I actually found & started that video while I was in great pain. I was shocked at how it helped. Hope it does help you too! The video of those can be done very gently. But seemed to elongate that & I felt instant relief Of course as you said I appreciate we're all different & of course this is just an online talk with others with bad backs ???? Which may or may not be similar Good Luck back pain can be such a problem I know.... for me it even got to a point mentally that I wondered if this is now how life will be. Hang in there????

Good for you! I think many folks have never had hand made nice wooden things handed down in their family Nothing wrong with you wanting to keep those & make them part of your new life in your new home Good Luck!

Yes & I think mostof us "older" folks can say the same ???? But..... "before, for many years now" you were younger, you didn't have a broken hip with titanium parts, etc etc We age & don't realize how we are stiffening & while yes you said you always had tight hamstrings your body may have been able to overcome it before by using other muscles But it does creep up on you & the main difference IMHO between young & old is in reality flexibility. The older stiffer folks have a very tough time & become ever more fragile. They do not survive any simple falls well at all. Of course it all does not rule out a actual breakage or disc problem etc but by the way your describing things it sounds like you have just gotten very tight. The cure/repair will not come overnight but give it your best shot as it sure beats spinal surgery or meds that will only ever disguise the injury/ hide the pain. That in itself only leads to worse damages trust me I know as I lived on them awhile as it allowed me to continue the heavy lifting of my job at that time ???? Good Luck!

That is brilliant & in my experience so true! Many times in my life my back has gotten so damaged & it was usually always 6-8 weeks before it got better During that time of course I tried things like Chiropractor, Acupuncture, pain meds etc etc Nothing really cured it but as you said the last therapist always has the best result ???? But in recent years I have really come to realize the prevention is what works for me & although I always thought I was in shape truthfully I was getting tighter & tighter in places & my body just compensated for it till it couldn't then it lets go & takes time to recover Thanks again for that great quote! "nature takes care of the disease while the doctor/therapist entertains the patient". ????

Rise in expatriate residence in Thailand prompts tourism benefits plan
mania replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
How about Thailand start with the easy ones? For instance ... 1- If Thailand gives us a 1 year visa extension why do we need to check in every 90 days? 2- If we have a one year visa extension why when we get home from a short domestic inter Thailand vacation do we need to report like criminals if we stay in a hotel elsewhere in Thailand rather than our home? 3- What really is the re-entry permit for? If we come back & the one year visa in our passport is still valid .......its still valid period right? Why do we need that silly 1900 baht permission slip to use what we already paid for??? That would be a nice start at least for expatriates and remote workers ????- 22 replies

Being a retired Gen Contractor I have had decades of back problems. Like you as I got older they got worse to a point where a few times I was fully locked. When that happened it would take 6-8 weeks to get better....slowly But a few years ago I found in my case my work & single type of exercises were actually leaving areas even tighter so have found some great stretches that helped & also more full body exercises to help not being so one dimensional & causing tightness elsewhere In my case I found the Quadratus Lumborum was a culprit The stretches this lady shows in her Pilates video helps a lot Quadratus Lumborum Pain and Tightness Program Fix! Another one that really helped the most was the stretch shown on this video at 3:24 Although you should check the whole video & also search lower back pain in all his videos! Jeff Cavaliere is very knowledgeable Good Luck!

Medical insurance for American Expat
mania replied to charleskerins's topic in Insurance in Thailand
I'm a couple years younger but just bought IMG You can try their online quotes free Seems like its pretty good coverage at a fair price https://www.imglobal.com/travel-medical-insurance -
That is really the only way they could do it & they already do in Thai bank savings after interest reaches x amount per year Claiming it back wasn't that hard but did involve getting a Thai Tax ID number. Once they see your a foreigner of course your sent a check but what a unnecessary hassle. In any case if they pull this next deal off it is quite large & in some ways seems more like a sanction, So if it goes forward my hope is countries all over the world do the exact same to all monies coming in from Thailand The real rulers of Thailand would shut it down very quickly at that point

We almost did exactly that. Had a sale agreement & at the last minute the person decided maybe rent would be good to decide for sure & after I thought about it I agreed. Seven years later 2016 we decided the current coup/junta was different & we wanted to move home. Well house mortgage was pretty well paid off so we moved back in & paid the small balance off. Lived rent free since But the best part is the home is now more than 3x the appraised value it was when we were about to sell. All just by sheer luck as we really thought as most do that we would never go back & while we knew it was a bad time to sell we didn't know how much the value would increase in the coming years. Funny truth is we still have our home in Thailand & go back each year for 3 months. We are getting ready to go again next month. Each year we wonder but this year we really want to decide about moving back there or not. So again we will be faced with the same question...Sell all or not ???? We are older now so if we move back we do not think we would want to do it all again moving back to falangland so we wonder about many things like of course health insurance although we are fit or even just Thailand's lack of consistency about pretty much anything like the recent tax deal or immigration

