  1. At the German embassy you show your pension statement from the pensions authority, and they issue a nice looking certificate, stamped and signed by the consul, stating you get above 65000 a month income. What noone tells you until you submit it to immigration is that you need a 'verification' stamp on it from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Immigration will waive that for a (ridiculous and hefty) 'fee'. Do the footwork instead guys. Why the Brits or anyone else can't do that is beyond me.
  2. It can be quite hit and miss/last minute trying for C class seats with TG, but they are part of the Star Alliance so their miles should be valid on other carriers as well ...
  3. I got a refund 6 weeks ago for an Air Asia flight I cancelled in January. I chased it up some time in April but all it said was 'in process'. I gave up on it cos it was only the fuel/tax etc and not worth the aggravation tilting at windmills. And then suddenly there it was on my CC. Happy happy - I'd forgotten all about it.
  4. I prefer LH and OS. Non-stop from MUC/VIE. Plenty of time for grub, movie, decent kip. Though LH business class is outrageous - still with 2-2-2 so I've been avoiding them till they get the new layout in.
  5. I had a similar experience in CPH on the way back home - the two planes were parked at opposite ends of the airport. 40 minutes to get thru and hope the bags make it on. They did. I've flown Thai C + Y recently and never found cause for complaint. Other than booking that insane turnround which was even worse because they didn't book me right thru to final destination - after legging it across 3 terminals I just scraped in as they were boarding.
  6. By the time that circus is over he'll have had another 4 years in the WH ???? But I see. what you're saying.
  7. I was just interested that's all. Thanks for the numbers. I had no idea previously.
  8. I think and hope so. But we'll see. The vagaries of jurisprudence can be very deceptive - as every lawyer who's lost a case will know. And even if he's found guilty of all of that, it's still not guilty of the charge of insurrection which seems to be the condition for banning him.
  9. He didn't want to appear for arraignment precisely because it's gonna bring home the reality, truth and gravity of what's going on even to the dumbest MAGA punter.
  10. They don't do decent public service any more for the oiks. Neither in Thailand nor back home.
  11. He has to be found guilty first before such laws can be applied I suspect. And as far as I've seen he hasn't been charged with insurrection either.
  12. Trump doesn't want to go in front of the cameras? Must be a first. The truth hurts and must be hidden as far as possible. Roll on next March after jury selection ????
  13. You seem to have found the numbers, so I'd be interested in knowing the 400% increase to what actual number ...? My Europension still gets me a Non-O anyway. Though if Big Joke gets his way, maybe I might just not bother any more because I've never accepted being jerked around like that ???? ... and while that definitely won't break the Bank of Thailand, I'll be quite happy to spend it somewhere else after a visa exempt snowbird type visit. Malaysia is really interesting and gives 90 days on arrival ???? Cambodia and Laos are also worth visits if the Thais don't want normal people any more. I guess Hells Angels are more lucrative for the BiB.
  14. Yes, I was aware of that. It's not SOP for me. But I had neither time nor interest in commenting on such a miserable article which itself was based on absolutely nothing except the author's own imagination.
  15. And when he runs out of other 'enemies' to lock up, he'll be coming after you ... they always do.
  16. Looks more like a (aircon?) duct collar to me. Looks rather aircrafty to me. But who knows? I'm sure we'll get the answer soon.
  17. I've thought of starting one myself after watching things like catfish on YouTube ???? Talk about easy money. Wow!
  18. As long as they aren't the ghosts of my past I wouldn't be too worried ????
  19. My understanding is that a lot of government hospital doctors also work in the BH etc networks.
  20. I was pleasantly surprised to get stamped in for 90 days visa exempt in KL, which was accompanied by a smile and the enjoinder to enjoy my stay. It's why I will be returning there for longer on my next LOS trip. (I was on a weekender/border bounce at the time).
  21. I once heard it said that at 20 you have the face god gave you. At 50 you have the face you gave you. I've often found there's at least a smidgin of truth in it.
  22. The very 4 I took on my first SE Asia trip! I didn't follow the GH/hotel recommendations religiously, and generally found equally good stays close by (the pricing policy of the recommended ones often reflected their new found fame), and used them as mines of information - often about things that didn't even concern me, I just wanted to absorb as much info as I could. I also bought well produced maps which I still prefer to GPS. I haven't bought an LP (Asia) for donkeys now.
  23. Can you imagine the danger and the scene if this lot were to try and (illegally but these types would try anyway) to retrieve their cabin baggage during a crash landing? Well done for dumping them.
