What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)
recom273 replied to CharlieH's topic in Entertainment
Currently watching New Bandits a Brazilian show on Amazon prime, not bad. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27208330/ ? Better than the wire? I don’t think so. @Mutt Daeng Did you know there are subs available for all the seasons of mocro mafia? - you need to be a bit easy going, sometimes things get a bit messy when the guys are talking Turkish / Arabic and the hard subs are in Dutch, but the latest season is pretty good -
I have a similar experience as the other poster above, not in Mahidol. The guys in the 1st year work in X-Ray, then the general clinic in the 2nd and 3rd years (I first attended the general clinic and I the service was excellent, they identified my issues immediately, sent me for x-rays and passed my case up the line) I attend the Periodontal clinic and its students that have already graduated and their younger assistants. I have been assessed by a professor in the first and was given a choice by her, join the waiting list (I waited 6 months to be assessed and the treatment queue was another year or accept a student under her supervision) - I am really happy with the service and the charges, which are amazingly transparent. This is in KKU.

Have you visited Prince Of Songkhla Uni Dental Surgery? I know some guys who went there but it was a little difficult to negotiate, like it's only evenings or something, the hospital reception didn't know too much about the procedure and I gave up. You will find a lot of the local specialists teach there during the day. Now, im in Khon Kaen, I go to KKU Dental Hospital, and it's awesome. I really regret not pursuing things in Hat Yai.

This to be moved to the southern forum because there are some active posters there. Yes, although I moved from there 2 years past, I have lived in HY for 10 years and travelled over the past 20. Yala The town isn't a a great place to visit, but if you have your own transport, the trip to Betong is great! There is enough for a long weekend, lots of Malaysians, all the fun of a border town and home to the biggest postbox in Thailand. Well worth a visit, communist insurgent tunnels, the best riding road in the south and very natural. Maybe one of the most isolated communities in Thailand, very unusual. There's also a couple of sea of mist / skybridge / viewpoint places down by the reservoir. Narathiwat I stayed there about 20 years back, was an interesting overnight in a wooden hotel over the water in the harbor. Upstairs were clean and basic guest rooms and downstairs was a brothel - the rather rotund middle aged ladies were great to talk to in the afternoon as they sat outside their rooms and then in the evening there were queues of Malaysian fishermen outside every door. Good seafood at night The only real attraction I saw was Ao Manao, I think. I returned a few years ago to get some petrol, lots of army and checkpoints, quite a developed town now and from what I could see, maybe not that muslim, but I could be wrong. Pattani Never really been there, sorry. I just stopped at some minor towns for breakfast and to fill up with petrol. Friendly enough people, but seems very strict, no 7-11 sells pork or alcohol. I gather you can enjoy some nice seafood by the coast, the beaches aren't much to look at, but I dont know much. If you want to cross off some provinces, I think you will be safe enough. The trouble seems to occur in outlying villages, when police / army are the target. You might want to take a look over the border into Perak, I think its a great area to explore and then re enter Thailand via Dannock

I like to see them work, just like buffalo ploughing - it’s a traditional way of harvesting or cultivation. I am amazed when they sit still on the back of battered pickups. However, apparently they beat the living crap out of them when they are young to get them to fall in to line. This organisation fails to consider that if monkeys didn’t collect the coconuts then a 12 year old Burmese kid would probably be sent up there 7 days a week, without a safety harness, probably for about 300B a day if he was lucky - would consumers pay the increased price of human exploitation?

First Thai relationship, any advice?
recom273 replied to ozthai23's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
When I first came to Thailand, I bumped into a girl from my hometown, she had married a Thai guy and he was a dive instructor. She told me, don't get involved with Thai girls, they are a waste of money. After nigh on twenty years of marriage, I conclude, her advice was good. -
I tend to think the opposite, if you can get it for free, then there is a catch. This is even more true when it comes to free VPNs. It's reported that most free VPN services are linked to Chinese companies, why would that be?

Latest date for ex-PM Thaksin’s return is August 22
recom273 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A few months ago, the choice was either this clown or those clowns, i never imagined people could get behind MF party with such strength and numbers. I didn’t believe that PT could just turn their back on such a response, and it is now perfectly clear the whole charade was to maneuver the party into a position where the sole purpose is to negotiate a return for Tony T. After listening to local folks, you could be mistaken into thinking that PT is a party for the people, it’s not. I still think, economically he is way better than the current comedians, but I think with all this messing around, and the new obvious agenda, that the door will be left open for Anutin or Prawit to walk straight in and it’s all back to square one. -

There was a time when I thought he would be good for this country and welcomed his return, now I wish he would just disappear for good.- 104 replies

You put the router into bridge mode, then you won't be able to communicate with the outside world, because your MacBook won't hold your PPoE credentials. This is normal. Then you enter your credentials and VLAN in your unifi controller software that is built into a UDM.

Drop me a DM .. I also use Unifi products .. I can send you some screenshots of my config. And VLAN 33 is correct, if you are on VLAN 33

Chinese Rolls-Royce Owner Demands Compensation from Pickup Truck Driver

I don’t think these luxury cars get 100% insurance or if so. the premium is so high, that it doesn’t make economic sense to insure them at full insurance, because no one will ever crash into them, right? -
Thai wife wants to buy land
recom273 replied to jayceenik's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Thanks, I thought it was on the property. My bad. I dont have one, never really thought I would need one. But why is the poster receiving advice or mentions of a usufruct on land his wife wants to buy as an investment? The post still stands, the OP doesnt want peoples opinions, he wants info. -
Thai wife wants to buy land
recom273 replied to jayceenik's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
The guy has a house and land already, you don't have a usufruct on a piece of land, it's on the property. His wife wants a bit of cash to buy some land, and wants to know about the piece of paper he's being asked to sign, he doesn't want your opinion. We all sign it, just sign it and forget it. If I had the spare cash I would gladly give it to the missus to buy some land. The land we bought on which we are building our land has appreciated, when she has acted as an agent and found a buyer for someone else's land she has made decent money. -
There was a shop that was selling second hand home entertainment kit in Hat Yai, I found it a little over priced the few items that obviously came from Japan. Has anyone been here? I was partially watching, but I never heard any prices other than the small TV tuner, again, over priced.

Deputy House speaker in hot water over a cold beer
recom273 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Where have you see an advert for beer in Thailand? This is why Singha (and Chang?) produce water, it’s why they sponsor football teams, it’s why you get dolly girls with shirt dresses pouring beer - they don’t promote beer, they promote the brand. I already saw a Singaporean TV news broadcast of some MF MP who has a craft beer pub, opening admitting he was an MP because he wants the brewing laws changed as he has a vested interest. Yes, this country is full of hypocrisy when it comes to alcohol laws. The MP should have thought a couple of seconds before he posted the selfie.
