  1. "The People’s Safety Foundation has made an appeal to the government". This "Foundation" should me made aware that the 'Thai people' are very happy with the way things are here. And that they will fight against any attempts for changes. And the Thai people will win. Compulsory wearing of helmets: 'No'. Speed limits: 'No'. Stopping at red lights: 'No' Stop illegally using a phone while driving: 'No' Stop illegally crossing over double lines on the roads' 'No" Respecting double lines on the roads: 'No'. Stop illegally passing cars on the roads: 'No' Stop driving against traffic: 'No'. The main problem is that people here do not have fear on the roads. None. So what would be the reason for any changes. Passengers on motorbikes, are totally oblivious to the way the drivers go at high speed zigzagging between vehicles. They show absolutely no fear, eyes looking straight down on their mobiles, trying to get the latest gossip on their favorite site... But then, I suppose that this Foundation has to emit some kind of narrative, to justify its existence...
  2. If you combine the selfishness pervasive in this culture, with its irresponsibility, it all becomes clear
  3. In Thailand, some types of thefts are are frowned on...
  4. And just to think that all these words that we hear ad nauseam, the Ka and Kap, are meant as deep and profound signs of respect. What if these words would simply disappear, well, could not get worse....
  5. Beware the limits of emotional control of people in some countries. Some.....
  6. Well, actually, it is that they do not want these Arab Palestinians to bring their problems with them in the neighboring countries. Palestinians are just a basket of problems.... And now even London is getting a taste of it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_jJIoL-Gd0
  7. Perhaps you are referring to: 'Khohm chat'. Very clearly.
  8. And all the time i thought that this kind of behavior was limited to the Arab world and vision of the Koran...
  9. No. Tchat or chat. No U in there... How To Speak Thai You'll know you're well on the way to getting it right if you start being told that you poot tai chat (speak Thai clearly) rather than simply geng (well). And also: speak clearly พูดอย่างชัดเจน Phūd xỳāng chạdcen
  10. The problem that I encounter when I speak Thai to Thai people, is that they automatically shift to speaking as if I am a local Thai person. Then I must remind them that I am a foreigner, and that I must hear all the words they say, in order to understand. Very difficult to make them understand that. That I need to at least hear the words that I do not know, in order to check out their meaning. They have been taught to speak as fast as they can, with words mingled together, thus simply creating sounds. I was surprised to listen to a politician, making a speech online. Spoke slowly, clearly. Educated person. It took me 3 years to know what Thai people were saying, when quickly making noise from their mouth. Uneducated people. Gin cow liang. I checked that word in translators, modified the writing, nothing gave me a result. One day as I was getting a haircut, the lady cutting my hair said to someone in the shop: Gin cow rue yang. I knew the word 'rue', and the word 'yang'. But 'liang'. Wow, two words, two. But nobody here pronounces 2 words.
  11. Do not forget that the Arab neighboring countries to Palestine, those who know the most about these people, all refuse to accept them as refugees in their country. Must be a reason don"t you think....
  12. Well then, just one question: 'How much money from your pocket have you contributed to help Immigrants, or refugees?. How many of these people have you offered a roof to at your expense? Always the same, 'compassion', as long as someone else is paying the bill'.
  13. Such a superficial post. Immigration, which type of immigration are you referring to? Which type of immigrants are you referring to? Immigrants from many countries can contribute to the culture of host countries. And some immigrants from other countries immigrate to host countries, and bring with them all of the problems that they wanted to leave in their country of origin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UDBj02N06o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR_nLEe9g7g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYSX2vI7oPk
  14. And all this while, Brits are complaining about how the behavior of immigrants at home make their country look bad....
  15. Perhaps they think that foreigners have the privilege here to use medical facilities in Thailand, and forcing Thai people to queue behind them. TIT....
  16. All those who understand the culture in this land, they were all waiting, and all survived. They understand the lack of enforcement of traffic laws here, combined with the selfishness of the locals who will try to save some seconds... The locals here understand that, because that is what they want, as everybody here will want to avoid the frustration of having to wait a minute because they just missed a green light by a few seconds. That is what the people want here, and that is why traffic laws are not enforced. So they wait some 5 seconds or more before they go through a green light, because they also do not like that frustration when it happens to them. It is a social agreement, this Ukrainian man was unaware of that so it appears....
