  1. A reasonably good point. However, the locals on Samui are well aware of the trash. And yet they choose to ignore it. And the mayor is largely to blame. So are the leading families on Samui. Shame on them for their extreme lack of pride. It is an easy and inexpensive thing to keep these beaches clean. And with the money they generate from tourism, the trash is a very sad indictment on the leadership on Samui. When I lived there, sometimes the island felt like a very old dishrag, which had been used several hundred too many times.
  2. This man has never had any respect for the rule of law. And he has been in denial for a very long time. The fact that he lost by such a wide margin, even though he likely cheated, is quite an indictment. No Don, the election was not stolen. You were unceremoniously ushered out of DC, and the people said enough of your nonsense. You were a bull in a china closet, created mayhem, chaos, hatred, decision, and nearly caused a civil war. We are so much better off without you, and many Americans hope and pray you will end up in prison, for your decades of misdeeds, crimes, fraud, cheating, and misbehavior. You are a very sad man, lacking any dignity, decency, or grace. His base has been dwindling since the election. Alot of conservative friends and family I have been speaking with, agree Biden won, and the fraud thing is a bit much, and a sure sign of a sore loser. And those same people say that it would be easier to continue supporting the man, if he just kept his mouth shut. I think the DC fiasco backfired for sure, and he lost alot of his "middle of the road, sensible, hard working, decent people" base. It was an enormous miscalculation, and an act of sheer desperation by an unhinged madman. Trump incited a riot. He has no limits of civility or temperance. And the more extremist people within his base take what he says as literally as some fundamentalists take the Bible. Add in deniers like Cruz and Hawley, (small minded men just jockeying for a powerful future position) and you have a near civil war. Fair to intervene? Or just sit back, and let it happen? I think what FB and Twitter did was glorious, wise, and upholds the republic. I never in a million years thought Dorsey or Zuck would have the cajones to do this. Good on them! Now, we have weaker men like Musk, who are trying to change the rules of the game.
  3. First the extremely toxic senate needs to be sent packing. They were appointed by the army, in a move that reeks of power mongering and corruption. So, without them removed, there is little chance of anything fair happening here. It is a very sad indictment of the nation, when a very inferior man like Prawit, who has no leadership ability, is chosen for anything other than janitorial work.
  4. Good work. One of the reasons I left Samui, is the astonishing lack of pride, of most of the locals. Sometimes Thai people can learn through shame. These gals are shaming the locals. That is a good thing. Someone has to do it. The mayor of Samui has been amassing a fortune for a long time now, and he could have assembled beach clean up crews for 60,000 baht per month. That is drop in the bucket. But, he is too cheap, and has no vision or pride. Neither do most of the leading families on Samui, it would appear. Samui is a gorgeous island, once you get away from the Ring Road. But, some of the beaches need maintenance.
  5. This so called father should be dealt with very, very harshly. If not by the law (which is very unlikely), by the daughter. Sometime, parents need to be educated, and sometimes it is not necessarily a pretty thing to witness. Some parents are truly clueless. And old fashioned is no excuse. It just means this fool is locked up in a box of conventionality, and mindlessness.
  6. Two male burglars on a motorbike were seen coming back and forth from the houses and taking many possessions away, said the victim’s relative and witness Ms. Montha Sukkong. This is some relative. Did she not think it was appropriate to tell anyone, or do anything? Really? Is that all she has got to offer?
  7. I really try to avoid most food products from China. Who knows what they do to them and how they are processed. The safety standards seem to be next to nil, and the ethical part of the equation does not exist. Not to mention the frequently low quality. Just say no to China. If possible.
  8. Elon Musk is the last person in the world I would take any kind of advice from. For someone so smart it is amazing how dumb he can be. I think he simply has no social skills and is likely pathological in nature. I kind of hope Twitter fails, as I consider it to be totally toxic for culture and society. And I hope he moves to his beloved Mars.
  9. A minority seem to know how to use a cashless system, but the number of times I am in a line that has ground to a halt over someone trying to get their payment app to work is voluminous. It is especially annoying when dealing with a 45 baht cup of coffee. Just man up and carry some cash! Giving people the option of going cashless is one thing. Demanding it is another. I love cash. Cash is king!
  10. Real life. I go back three times a year. The price increases are stunning. Don't believe the nonsensical data. It is very fake. Real life is more about truth.
  11. These figures mean less than zero to most of us. They don't take into account most of the products and services we use. Inflation here is likely 12%. In the US now, likely 25%, in real practical numbers, not fake govt. figures. Fortunately, anything labor related has not gone up much here. Also, rent has not gone up much. Big factors. Inflation here is alot less than back home.