Soon they need to change Zelensky name to Freedom Fighters or something similar. It's DejaVu...similar to arming Majahideen/Osama Bin Laden...& asking them to fight Russians in Afghanistan...... Then later Biden will try telling their new pals what to do & they tell Biden now you get the H#$ out of here too ???? Also similar to Libya You know what they say...money to be made supplying tools of the trade. Sadly while it looks good in print it is US taxpayers that later are asked to bend over & spell R-U-N as they ultimately get the bill Ooops Yeah History is like that ????

Thai PM says he opposes the recreational use of cannabis
mania replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The whole problem should be laid at the feet of that Nimrod Anutin It is obvious he profited in many ways not least of which was insider trading of info about this loophole he was creating Proof of which can be seen in the over abundance of high end shops popping open instantly with product that should have taken min 3 months to come to market Now when it all goes belly up I hope all those that paid him will seek compensation in $$ or skin -
Gold Prices in Thailand Hit New High as Baht Weakens
mania replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Ah but it is ???? That is what I was explaining ...Gold is gold there is no Thai gold, German gold, Canadian gold etc etc There is X amount of gold & that is what counts times the weight of it times the World spot price per troy ounce Thai gold does not mean it is gold mined from Doi Suthep ???? It is just pure gold from where ever that was then melted & fashioned into either jewelry or bars etc in Thailand. Except in Thailand they do of course charge a small fabrication charge if you choose jewelry over bullion. That is why you usually see two prices in front of gold shops or on their LCD price panel -

mania replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
well it is worth exactly the same as all gold once it is normalized...meaning X amount of gold x spot price If you mean it take a lot more 14k weight to make a troy ounce compared to 22k well yes of course Because 14k is 58.5% gold & 22k is 91.67% gold -

Sorry you misunderstand Gold is Gold period & is priced by World Spot Price period People confuse purity % with value or weight in baht vs weight in Troy etc etc Thai gold does not mean mined in Thailand anymore than USA or Canadian gold means it was mined in the US or Canada. Same goes for Silver or any precious metal -
Gold Prices in Thailand Hit New High as Baht Weakens
mania replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes different gold bullion's & coins have different purity's. BUT that does not mean it has less gold A Kruggerand or US Eagle may be only 91.67% / 22k purity versus Canadian Maple 99.99% / 24k but both will be minted to contain 1 troy oz of gold Yes the lower % purity coin will end up weighing a bit more but if both were refined to remove the additional alloys used to hardened the coins or jewelry the same total amount of pure gold would be in each. Meaning two different purity 1 oz coins like mentioned above both have 1 troy oz of pure gold in them So basically for instance the standard weight of both the Krugerrand and eagle are 1.09 troy oz compared to 1 troy oz for the maple leaf. This extra 0.09 troy oz accounts for the alloy in the gold Krugerrand and gold eagle coins, which brings their total gold content to the same as the gold maple leaf – 1 troy ounce. -
I always wanted to try the at the airport method but was always too afraid it might be closed or they wanted a form I didn't have etc etc thus blowing the yearly extension

This is a big problem with this country & its so called "Ministers" of this & that. Their plans are always clear as mud with zero foresight. Nor do they discuss first with the government/parliament or put things to a vote No instead with their Napoleon syndrome they like to make grand announcements. ???? But take it back or not it shows all investors one thing & that is you can count on nothing stability wise in Thailand.

Yeah & that is a good reason to go for it at least for 5 years. Or even just 3-4 if she went for citizenship which is not hard. Then for sure she would get spousal benefits even if you were alive she would get a 50% check. Plus the US passport all else aside is a pass to travel anywhere if later she was interested in trips/vacations etc. Work even without a PHD is plentiful if one wants it in the USA
-
Well tell her sometimes trying is good & nothing is set in stone. But if she likes it she can get US citizenship in her third year in the USA. Something you cannot get in Thailand as easily. Also let her know even if she does not do the US citizenship if she stays 5 years in the USA she automatically gets Social Security when she is 62 albeit as a spousal benefit meaning 50% amount of what ever your getting but hey free $$$ right? Not to mention Medicare Of course if she decided to work in the USA she could get even more but up to her. Social Security Benefits for Non-U.S. Citizens Living Abroad
