  1. Perhaps Luxembourg was the wrong choice. My point being, the present education system is centred around Thailand with the rest of the world almost completely blocked out. Questions are discouraged as it may show up the teacher as not knowing, thus losing face. Try showing a Thai worker a better way to do a job and you get, 'Oh! Yes, I see.' Then as soon as you turn your back they return to doing it their way, because that's the way they were shown by a fellow Thai. Just one instance, I asked the electrician to install the light switches the opposite way up to their normal. The answer I got left me speechless. "Cannot, I have to twist wires, cannot." The mentality of a child doing a supposed tradesman's job.
  2. But ask any one of these students to point out Luxembourg on a map and it would result in getting splinters in their fingers from scratching their heads.
  3. Could you please give a demonstration.
  4. 'Tones are what the Thai language has.' Every language has tones, even English!
  5. A definite case of, 'Should I rush the rush job you want rushing, or rush the rush job I was rushing when you rushed in'?
  6. It appears anger management is required?
  7. That is your personal experience. You are also assuming the commenter you refer to is also American? Could it not be possible the SS referred to is not from the US?
  8. I heard!? Its a good idea to verify the info before putting thing in writing. The grape vine is always growing.
  9. Yes, Hypochlorite is a bleach, but is comes in different strengths. For full strength it has to be 14 grains per gallon (UK) Also bleach is NOT a stain remover, it is an optical whitener.
  10. I do believe the Indian guy has the quote the wrong way round? Surely it should be 'No Honey, No Money'?
  11. Whoever you are, trying to bate me is a complete waste of your time. I asked the question so as to get an answer, which I got, no thanks to you. It may surprise you, but education is built on asking questions, so I have to assume you were 'educated in Thailand', where questions are frowned upon.
  12. Well done the protesters. If more would strongly protest over the short comings of those in charge, maybe, just maybe things would change!?
  13. Advanced Member 14.8k Gender:Male Posted 6 hours ago 22 hours ago, Surasak said: Why should Pattaya be singled out? Because the thread is on the Pattaya forum and is about one particular hazard there that has injured 10 tourists. Posters have subsequently decided to share their experiences about all sorts of things, in many other places, which makes your complaint even more puzzling. I do believe you should go back and very carefully re-read my original post. I did not include 'Its the same all over the country'. AND, you were the one to add the word "Complaint", in your reply. Old Croc appears to be a very apt self description, wouldn't you say?
  14. One simple question. Is my whole income in the UK to be assessed for Thai tax, or only the amount I remit to my Thai bank?
  15. It was a simple request, where is the complaint. Please point out the complaint in my question, or have you found a big wooden spoon?
  16. Not so sure about that, I have drunk a fair few pints in my time and I'm still here to tell the tail.
  17. I think the word you may be looking for is 'Hypocrisy'?
  18. Why should Pattaya be singled out? Its the same all over the country. I have been lucky up to now, but that maybe because I don't do a lot of walking on city streets? One thing missing on this thread are stairs, there is no set standard for height or depth of the tread nor the angle of incline, and as for a hand rail on both sides of the stairwell?
  19. It'll get you one when you ain't looking. Its sods law!
  20. Genuine Thai attitude. So it makes a lot of noise, it still works. 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'!
  21. Shooting one's self in the foot is a favourite pass time in Thailand. They are fast approaching, if not past, shooting themselves in both feet at the same time.
  22. When Thai's start to think beyond their last action, maybe, just maybe we can make plans?
  23. I visit Immigration on the required dates for extensions and 90 day reports. I hand over the required papers each time. If a TM 30 was required on these occasions, is not up to the IO to make it known to me that a TM30 is required? Also, the papers for ones reason for reporting are checked by an IO on entry to ensure all is correct. I also know this person makes it known to the world if anything is not correct. So, as you seem to be all knowing, you tell me which law I am breaking. Otherwise......
  24. Nothing like a half empty glass! I can imagine you being a bundle of laughs at your local?
