaded and they just don't seem very interested or amused by us. My guess is that there are a fair number of foreign lowlifes, fools or arrogant folks, that they deal with and, they're just over it. If you want to get warmth and kindness and humor from the Thais, my recommendation is to move away from those areas, there are plenty of smaller towns where the locals are people delightful to be around. Also I find Thai people quite intuitive and they're very responsive to the energy that you're putting out, so if you're putting out good energy and your humorous, and you're making the exchange pleasant and fun, they will often times respond to that in a nice manner.
  6. 1. Thai men do not seem to be interested in a divorcee over 40. 2. Thai men do not seem to be interested in a woman who has children with her last boyfriend or husband. 3. I barely think we factor into the equation, if there's a half a million expats here in Thailand and every single one of them had a Thai girlfriend or wife, that's just a small percent of the population of women, so I don't think we're really that big a factor. 4. My woman is quite young and attractive and she does get attention from Thai men, but I've never once gotten a nasty look from a Thai man, or even a disapproving glance. So that kind of backs up my theory. We just don't matter much.
  7. That's really cute you might consider taking your show on the road, you might be able to make a living doing stand-up. I don't get triggered easily, and I don't get particularly upset when some guy or gal in front of me can't figure out how to pay with their phone. it just seems ridiculous and it's astonishing how frequently I'm behind somebody that's fumbling with their phone. Some people seem to have a pretty good handle on how to scan with their phone and how to use these payment apps with their phone. Other people just seem completely lost, and all I'm saying is that maybe prior to walking in the store somebody should be prepared with their app if they're pathetic enough to not carry a small amount of cash?
  8. I have no idea if cadmium being stored like that is a health or environmental hazard however cadmium is known to be quite toxic. Epidemiological data suggest that occupational and environmental cadmium exposure may be related to various types of cancer, including breast, lung, prostate, nasopharynx, pancreas, and kidney cancers. It has been also demonstrated that environmental cadmium may be a risk factor for osteoporosis. The liver and kidneys are extremely sensitive to cadmium’s toxic effects. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7312803/
  9. Well, I think anybody would feel some security if they had access to that much money through their cards. A lot of people in that position would also carry a few thousand baht cash, what's the big deal?
  10. I totally agree but you have to take into account Mike Lister tends to be a bit of contrarian.
  11. I hope you feel better now that you got that off your chest, sounds like you were having a rough day. I have a couple of brands of laxatives I could recommend.
  12. I've certainly reached an age where I have common sense, and I like to about allow for multiple variables, a poor internet connection, the app is down, who knows what all the variables are? For me, my question is not how much to carry but why on earth would anyone leave home without a wad of cash in their pocket?
  13. You have practicality, you have common sense, and you are intelligent. Unfortunately not everybody is blessed with those qualities.
  14. I feel just the opposite, I think it's the correct thing to do and I think it makes a strong statement. Embarrassment can be a very powerful tool in Thailand, you're holding up the entire line, do you have any consciousness of that? Carry some cash with you for God's sake, just in case something goes wrong, in case your app's not working, in case, in case, in case, in case. Please just apply common sense.
  15. I think we all take advantage of online payments from time to time, and online wallets, things like that. The point is why wouldn't a person carry around some cash, for contingencies and why wouldn't somebody have 50 or 100 baht in their pocket to buy some coffee? To me that's just another indication of the spectacular weakness of our current generation.
  16. The autopsy will prove very useful, it will show that he was killed by three bullets penetrating his body.
  17. So far they have failed using nearly any metric one could devise. The economy is just one aspect of this. They are an inferior administration by any measurement, and most importantly They were not democratically elected, but rather appointed by the toxic army and the powers that be.
  18. Nothing worse than standing in a line behind some guy or gal, fooling around with their phone trying to get the payment app to work so they can pay for a 20 or 40 baht item at 7-Eleven. Or an 80 baht coffee. There have been times I've been so frustrated with the four or five minutes that this person is fooling around with their phone that I pulled out 20 or 40 baht and handed it to them. Here, take it, pay for it move on please. In my opinion real man always carry cash. I hope that digital currency never takes over. I love having a wad of cash in my pocket. Always have and always will.
  19. Both parties are absolute debt hounds. I'm not married to the democrats, I prefer some of their policy over the republicans but I consider both parties to be quite toxic.
  20. After a 15-day long forensic accounting of the federal budget, the projections, the expenditures and the dropping of executive orders, I calculate the net deficit during Trump's tenure to be $7,885,500,000,000.
  21. Anybody want to bet whether or not he was wearing a seat belt? The problem with parked cars and trucks, telephone poles, and trees, is that they're very inflexible and when you hit them at high speed something very bad is going to happen. We know that this is the last mistake he'll ever make.
  22. The Thai people urge Anutin to get tough with the corrupt RTP. The Thai people urge Anutin to get tough with the corrupt immigration agents. The Thai people urgent Anutin to crack down on the terrible air quality and bring some punishment to the sugar farmers and the sugar refiners, make them pay a price. The Thai people ask Anutin to crack down on the corrupt officials within his own administration, and while you're at it go ahead and crack down in the corrupt army officials too. In other words, do some actual work for a change.
  23. A Russian man I know who I was speaking to about how the Russians are supporting themselves here in Thailand said that 90% of all Russians earning over $60,000 a year (which is likely the threshold that would be required for them to spend some time overseas) are involved in crime. 90%! So if they're involved in crime at home what do the authorities hear think that they will be doing in Thailand? Think about it guys! You invite anyone and everyone in and what are you going to have? Havoc that's what you're going to have. Cossack style havoc.
  24. Not so sure about that. Republicans have a way of ranting over the debt, then adding to it. A better way to measure how much President Trump added to the debt is to evaluate the ten-year debt impact of the laws and executive orders he signed. We estimate that those added a combined $8.4 trillion to the debt over a ten-year period – consistent with Haley’s claim. https://www.crfb.org/blogs/how-much-did-president-trump-add-debt
  25. I wouldn't be surprised if he was running one of these operations, that's how crooked he is.
