  1. That was the exact wording that came to my mind... Not easy to compare the monetary value of apples and oranges but there is so much more to living here than the cost of visa which you won't have in your home country. So many things are way way cheaper here and probably the more money you have, the more you will be saving.
  2. I have been here for many years and there seem to be times when it was easier and times when it was near impossible. They are concerned that she will remain and work and you cannot guarantee that she won't... What swayed it for us was an interview and a sympathetic interviewer. My GF at the time [now wife] met none of the qualifications but we came across as very honest. Immigration in the USA is a big political issue. I doubt it will be easy maybe not possible. I think rather than deal with the frustrating policies in the best of times, you might wait for a more favorable time.
  3. Yes, corn oil is bad - that was my assumption too...
  4. If he stays in the USA, he will be in jail by 2028
  5. Sounds like business as usual... But, not at my bank. I have had the same account for over 20 years and the management knows me and the account is locked down other than our regular transactions.
  6. lady cooks don/t scratch their nuts... mostly... I didn't forget, just didn't mention it along with the inevitable sneeze if they are near cooking nam phrik or basil...
  7. Funny wording, but yes, I have known for many years that I will die in Thailand. The only time I have left in the last 25 years was to visit my elderly parents. They are gone 12 years now and I have not left since then. My family is here. I have no desire to leave them.
  8. That can get expensive.. but worth it surely. I find that I can hit a cycle every 6-8 months or so... I keep enough in the bank here that it doesn't matter too much though I can make more on my money leaving it in the states... it adds a bit of security if I leave larger amounts here.
  9. 5,000 I think... I use my own bank account.
  10. or no fried food at all... just the smell of it makes me sick... ooo-wuk...
  11. You are not looking correctly... at least that is what my wife might say... Actually my wife is not well and is on a clean food diet... no seafood, rather bland. Though we don't eat out, my wife will still use some sort of corn oil at home but not often.
  12. And they put plenty of msg and some sugar... I vote with you. Not healthy... and for me, not delicious either.
  13. I am going to say 'things change' - - Can you remember this ditty about urban decay? Not so scary anymore... There's a holdup in the Bronx, Brooklyn's broken out in fights. There's a traffic jam in Harlem That's backed up to Jackson Heights. There's a scout troop short a child, Khrushchev's due at Idlewild Car 54, Where Are You? source: https://www.lyricsondemand.com/tvthemes/car54whereareyoulyrics.html
  14. I use an agent and everything is as easy as pie... takes less time than reading your post - and the cost for me is negligible... love my agent.
  15. Well, you do seem to realize it is a trend - look at a graph, it goes up and down... did you take note and exchange money, bring more money here when the rate was favorable? Did you comment here? The wheels on the bus go round and round -
  16. They didn't get along too well either... but at least no smackdowns...
  17. Can you recommend a place in CM area to repair and re-paint a couple of car dings?
  18. ommmmmmmm....
  19. And how did you come by the ownership? Just kidding - lighten up
  20. Cleaned? First we check its BMI to see if it deserves to be cleaned in the first place - Mama don't wan no diabetic legged a/c coming round' here! ok - once a year and it is cleaned by my maid's nephew who seems like a conscientious and capable young man - - if he kills me, she would lose a customer... and I roll the dice from there...
