Thai Hostages Still Missing a Year After Hamas Attack
They are there of their own free will. They weren't kidnapped and imprisoned there. They do not want to be 'pulled out'.

Got a pigeon problem? Time to break out the LASER!!!
Presumably they work on mynah birds as well? Those little 'darlings' walk into my house when I am not at my desk. Looking for crumbs and krappping everywhere.

Proof of Life
Definitely not convenient. I live on Koh Samui. 5,000 baht airfare return plus trains and a whole day taken up. Mind you, I have no idea where the British Embassy is any more. As an aside - I have never been asked for PoL. Maybe because my pension is paid into a UK bank? or because I am too young (73)?

Except that I do not use any of those things. I do not even have wifi set up on my phone. It is a phone.

Driver's License Guide - Koh Samui
I renewed my DL yesterday. Pretty much the same as Can samui and Phetphet except that I had to provide 8 pages of documents. Copy of expired DL (both sides) and the original of course. Medical certificate (Bandon hospital 250 baht - I was the only 'civilian' - no waiting.) Passport - face page Passport - valid visa page Passport - stamp of last entry to Thailand page (wow, 2019 complete with TM 6) Work permit - face page Work permit - address page Work permit - stamp of latest update Quite a few folk renewing their licences so I was there for an hour.

Thai Hostages Still Missing a Year After Hamas Attack
I hope that the hostages are still alive and released soon. Hamas is only one of the evil terrorist organisations plaguing the earth. I hope that Israel eradicates them completely. It is not Israel's fault that innocent people are being killed. It is 100% down to Hamas and the 'not so innocent' Palestinians that support them.

Not for me.

Forum turned upside down?
If it is a new layout then it defies logic. This is an English speaking forum and English speakers read left to right. On most pages, the left hand side will be blank as you move further down. Useless layout.

How do you feel about this?
There are self checkouts at TOPS on Koh Samui (Central Festival) and I suspect other TOPS main stores as well.

Urgent Request for Information re Death of British Citizen in Thailand
The British embassy get a lot of stick (often rightly so) for not being helpful in some cases, but in the case of the death of a British citizen, I too was amazed as to how quick, professional and sympathetic the embassy were. Did you ask them for a list of English speaking lawyers?

Ministry to Rehabilitate 20,000 Teen E-Cigarette Users in New Plan
As I understand things, e-cigarettes are illegal. So stop the problem at the source. At the same time, arrest the MP's and workers at Parliament House that smoke the bloomin things.

Confusing - lacking a bit of detail. And why is his T shirt fuzzed out?

Where to buy USD
Thanks for that. I went to Bank of Ayudhaya at Central Festival today. Apart from the usual long wait (7 staff and only me in the queue!) I managed to get the USD there and then. Not a great rate (buying at 33.8) but probably better than the airport.

Police Investigate Shocking Murder-Suicide of Family in Songkhla
A very drastic step to take if it was about debt. OK, I understand why you may want to kill yourself, but to take out innocent family members? RIP

Urgent Request for Information re Death of British Citizen in Thailand
I live on Koh Samui. This lawyer cannot help. You need a local one. The embassy can provide details of suggested lawyers. I did it all by email. You do not need to go to the embassy unless you want to. As I said, they were very helpful and quick. My problem was the hospital on a money grab, They hung on to the the body as long as possible. I had to call in a couple of 'influential' people to get them to release the body. This is on Samui. Where your friend died may b more foreigner friendly. Good luck. Stressful times

Urgent Request for Information re Death of British Citizen in Thailand
My wife died suddenly, without a will. She was British. The law in Thailand is simple - my wife's direct family and I all share any assets. I do cannot remember if it is equal shares or 50% to her family and 50% to me. I had her mother and all siblings write letters to the court saying that they wanted nothing from my wife's estate. They were on call in case the judge wanted to video call them. That would have been interesting as only two of them had smart phones and/or a computer. Six months later and 35,000 baht bill and I was given judgement for all of my wife's assets. (Everything was in her name - she was ten years younger than me and I was supposed to die first.) The case was uncontested. Pick a lawyer in the area where you man died. I would be concerned if his 'friend' had the pin number, phone and ATM cards. Get a copy of the death certificate as soon as possible and contact the British embassy. They were brilliant in the case of my wife's death. They will advise you. The daughter may need to be involved. If said 'friend' has access to the bank - tell the bank about the death and to freeze the accounts. Otherwise do not bother. Get the cards etc and transfer the money out. That is what I did with my wife's account. I had access to her on-line banking and phone. Good luck. The process is slow but straight forward with a good lawyer.

Honda ADV 160 (2025) – Stiff Suspension: Should I Upgrade?
I do not have an ADV but whenever I put my PCX in for a service, it is quite 'bouncy' afterwards. The guys there definitely over-inflate the tyres. After a while, it settles down.... .........until the next service of course. The bike is two up more often than solo. The passenger feels it more than I do.
