I have a friend also who would accept information, facts, data, news, ideas, all of that, only from certain sources. He was such a bigot. But I am attaching the same kind of information, just in case this source would please you, even though it refers to the same type of information.

I bought a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses from them. They were at 75% off. I did buy them, while telling them that their price paying only 25% of the sticker price, is the regular price in my country. Just the way it is. And your optical glasses would cost about half of what you paid in any other country, with a 2 year full no-question asked insurance. No such insurance here...

I use the minimum 65,000 bahts transfer per month. Which is easily spent every month. Bank account kept at just about 5,000 after I withdraw for my daily expenses. I used the 800,000 bahts option only for the first year, as it was the only option then. Then I started transferring the 65,000 each month, and got the ensuing retirement extensions every year on that basis.

Well, how about a bit of reality now.

The answer was already there in my post: -'And one raised the subject of 'corruption'. And I replied, oh yes, I sometimes welcome corruption here.' And you are raising some hypothetical issues. You can go anywhere with that. What you are describing never happened to me or any of my friends in the more than 18 years that we have been here. You must be one hell of a bad lucky guy if it happened to you I suppose. Or was it all hypothetical?

I was chatting with some police officers that I know here in Thailand. And one raised the subject of 'corruption'. And I replied, oh yes, I sometimes welcome corruption here. One officer friend of mine replied: 'You like corruption???'. (Which they all do in one way or another hehe). And I said yes, when I had a problem here that would have required a lawyer to fix, the police were called, who acted as police, lawyer and judge at the same time. Problem was resolved, way more cheaper than if I had to deal with the process that requires a lawyer. When I could not leave Thailand during Covid, and at the same time, I was forbidden to remain here, due to my visa being no longer valid soon, a bit of money solved the problem. Which I did welcome. So perhaps, idiocy might take different forms actually....

More Thai youth at risk of diabetes due to their eating habits
Andre0720 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
You are again falling back on Sophisms. At least it suggests an answer to my question, which is that you did not include philosophy as part of your studies... (Which excludes college or University. Is it right?) -

No offense intended. But from what you write, it would be interesting, and useful, to know your IQ and level of education... Just curious, for obvious reasons.... -

No. Very slim actually. But why such a question? -
More Thai youth at risk of diabetes due to their eating habits
Andre0720 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Well, you start off with a sophism, a fallacy. Which typically can be identified when one can reply: 'It is not because this or that, that a conclusion could be right'. In this instance, "it is not because YOU eat a lot of sugars and carbs, and has yet to develop health problems, that these products are then not dangerous to health." So just give it a try. It is not that complicated after all. Yes, one can eat a lot of slow acting poisons, before health can be affected. You will find the reasoning behind that in the word 'SLOW' . From Google: It is common knowledge that white-sugar is a high risk-factor for heart ailments, weight-gain, type-2 diabetes and cancer. Excess white-sugar consumption leads to frequent blood sugar spikes that stress the body's cells and increase the risk for type-2 diabetes. Why is refined sugar poisonous? Over time, this can lead to a greater accumulation of fat, which may turn into fatty liver disease, a contributor to diabetes, which raises your risk for heart disease. Consuming too much added sugar can raise blood pressure and increase chronic inflammation, both of which are pathological pathways to heart disease. -

The problem is actually the refined sugar. Of course, foods containing carbohydrates become glucose or blood sugar when digested, but these are no way as detrimental to health as the refined sugar. First, what you refer to as junk food, someone can eat some from time to time. But refined sugar, people in Thailand cannot eat only from time to time. Refined sugar is in all food, that they eat 3 times a day in their meals, and then added sweet snacks. Refined sugar is the poison here. I had not bought refined sugar for some 40 years or so. No refined sugar in my house. The food that I cooked then did not contain refined sugar. When I started to have some health issues, I looked for possible causes. Sugar. Then I started looking for sources of this sugar. Only to find out that all food here, yes all, contain added sugar. Even the bottled sauces from the mini-marts contain typically some 20% of added refined sugar. So I stopped completely to eat Thai food, that I now consider as a slow acting poison. When I discussed this with a fellow from my country also, I remember him saying: 'I thought that I was eating healthy'. Vegetables, chicken, rice, all sound good doesn't it? Here are two photos of refined sugar delivered to the Super Cheap mini-mart close by. Taken about 10 days apart. They do not even take the time to take the sugar inside the store... People are slowly poisoning themselves here. So no more Thai food for me. -
Sedan Plunges Down Patong Hill after Crash, Driver Blames Brake Failure
Andre0720 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Ah these brake failures. Seem to always happen in a dangerous road, downhill, or lots of curves, or narrow, anything that require vigilance. They all claim lots of vigilance, but then the brakes, these darn brakes, they can fail... Anyone here had a brake failure, anyone?? Motorcycle, car, even bicycle... Anyone. But here, darn, seems like all the cars on this land were made in a remote rural area. Lots of savings on excise taxes... -

Young Russian Tourist Attacked and Robbed of Phone in Pattaya
Andre0720 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I remember being robbed in Naples Italy, many years ago. My girlfriend went to our rented car in the morning to get something, came back, in a state of panic. 'The car has been broken in, she said, and everything has been taken'. I remember telling her that it was ok. She got a bit puzzled. I said hey, they stole everything, while we were sleeping. And I thank them for that, no violence. Now how come these two men could not find a way to steal a phone, without violence? Why? -
Foreigner Arrested at Phuket Airport for 80 Days of Overstay

Foreigner Arrested at Phuket Airport for 80 Days of Overstay
Andre0720 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Seems to me that the ideal situation would be to get rid of over-stayers, get them out of the country, eliminate this horrible crime. But I was wrong, the objective is to give opportunities to take nice photos of officials at work. The plane was right there, waiting to take away the 'threat', and this opportunity was ignored. Wish I understood.... -

Getting used to live in a wheel chair
Andre0720 replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Just give it a try... Maybe you can at least get close to an ideal. Just like, if you put aside $500,000 for eventual medical expenses. Some $50,000, in case you get hungry. Some $50,000, in case your dwelling needs repairs. And if you still have on million dollars left, do you really think it is better to die with it, or try to enjoy it while you are still alive. Many people choose to die with it... -

I would think that Biden might be in a position to help in this situation... But seriously, kind of sad, but our youth will all be stolen by old age. Lost a good friend lately. He had accumulated a good amount of money, that he so difficultly spent. I remember telling him: 'Estimate the number of days you have left to live, divide your wealth by that number, and the result is what you should spend every day. If you fail to do that, your legacy will end up doing it for you. He ended up spending a bit more, but for most people in the same situation, it appears like their objective, is that when they die, that would be the day that they would have been the richest in their life... Well, he ended up achieved that... Beware... -
