I had the one of the most unappealing restaurant experiences last night. Not that the food was bad, it was OK .. just they were using a POS system called "Foodstory" https://foodstorysite.webflow.io/en As we. walked in were directed in the general direction of a table, and were handed menus and a QR code and told to order ourselves through a website on our mobile phone. the restaurant was Italian, and basically whatever pasta dish you selected, you then chose the sauce and then the meat / seafood. Which I guess that's what pasta dishes are, but still. We had no explanation on how to order, it wasn't hard to work out, but we did have a time where we were unsure if we had placed the order, and just waited. The servers just stood at the back of the restaurant (which I guess most do) - there was even a bell on the web app to attract their attention. You selected everything on your phone, everything arrived within 3 mins, all at the same time, starter, drinks, main and salad. There was no interaction with the staff. I can assume, even tho the food was ok, and there were a maybe another 3-4 tables occupied, because of the time involved, that it took little skill to prepare, some of my pasta was cold. My wife could have knocked up the dishes at home. When it was time to pay the bill, we confirmed the food we ate with the app, whilst we were wondering if we had done the right thing, within seconds the service brought the bill along with a scannable QR code. We paid and left. I doubt we were in the restaurant for more than 30 mins. On the way out, I looked at the servers, and said thank you, none replied - I have had better response from a food delivery rider. I'm all for automation and cashless sytems, in fact I love home automation, but last night was just one step too far. The service could have used the system better by adding a bit of a personal touch, but its a bit of a depression thought if this is the future. Anyone else?

Yep, I would say that meets international standards, all we need to do is bring the driving standards up to international spec, then that leaves the RTP. Depending upon the speed limits, why wasn't there a concrete island planted in the middle of the lines? With due respect, they also need to encourage pedestrians to observe international standards too, there are a few zebras around the local hospital, and even when I am the only one in the road at that time, I stop and the pedestrians will not cross, all you get is this underhand wave and this standoff where I refuse to move, they refuse to cross and in the end I give in and drive over the zebra. Can't say I blame them, but still.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2022)

Me too mate, I watched the first part last night and would have happily watched part 2 this morning. The US version of 24 hours in police custody returns in the next couple of weeks, but that didn’t really do much for me. -

I dont think Pt.2 airs until this time tomorrow, I could be wrong. https://www.tvguide.co.uk/detail/4715315/71047346/24-hours-in-police-custody -
I buy my pies and sausages from http://burirampieman.com The sausages are lovely, just like supermarket ones back home - they come from prime foods in Pattaya. The pies he makes himself. You can place and order, he puts them on the bus in the morning and pick up from KK bus station at 2.00 PM, everything is still frozen in a polystyrene box. Bacon - make it yourself - just buy a couple of kilo of middle from Makro and follow the instructions - I can't believe I put up with strips of pork fat from Makro for so many years. Its so cheap, even if you buy a slicer, as I have. I have never smoked any, doesnt seem to be necessary. Other places I tried for delivery were Farm2fork in Mukdahan which were good - the bacon smoke was a little too strong, the sausages rather rustic - but no complaints, all good gear and Sausage King in Chiang Mai, again, OK, I think Prime foods were more to my liking, but they have some good varieties like Italian which are good on pizza and chorizo which is nice on freshly baked baguette.

Now the rules have changed, probably people too stoned to go to get munchies.

I had that too (this is just the 60 day extension, not the full year) - my wife was a nursery nurse, I gave her a bit of notice and we synchronized the time that the papers were submitted at the immigration office. After everything was complete, they even took a photo of us together, my wife asked the IO, “any chance I can go back to work?” Yup, no problem. No problem, until, another IO came back to return my passport, “where is your wife? Where’s your wife? Oh my, where is she?” And he was holding my passport at arms length behind him. “Where do you think she is? At work” - Bunch of c nuts.

There were some honest viewer opinions on the site I got it from - that's why I mentioned it. The wife always likes to watch a movie on a Sunday night and I really struggle to find anything decent and new these days - In recent months we watched X, Hustle and a fair few more that were so memorable, that I can't even remember one. This one has caught my attention, a few comments that it should have stayed at one series. The Bronze Garden, HBO Latin America. -
I buy honey from this guy https://www.suphabeefarm.com Not too sure if its real, but we like it. It seems strange for the seller to go through all the trouble of having a great website, offering people the opportunity to visit his farm with 1500 hives on and then selling imported Chinese sugar water. I will do the tests mentioned in a previous post one day.