  12. Some of us are hopeful he either tests the implant on himself, or finally moves to his beloved planet Mars. Just go already, Elon. You are so annoying.
  13. Health authorities say the hybrid has not shown signs of causing more severe symptoms but appears to be more readily transmitted. Remind anyone of the feeble variant Omicron? Each subsequent variant seems to be getting weaker and weaker, yet they keep issuing the warnings and keeping people scared. Shills for big pharma? After all, each one of the vaccine companies made an extra $10 billion a year in profit, for the past two years. It is likely they miss that kind of a gravy train. Time to let this thing go. This is not the zombie apocalypse.
  14. Bizarre, draconian over reach and sheer stupidity. The extent to which the courts here are uneven, in their application of the law, boggles the mind. Let the gun runners, and the cops involved in selling weapons run free, plying their trade, which you lock this guy up for some bullets. Dumb and dumber.
  15. In a latest move the Public Prosecutors' Commission said yesterday that they are discharging Chainarong Saengthong-aram from the service. Utterly shameful, that this so called prosecutor has not been arrested, disbarred, or somehow taken out of service before now. Remember those promises to root out corruption 8 long years ago? Hey Cha Cha, what ever happened with your promises to root out your bad apple immigration guys, on the border? They likely let in thousands, to line their greedy pockets. Do you care at all, on any level, about anything other than your own enrichment, and the vintage of ridiculously expensive champagne you will have this evening? What about corrupt cops, prosecutors, and customs guys? There is no saying the extent of the corruption in this administration, but the army is not exactly known for integrity. You must step down, or be removed. You are the most toxic force this nation has endured for a very long time. The youth is right. You must go. Out. Get out now!
  16. So what? A few kids getting high. I started smoking when I was 13. It was nothing. Let the netizens work themselves into a tizzy. That is on them.
  17. Great news. Good on these good folks for getting involved. There are alot of people in need here. Far worse since the highly selective covid shutdowns and the Prayuth decimation of tourism. Likely millions unemployed here.
  18. No doubt the top generals, and the other highly corrupt men in positions of leadership, are taking advantage to this and buying up villas, yachts, planes and helicopters around the world. I would guess that are surprised and pleased they have been able to hold onto power this long.
  19. It is impossible for these goons to predict the severity of the next recession, much less the length of it. This is sheer nonsense. It is likely to be sustained, rather than lasting a quarter or two. And the economy here is weak, and highly susceptible.
  20. Correct. I hear that madman assassins who work for rabid and toxic nations, with overseas assassination campaigns, tend to be alot calmer when they are allowed to drink and have sex.
  21. At this stage of covid, the only people dying seem to be people who were already very ill, or had serious immune system issues, or major illnesses. The subsequent variants are weaker and weaker. Masks do not help much. And neither do the boosters. The numbers remain low. This is not something to be alarmed about. At all.
  22. I guess it is now obvious, that it is impossible for this imbecile to learn anything. Most people, after losing a billion dollars or more, due to an inability to keep their highly ignorant mouths shut, would reform and learn. Not Kanye. I guess he is insane.
  23. I am aiming for $5 million in profit next year, with my business. Of course, that deos not mean it will happen. Dreams are just that. With the vast majority of visitors coming from India, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia, it is likely tourism revenue is way, way down. Sacrifices and improvements need to be made, if the goons want tourism to improve.
  24. The only way to survive here on the road, is to be patient, have eyes in the back of your head, drive with caution, and always, and I mean always watch out of the other guy. Chances are, he does not have much driving skill, nor patience, nor reason, nor common sense. You cannot be too careful on the road here. Especially considering that the toy police offer no traffic safety, prevention, enforcement of the law, or concern toward the prosecution of very reckless drivers. Those of us with driving skill, and a strong desire for not only survival, but the avoidance of terrible injury, are constantly scanning the road, in front of us, beside us, and behind us. There are an exceptionally high number of reckless fools on these roads, and it is the only way to preserve our lives, and those of our families, and friends, who may be driving with us, and depending on us. The same applies as a pedestrian. One cannot take anything for granted here. Stop, look both ways very carefully, then proceed very quickly across the street.
  25. Some of us love the rain. The clouds bring a welcome relief from the heat. I will take as much rain as the weather Gods are willing to give us. Just got back from California. Smoggy, bone dry and cold. No thanks. Prefer the weather here.
