People's views on Samui differ depending on their lifestyle. Many people trash Samui as all that they see is Chaweng and Lamai - which are the main tourist towns. My D-I-L and grandchildren are here for their fifth Songkran over the last 12 years. They think that Samui is great. They love it. Quiet beaches and beautiful scenery. Stunning views from many restaurants. Good food and lovely local folk. They never go to Chaweng, Lamai or Fisherman's Village.

Originally, the company paid the SS but then, some years later, as a director, I had to set up a recurring transfer in my private bank account to pay the SS. Company can no longer do it. We have a couple of small Thai rental units that we use for storage and a 'rest place' for staff when they are tired or lunch and their home is further away. They were on government water until recently. Now none. Nothing in the press though.

Well done. Here on Samui I cannot find any a/c company that will give me scheduled maintenance on the units in the villas. When I ask, 'what's wrong with it' is the reply. We try and keep a schedule of when they were last serviced so that we can book the next one but then the a/c folk are 'too busy' when we call them. In reality, they want to install new ones in new builds, of which there are a lot on the island.

So hypocritical of this government and they will do anything to help their military friends to stay in power illegally.

I was always told that they flee the scene until the families of the two parties can come to a financial agreement. This is seen as preferable to taking it to court. (Lawyers costs etc.)

Guest went to go to the airport a short while back. He called GRAB. Plai Laem to airport - 5,315 baht. (That is not a typo.) All of the taxis and vans were at the ferry terminal picking up guests from a cruise ship for island tours etc. 40 minute wait for our normal taxi service (depending on traffic). Other guests have missed flights because of cancelled GRAB bookings.

At Samui airport, if pilots cannot see the end of the runway from a certain distance out (2 K's?) then they have to 'go round' a few times until they can or they re-route. This is usually during very heavy rain storms or low cloud.

Muslims say that they are 'believers'. Unfortunately, people only believe what they want to believe. Even with the evidence widely available all over the internet, many choose not to believe it. They prefer to believe the lies from the mouths of killers.

Probably difficult with COPD. I too have COPD and I struggle with any training other than walking on the flat. Forget hills and stairs. Luckily, I can still lift a beer or three.

I have also noticed a lot more smaller, independent water trucks. Even our local car hire guy has bought one to sell water. We are currently paying 700 baht per truck. Supposed to be 6 cubic meters. In reality, 5+ cubic meters. A four bedroom villa, plus pool, plus garden is taking up to 8 trucks per month at this time of year.