This one may be worth a punt for Sci-Fi fans - Its got a 7.5 on IMDB but with not enough votes - the comments I saw were encouraging, even this one "A great story with a not so great execution, but it's still a good sci fi movie especially because there aren't many and even less that are really good". -
I have found it efficient as you mentioned, but the last time I waited an extra day or two. I just put it down to a Monday rush and later on Tuesday, maybe Wednesday morning I got the approval. If I didn’t, then I would have needed to do it in person on Friday. Just relax, I’m sure it will arrive.

This is really frustrating. I was going to move to AIS until I found out I couldn't contact ISP support. Sorry, its not much help to you, but 3BB do have a proper support who will check routes and connectivity on their end and can use anydesk to view any issue from your end. The one guy speakes English really well, when I have had issues in the past, he's offered solutions to issues that weren't necessarily 3BBs fault. I dont have his personal number, but you can always get a callback within a working day. So this kind of support does exist in Thailand, just difficult with AIS.

Lol .. taboo has been mentioned a few times, it’s like marmite, you either love it, or hate it. It’s highly regarded, but everytime I go to watch it, I fall asleep. Other posters have also mentioned the same. I will never give up on it, i have it to watch, but it’s always this issue of falling asleep. -
To answer your question. If you get bumped in a carpark, the cam will come on and hopefully capture the offender. The OP should think very carefully, a cheap dashcam is as good as no dashcam. Xiaomi do some decent 4K cameras, that just plug into the lighter socket, but you can hard wire if needed. We got ours with the car, a Toyota branded 1080P, it was fitted for free as yours, it’s worth about 2500B but it’s not great, it doesn’t capture a number plate moving fast. It will be ok to protect my ass but won’t catch a hit and run. 2500B for fitting a camera (front and back) properly is way too much, it’s usually about 500B, you can buy a xiaomi one fitted, all-in for 2500B.

Ragdoll series 2 has appeared - it’s a crime (serial killer) thriller on AMC+ filmed in the UK. The first series was interesting, a weekly episode, but the whole new season appeared in one hit last night. -

Just watching The Outlaws - I think it’s still as good as the first, still plenty of Marchent’s dry humour. Did anyone see that there is a Korean Money Heist ? -
I went to a Uni dental hospital (not CMU) last week and had 2 from ones pulled. A most excellent experience, one Wednesday went for impression, 2400B - that's for the impression and to make to teeth. Returned the next Wednesday, the guy who pulls teeth walked in, just a kid, perfect English, explained the procedure "this is going to hurt in 1,2,3 and" inject, yeah that was painful, waited 5 mins, covered my face with the cloth - pop, two teeth out, I didn't feel a thing, I couldn't move my mouth for 2 hours, it was awesome - OD on novacain - the false ones were fitted another 1400B. No problems for a week, didnt even need paracetamol to kill any pain. bedside manner ?? Once he gave me the two shots and covered my face, it may have been a leggy Swedish blonde with huge breasts or my mother in law that pulled the teeth, I had no reason to care. A big thumbs up for the university dental hospital experience.

Motorbike 'commute' Bangkok to Hua Hin?
recom273 replied to marvw's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Have you done it before? Having done the trip from Hat Yai to Laos with my 650 a handful of times, I found that part of the trip to be the most tedious, too much slow traffic and bad road. I could easily motor from Hat Yai to HH in a day, but really felt it was hard to make ground on the stretch from HH to Mahachai. -

Sunday night movie was Hustle with Adam Sandler, it was OK, totally predictable, a little like Rocky with basketball. Worth a watch if you are with the wife or kids. -
Are jeans and chinos adapted to Thailand ?
recom273 replied to Baron Samedi's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yes, me too. Must be a British thing. Of course, I spend most of the time in shorts but if I need to go into town, then I wear pants, I don't fry, my nuts don't explode. -
A TV that can act as a computer or media player.
recom273 replied to JeffersLos's topic in Audio Visual AV
So you have a rental property 20km away .. you have a load of movies on a HDD and you want them playable by the TV in the rental? Maybe its like a holiday rental for westerners and you want to offer them something extra? I think it's not going to be possible to find a TV with a built in HDD. However, you can just buy a regular TV, and set up your own streaming service from your home. You need to use your computer as a server, you need to install the software on your machine, this is called Plex, Emby or Jellyfin. There is already the software available in your TV apps store, (no need for an android box at the property) the files can also access it via chrome as you mentioned. You can run the server on a cheap low power computer or from your home computer, it cant be switched off tho' - if you need to update the content, no need to visit the rental, just change it on your end. You can give them a BT mouse and keyboard, but for the most part it's not needed, they can use the TV remote control. Its quite simple for the tenant, the GUI will be something like Netflix or Disney+ - just select and play. If this is of interest, I can explain a little more.
