People's Party Takes Lead Over Pheu Thai in Latest Nida Poll
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There is no doubt that this is likely a skewed poll, I think in a real poll The People's Party would get closer to 75%. Let us not forget their candidate was denied the office of P. M. through some morally bankrupt shenanigans. The people have not forgotten. We need to get rid of the dinosaurs, we need to get rid of those completely lacking in skill like the current P. M. We need to get rid of the retrograde imbeciles who care for nothing but money and are holding the nation back. We need to bring on the youth, they are the future of the nation and there's a lot of talent, intelligence and creativity in the Thai youth of today. -
I've had this issue many times in the past, the last time it was diagnosed by an ENT as allergic bronchitis which was totally out of left field, but she treated it and it went away. These days I use a variety of throat sprays, I find the chamomile spray widely available at the pharmacy here to be very good, and then I also use these Chinese tablets that you find in the pharmacy in the yellow package that seem to work very well. I think they're called Gumgig Pean. Other than that nasal rinses can be quite effective. It's just a matter of getting rid of the tickle that causes the dry cough.

Carter very well may have been the last noble man to ever occupy the office of the presidency in America. I truly believe that in the future nobody of nobility, nobody with virtue, nobody with honor will ever seek that office, as it's just simply become too toxic. Carter may not have been a great president but I believe he was a very good man, perhaps too good for the office. Rip big Jimmy.

What Books are you Reading (2024)
spidermike007 replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I've been getting into espionage, and spy novels and novels with a special forces / assassin type theme. Back in the day Tom Clancy was great, but his work is quite dated. Obviously Barry Eisler is the king of the genre as his characters and scenarios are so well fleshed out and vivid. Next in line is Vince Flynn, who was very good, but his predecessor Kyle Mills really lacks the skill to pull it off. Does anybody have any suggestions about authors in this category, not the typical John Sanford's, Lee Child's, Alan First, Mick Herron. Somebody closer to Tom Wood (with Victor the Assassin) I think he's a talented enough writer. It appears to me that anybody with the talent of a Barry Eisler could make a fortune in this genre, as there are so many authors that are doing well, who are writing in a vacuous manner about characters that are just not that interesting, and don't have they much skill as writers. -
What Books are you Reading (2024)

I would very much like to have a greater understanding of King Vlad the madman, but every time I read something in depth it is so dire, so depressing and so real that it is difficult for me to continue. I applaud you for your effort and maybe one day I'll get around to it, but for now I am trying to keep my head in the sand to stay sane, as there is so much Insanity in the world right now. -
Biden would have been a poor choice, but with regard to Trump, many people, once they got attached to a theory, it was hard to get them detached. They’d screen out unhelpful facts, invent favorable ones, and ignore contradictions in their own claims. Look at those Sandy Hook, multiple fraud convictions, and Jan. 6th truthers, babbling about false flags and crisis actors and all the rest. When people were motivated enough to believe something, they were going to believe it no matter what. There was no such thing as a bridge too far. Trump may have won, but he is still an unappealing, unattractive, idiotic, incompetent, hateful, hurtful, abrasive, rude blowhard, a liar, cheater, thief, infantile, failure, loser, fraud, sexual abuser, incestuous, tax cheat, insurrectionist, un-American, dictator-loving dictator wannabe, out of control, sociopathic, convicted felon, toxic narcissist & brutish A-hole.

As a Democrat I will freely admit that Biden is completely disillusioned if he thinks that he had a good chance to win. Granted picking Harris at such a late date was probably not good strategy, and she was a poor candidate, and unqualified, but Biden was failing and he's just way too old for the job. What he should admit is that he should have stepped aside after the first term and allowed the Dems to pick a highly qualified candidate who would have had a chance of beating Trump. The secondary aspect of this is that the Democratic party is very broken, they have leaned way too far to the left, they've aligned themselves with the progressives and the extreme left, and the ridiculous woke movement, and that turned off millions of centrist voters. I don't like Trump, nor do I have a nanogram of respect for the man, but I understand why people voted for him.

Thailand can be a very noisy place and there's absolutely nothing that you can do about it, except to change your location. If you find where you are to be too noisy, if I were in your position I would change my room, perhaps get a room facing away from the beach or even shift hotels. That is totally within your power. Or you could do nothing and just continue to complain and grin and bear it.

There are many different forms of meditation, and many different groups that promote meditation, and I believe that in general meditation is highly beneficial if you have a good technique, and if you're able to focus sufficiently, the benefits can be tremendous. Do it, life is short, any sort of self-improvement is it good thing and a positive form of action.

It's truly dreadful every time we read about somebody losing their life on the road here, one wonders had he been wearing a higher quality helmet with a secure buckle if that would have helped. One also wonders what his level of inebration was to have crashed apparently on his own, without another vehicle involved.