  17. Re-posting this one here... Seems like you might need this knowledge as well..... "Well yes, in this land, situations are mostly related to money and territory. I am located in Phuket, and there are many Agents who offer a service of dealing with an IO on a customer behalf, for a fee. And this fee is shared between the Agent, and at a very high level at the IO, then further shared... And strangely, some of the Agents are able to conduct their business directly with the local IO, while others go through a remote IO, such as Nakhon Sawan. Now why is that, I have no idea. Appears like Agents must be 'accredited' for the use of such a service at a given IO. And those Agents who appear to not be able to be accredited locally here, are always able to find a remote IO that is willing to offer such a service to Agents. But the consequence of getting a 'retirement extension' from a remote location, would mean that the IO doing a 90 day for example, would be required to do that 'free' work, while knowing very well that a non-local IO got a share of the money for the initial 'extension' work. Not happy with that. So some Agents who deal with a non-local IO, for whatever reason, will offer a free service of obtaining all 90 day reports from the IO that was used to obtain the 'retirement visa'. This of course would entail having to send the passport again and again through mail to obtain the 90 day stamps. Something that of course anyone would like to avoid. An IO can tell what process was originally used to obtain a service, through a quick glance at the passport. That is what they do for a living. A few seconds will do it... And to add to the complexity of this situation, once a foreigner has used an Agent, the IO will try as they can to keep this individual to keep on putting money in the system. Lots of money in there. Trying to do further 'retirement extensions' on your own, at the lower fee of course, will get you to be faced with all sorts of problems, being raised by the IO, to make the process as long and difficult as possible. With the aim of breaking you down and getting you back at an Agent's office, and paying the bigger fee. If one is intent on not paying for an Agent, make sure that your income taxes are in order in your country, make sure that your embassy will offer a service of confirming your income, and accept to be patient time and time again when you are told that "Oh, the for that you used is an out-dated one. Use this one, and come back some other day..... I was initially forced to go see an Agent, after the onset of the Covid era, with airport closed here, borders of neighboring countries closed, so not being able to leave the country to extend my OA visa, and not being able to stay in the country, as my visa would soon expire. 2019, 2020. When I explained that at the IO, I was told that there was nothing that they could do. The law was written this way. Then I was told in a whisper, go see an Agent, they will fix it up for you. And Agent, Oh yes."
  18. Well open your eyes for a change. Otherwise I would have again to educate people on the culture here, including yourself so it appears
  19. I never wai. I never say Khap either. I believe that these contribute to the total selfishness of this culture. Never seen people in any country as selfish as the people here. If it happens, there is a reason. So I have been looking for what is different from other cultures here. Certainly Buddhism is not the cause of this selfishness. Then I started pointing a finger at something else that could explain it....

  21. Speed.... Speed.....Speed.... Combined to these drivers refusal to reduce speed in dangerous situations. And now their ways of driving should dictate how the infrastructures should be designed and located. It is simply that I have never even gotten close to an electrical post in all my nearly 200,000 km of motorcycle driving here...
  22. Fully agree. I could not believe how badly I was treated when AC left me in Vancouver, refusing to help me, after the flight from Toronto was late, and my connecting flight in Vancouver had already left. And I asked at a desk why they let me board a flight that they knew would leave me stranded in Vancouver. Simple reason, after a first segment of a flight is completed, the flight fee is cashed. No care at all about he passengers.
  23. Here is one quote that I like: “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”. But then reality strikes. Most people are just not lucky. The fact that we do not have 'free will', and that we do what we learned from our surroundings, family, friends we make, people we meet, culture, society. And for many people, these surroundings just came out of some kind of bad luck. And the resulting person that we become, gets modified by our genetics, our brain wiring, that many times are just out of bad luck. Handicaps, brain limitations, education limitations, knowledge limitations, brain defects, schizophrenia, sociopathic or psychopathic tendencies, or even more simple, how people's brains are influenced by how our parents behaved with their children. It is known now that the tendency to be an intimidator, or a critical interrogator, or being aloof, or claiming to be a victim, comes from manipulation strategies used by parents while raising their children. James Redfield... And this just adds up to our lack of 'free will'. And then people are either 'extraverted', or 'introverted', which again will drive individuals in different directions. And then we can add the characteristics of people being 'visual', or 'auditive', or 'kinestetic', which will compound even more the way they will live their life with even less 'free will'. And then some people will possess the characteristic of empathy or not. Some people will never understand the notion of philanthropy, humanism, benevolence, charity, which will exclude many domains of interest. A life driven by selfishness. Which again will further remove whatever free will might have been left. Resulting in so many people appearing to want to die with as much wealth as possible. So, of course, work is definitely an option. Which we all think that we are the sole individual to decide upon, regarding what we choose, when we start, and when we put an end to it. My apologies, seems like I got carried away. What was the subject again??
  24. This IO was certainly looking for a reason to deny you an entry. Earlier boarding passes, nobody ever asks for that, then walking away to find a better reason. Lack of funds, with no supporting documentation. Hopefully you did not sign that form. And you are in a position where you need to make him 'lose face', by contesting his decision. Can you go back to this same IO, totally apologetic that you forgot to show 'proof of funds'. They used to take brown envelopes, I do not know if this is still the case. But try appealing to him, with deep 'wai's, otherwise, you might at least be at this airport for a while... Good luck...
