I am browsing the LTR Visa now... Is that correct that there will be no taxation on foreign income? Do they just look at the past year for proof of $80k income? And do you need only $100k in a bank here in lieu of health insurance? If you have tried for this visa, have you run into any issues? Easy process? Thanks.

What are the requirements exactly for credit cards? I would imagine that there are no exact requirements, but there is also the judgement of the loan officer. Imagine that you are a loan officer - and you are responsible for the money... even imagine people coming to you personally for a loan - strangers, who could disappear in a flash and go back to their home country and you would have to track them down at quite a cost if even possible - how many people would you want to lend money to? I have lent money to friends - not many or often but people in trouble - maybe 50% paid me back... I think that is not a surprise. They are more likely to lend money to someone who can put up collateral and have a lifetime of living in Thailand and have families here and solid jobs - [Thai people] - right?

I have had many annoying experiences with banks in the USA over this issue. Being self employed was not viewed as kindly as getting a regular paycheck.

most likely is that you don't have a sufficient credit history... giving credit is lending money and they would be reluctant to give it to any foreigner, who could easily disappear tomorrow. They want to be 100% sure they will get paid back - - - banks are not gamblers. I have a lifetime history of being honorable and making all payments in my home country - I have substantial 'bank' here for many years... I even know some bankers personally - I don't need a loan but I would not expect credit here.

They are not timid and hang around the pool when I am in... we chat as well, doing my best to mimic their sounds... I assume they are a couple - a minor Mynah and a major Mynah though they exhibit no signs of hierarchy...
