PM Srettha wakes up to threat of cheap Chinese goods dumped on Thailand
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Instead it became an Internally Colonised State. The policy was obviously not named as such, but it became fully developed and heavily promoted after WW2 with a name that will be very familiar to at least some AN members. This entry features/describes Thailand as one of the examples of Internal Colonisation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_colonialism -
If you were a non-Jewish German in 1938 life could not have been better.......and you knew who to thank. But In 1939 your world changed irrevocably and tragically. Same guy in charge both years (and several preceding them) who frequently took the opportunity to "stand up and do a mass rally with thousands of fans, talk for more than an hour at a time, and walk without looking like a Roomba" ......that was pretty much his trademark. You left from your list of his "qualities" the facts that Trump is a bullying, narcissistic, megalomaniac, uncontrollable, psycho. How can anybody with an ounce of sentience even begin to contemplate letting him, now stoked up with bitterness and a craving for revenge, get anywhere near holding power?

Not transport owned and driven by you. Had it happened to you, or anyone else of the AN "community", it would have been a very different "story". Thai netizen "outrage" would have been very much in evidence.

Phuket officials ban sun lounges and alcohol from Freedom Beach
Enoon replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
The article says sale of alcohol is not allowed. The article says renting of sun loungers is not allowed. Nothing to stop you taking your alcohol and a chair there with you. Then you may drink the alcohol and sit upon your chair. -
No it hasn't gone mad. It's just gone past and ahead of you while you stood, or tried to stand, still. That's what happens when you get old.......it's the way of the world.

You are concerned about defiance/abuse of vehicle and road use laws in Thailand? See previous post definition: "half a slow moving motorcycle" When Thai society agitates forcefully, with success, to get motorcyclists trained properly and punished for abuse of traffic laws, abysmal roadcraft AND for riding on the pavement/sidewalk, I will join with it (and you) in demanding that "foreigners" should also suffer the full force of Thai road law.
-
If one assumes that they are no less, or no more, competent at controlling their vehicle than the average Thai motorcyclist is (many slow moving ones to be found badly positioned or in the wrong/offside lane or making sudden, unsignalled moves across lanes) then, as with the motorcyclists, the greatest danger is to themselves. In reality all they are is half a slow moving motorcycle, in the wrong place, being ridden by "just another idiot". That being the case, re "These morons are going to get killed." ......... "Som nam na".

The "Exodus" of European Farangs, The Trap.
Enoon replied to swissie's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Heeeeeeres Swissie everybody! Time for another Biiiiiiiiiig helping of his mirthlicious misery! Cue intro music and applause, followed by deafening laughter as "Swissie", lifting his face to the camera, utters his hilarious catchprase: "My life is **** and yours should be too" -
Some trace of Neanderthal ancestry is possible. However the remains analysed are "only" 2,300 years old at the most. "Pure" Neanderthal was well out of the way by then.....Homo Sapiens arrived in Asia much earlier than that. The remains are from a group that migrated "locally" (from China) after Sapiens had become well established in the East. They are evidence of particular Culture rather than a separate Genus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_human_migrations#/media/File:Homo_sapiens_dispersal_routes.jpg

MF were perfectly aware of where this was likely to go. It knew full well the likely pathway to the objective and have always been prepared to move to the next level. This from Parit Wacharasindhu last week: “If parliament cannot be an effective arena for settling differences of opinion and finding consensus among parties and people of different ideologies, then of course, people will have little choice but to go to extra-parliamentary means to voice their opinions and to push for changes,” https://www.thaipbsworld.com/move-forward-to-press-ahead-with-amending-article-112-but-within-limits-imposed-by-court/ They also know that they will likely have to go even further ....until the "end" is achieved. This is not the same game as it was pre-'16.

Have you ever smoked or ingested marijuana?
Enoon replied to flyingtlger's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
Yes I have. Did plenty of both for about 5 years during '70s. I came to see it as a dead end. -

Tragic scooter crash in Thailand leaves Queensland dad in coma
Enoon replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The helmet didn't protect her.....it merely facilitated a "miracle": "......while his partner miraculously emerged unscathed, having worn a helmet during the heart-stopping crash." Idiot "journalist". -
Russians conned in 720,000 baht Phuket villa booking scam
Enoon replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Russians are not a race. They are an ethnic group that established a nation state named Russia. Other ethnic groups exist in the state and hold Russian nationality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_groups_in_Russia -
Three weeks of Songkran celebrations begin April 1st
Enoon replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thanks for making everything clear. Of course the resident population and visiting tourists can be totally relied upon not to seize the opportunity to create what they will perceive, in their pin brains, as "State Approved" mayhem, anytime, day or night, for three weeks. I am booked to fly out at midday on the 1st.......no doubt those left behind are most reassured by your optimistic repetition of the "RULES". -
Scottish woman’s cliff plunge in Thailand sparks insurance debacle
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The various different UK insurance companies that I have used over the past 14 years have all stated that I would only be covered if I was riding a motorcycle of the type that I am licenced to ride in the UK. My UK licence is a full and unlimited capacity licence.......I could ride whatever I like in Thailand. I doubt this UK woman had any previous experience of MCs, or any any knowledge of MC licensing in the UK or what it was she was riding in Thailand. Ignorance can be extremely injurious to health, wealth and happiness. -
Scottish woman’s cliff plunge in Thailand sparks insurance debacle

You think you can't get seriously injured riding a 125cc bike? Don't ride any MC unless you are certain that your insurance covers you. -
Thai parties unite to amend Referendum Act for easier constitution change

See next door in Burma for what happens when the people get on the streets in a country where the Army is boss. Street protests are just a further step along the road to the inevitable. There is no civil solution. -

% of children suffering sexual abuse by region (UK of course is categorised a European) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_sexual_abuse Systemic Institutionalised Child abuse in the Australian State of Victoria anyone?: https://www.hallpayne.com.au/blog/2024/january/vic-schools-sexual-abuse-inquiry/ "Initially, the inquiry encompassed 18 schools. The scope has now broadened to 24 schools, with the inclusion of Bundalong South Primary School, Chelsea Heights Primary School, Cowes Primary School, Drouin South Primary School, Kunyung Primary School, and Warragul Primary School. This expansion underscores the gravity of the issue." https://www.hallpayne.com.au/blog/2023/october/beaumaris-primary-school-sexual-abuse/