Do you think Air Travel is safe these days?
spidermike007 replied to BarBoy's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Extremely safe, we hear about every crash that takes place everywhere in the world, and yet there are tens of thousands of flights every day involving millions of passengers. So it is likely the safest way to travel. It is truly the luck of the draw, if it's your day there is no avoidance of the Grim Reaper. -
93 Dead, 575 Injured in Two Days of New Year Road Crashes

If they could figure out how to get the lazy, listless, indifferent and spectacularly incompetent Highway Patrol to actually patrol the highways, assuring that people are not driving recklessly, pulling over and give large fines to people who are making reckless and foolish moves on the highway, this could dramatically reduce fatalities. But since the highway patrol utterly refuses to do their job there is absolutely no deterrent here, and alot of people drive like absolute fools. -
There is no question that Pattaya has become the most crime riddled area in all of Thailand. That is quite a distinction, it seems to attract a very low element, a violent element and people who are prone to these sorts of nonsensical outbursts. It's never a particularly good idea to intervene when people are having an argument, okay if you see a woman being violently assaulted that's one thing, but arguing is quite another. The last aspect of this is that some people just cannot hold their alcohol well, and simply should not be drinking and when they are drinking people should really stay clear of them. This guy's life is over, hopefully his fellow prisoners will give him a warm welcome.

30s is too soon. Dying in your 30's is tragic. As is the 40s Sympathy dissapates from there. 50s is such a shame 60s is too soon 70s a good run 80s a life well lived 90s - a fricking hell of a ride I am counting the remainder of my life in months, not years It creates more of a sense of urgency and prevents sloth and a lack of perspective. 180 months? 240 months? Hopefully.

Countless studies. Red meat: Beef and pork are high in saturated fat. Highly processed meats, in general, should also be limited, as they are high in both sodium and saturated fat. https://www.healthline.com/health/fatty-liver-diet#limit-or-avoid Barbecue is a very delicious dish and is loved by many people. However, this is a liver-damaging food, and the nutritional quality of this food is not high. In the process of cooking grilled meat, through directing water on the fire, the meat is very susceptible to changes in ingredients, producing substances that are not good for the liver, even the risk of cancer. In addition, meat often contains a lot of fat plus spices, additives and a large amount of salt, which increases the metabolic burden on the liver and kidneys. Although this is a delicious dish, it can cause many harms to the body if you eat a lot. Red meat contains a lot of protein, which is an essential food in the diet to help the overall development of the body. However, there are many studies that show that reducing the amount of red meat in the diet helps to make the liver healthier. Therefore, to have a healthy liver, you should limit your intake of red meat, especially when you have been diagnosed with liver diseases. https://www.vinmec.com/eng/article/liver-damaging-foods-and-foods-en

Laughably uninformed nonsense. Meat actually degrades the liver.

There are many aspects of the covid narrative that were either downright false or misleading. In my opinion it always had to do with your own personal immunity, the strength of your body, the quality of your diet, and so many different lifestyle issues, and none of them were ever discussed. Obesity was never discussed, discission of diet was discouraged, and the entire narrative was skewed. The agendas of the WHO, the CDC, the FDA, and Big Pharma ALWAYS need to be questioned. Healthy discourse always needs to be encouraged, and yet it was completely shut down during the pandemic.

Sounds like a very happy handed and incredibly creepy head man. I would ignore it with all the power of your being, do not comply. This is bordering on fascism.
-
Nothing much. This is a man who has made a career out of talking nonsense, he is semi insane and his brain just simply rambles in multiple directions. He has very few filters so when he thinks it, he says it, and it appears to make him an imbecile, a creep, and an idiot, all of which he is. In addition to being highly unstable mentally.

Right now a guy from India graduates at the top of his class from MIT as a nuclear physicist, and then he can't get a visa to work for an American company and benefit the American economy, because of the antiquated quota system If you're going to discuss immigration do some homework on legal immigration. There's way too much ignorance out there when it comes to the immigration debate. Be the solution. Don't be the problem.
-
As well they should, the quota system is hugely outdated, and it should be expanded to accommodate any and every foreigner who's highly qualified for a top end position in engineering, physics, M top management, medicine, the sciences, etc. The US needs more talent, not less It needs more brain surgeons and less landscapers and dishwashers. These details seem to get lost in the rhetorical morass that is currently the rage in the US, it's not about immigrants, it's about the quality of immigrants. Immigrants built America, period.

Who wants to Deny that Joe Biden was a Corrupt Liar?
spidermike007 replied to Yagoda's topic in Political Soapbox
If you're going to talk about Joe Biden being a corrupt liar then you simply have to be courageous enough to be willing to talk about Trump being a corrupt liar. Fair is fair right? As far as I'm concerned anyone who's willing to serve in a national office like that is a corrupt liar. There is no righteousness, there is no saintliness, these guys are all filthy 14 ft. alligators.
