  1. What first struck me in your post, is the word 'hate'. I was reading about the Israel-Palestine conflict, and one narrative suggested that the main problem is the hate that one side had towards the other side. Should be obvious which side has that particular emotion. And I was thinking that I do not remember ever saying that I hate something, or someone. Never. Of course in some instance, I do not like something or someone. Emotion that is easily manageable. So just a thought, if you re-phrased your text, not like, instead of hate, you would certainly feel a lot better all day. Oh, my apologies, I got carried away from the topic. So yes, these shirtless people should show respect towards others, particularly Thai people, who do wear a shirt. Even though I never get close enough to them to know if their shirts are smelly or not...
  2. Always the same problem. Drivers going too fast. The pick-up truck driver estimated that he had time to make the turn. Three motorbike riders were able to just slow down for the truck, and the one that was going too fast, came from behind, and was unable to avoid the collision, because of the speed. Most of the time the speed is the cause....
  3. Well yes, my words. I often use this word 'merit', often when I discuss the notion of 'Interest' and 'to like or not'. My son would know that I wrote something, when he sees this word. When I say for example, "It is more accurate to say that one does not know about something, rather than saying, 'I do not like something, or I am not interested in something. I used to ask people to tell me something that they know well, and do not like. After getting some startling responses, I started adding, 'something that you know well, and has merit.." It eliminates such responses as 'Violence', answer that I did get once. Now take a listen to this video of an event that happened in a small town in France....
  4. You would have been angry. But would you have killed him???
  5. Well, difficult to discuss with with someone whose response is the embodiment of blindness to facts that do not fit your narrative. So you are saying that all the Thais that react to farangs driving big bikes too fast, that they should stop looking at those farangs, and focus on Thais only, driving smaller motorbikes. Get a grip man.
  6. Oh well, apologies. There seems to have been a problem posting, so i tried to do it again, and again. Hehe. What you refer to as 'anti-farang', which is literally putting words in my mouth, as I have never said that, comes from seeing and hearing loud large motorbikes on the roads, and when we look, it is a young farang driving. And I say 'we', because the Thai people observing this quickly agree, that these farangs are a problem. So these young farangs are making a bad impression to all. And it is a new phenomenon. When I hear a loud noise behind me, noise coming louder and louder, I have some fear that this idiot might lose control of his motorbike, as I see many times while driving. The danger on the road does come 'mostly' from young stupid farangs on large motorbikes. Even the dangerous pick-up drivers must slow down in heavy traffic, unlike the motorbikes, who get to still drive recklessly by driving around the traffic. ''Phuket reports high numbers of motorbike accidents involving tourists" https://scandasia.com/phuket-reports-high-numbers-of-motorbike-accidents-involving-tourists/ By Dec 23 the number of road deaths in Phuket accidents reached 103 cases, the number of hospital admissions hit 16,689 cases (compared to 71 deaths and 13,134 hospitalisations for year 2021). According to ThaiRSC, over 75% Phuket accidents with deaths and hospitalisations involved motorcycles. This road safety awareness video, released by Ramathibodi Hospital's Child Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention Centre (CSIP) last year, has resonated with many in Thailand, where 73 per cent of traffic-related deaths involve motorcycles. Experts said last month that, on average, 5,500 motorcyclists die annually - or 15 deaths a day. The figure continues to climb, making Thailand the world's deadliest country for two-wheelers. The issue returned to the fore this month after two separate motorbike accidents in Phuket killed a pregnant British tourist and seriously injured another British tourist.
  7. I am not in Pattaya. But might be the same here in Phuket. The dangers on the road comes mostly from young stupid farangs. Those who drive motorbikes with motors with 350 c.c or above. I have been here for more than 15 years. This is a new problem here. These stupid people, taking advantage of the lack of police patrols on the roads, endanger people's lives. I used to not be very happy towards Thais who drove too fast, but currently, farangs have become more of a threat on the roads. If they drive cars or busses, I do not know, but if they do, I never feel threatened by cars or busses driven by anyone. Motorbikes are the problem. Farangs come here, and most of them leave their brain back home...

  15. Thanks. Some substance that we can look at here. In the last video, the narrative indicates that immigration does have some benefits, but only when the immigration level is low, as it was some years ago. Currently, the immigration level is too high, as described, ans the result is that these newcomers cannot assimilate, as they are numerous enough to create areas in a host country where their own values dominate. And then problems between cultures arise. Douglas Murray documents this. "Douglas Murray went to Doha to have a debate about asylum-seekers. It was in a hostile crowd where everyone else believed asylum-seekers all have a right to come to Europe. The host even suggesting Britain should give up its culture if it offends immigrants." In my country, Muslims have been welcomed. But they already created their own Middle-East area, where they live all close to each other, right next to the new Mosque that they built, next to the Halal stores. And in our supermarket stores, women dressed in Burkas walk around, in this store where we used to have small baskets to buy just a few items. The baskets, that were available for as long as I remember, have disappeared, because they were all stolen, the year of the arrival of a great number of Muslims. Immigration has some benefits, when there is merit in the people that immigrate.
  16. I have a friend also who would accept information, facts, data, news, ideas, all of that, only from certain sources. He was such a bigot. But I am attaching the same kind of information, just in case this source would please you, even though it refers to the same type of information.

  18. And all of this while the thief is begging for more gold.....
  19. I bought a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses from them. They were at 75% off. I did buy them, while telling them that their price paying only 25% of the sticker price, is the regular price in my country. Just the way it is. And your optical glasses would cost about half of what you paid in any other country, with a 2 year full no-question asked insurance. No such insurance here...
  20. I use the minimum 65,000 bahts transfer per month. Which is easily spent every month. Bank account kept at just about 5,000 after I withdraw for my daily expenses. I used the 800,000 bahts option only for the first year, as it was the only option then. Then I started transferring the 65,000 each month, and got the ensuing retirement extensions every year on that basis.
  21. Well, someone with a better brain will certainly use this money more wisely than this fellow did....
  22. Well, how about a bit of reality now.
  23. The answer was already there in my post: -'And one raised the subject of 'corruption'. And I replied, oh yes, I sometimes welcome corruption here.' And you are raising some hypothetical issues. You can go anywhere with that. What you are describing never happened to me or any of my friends in the more than 18 years that we have been here. You must be one hell of a bad lucky guy if it happened to you I suppose. Or was it all hypothetical?
  24. I was chatting with some police officers that I know here in Thailand. And one raised the subject of 'corruption'. And I replied, oh yes, I sometimes welcome corruption here. One officer friend of mine replied: 'You like corruption???'. (Which they all do in one way or another hehe). And I said yes, when I had a problem here that would have required a lawyer to fix, the police were called, who acted as police, lawyer and judge at the same time. Problem was resolved, way more cheaper than if I had to deal with the process that requires a lawyer. When I could not leave Thailand during Covid, and at the same time, I was forbidden to remain here, due to my visa being no longer valid soon, a bit of money solved the problem. Which I did welcome. So perhaps, idiocy might take different forms actually....
  25. This is as funny as it can get, hehe.....
