  1. Most people are herd animals - that is how they are most comfortable. Safety in numbers and all that. My car screams if even the passenger won't put on a seat belt... I pay for Spotify so I can use in my car...
  2. I have had more poor Thai pay me back than wealthier farang... small sampling of course..
  3. you should carry a handkerchief in case you sneeze again...
  4. Well, I don't know how many vegans there are - - but the few I have met are exactly as you describe - they seem rather obnoxious and aggressively proud to be vegan... I could not care in the least what a person eats or doesn't eat... the last time I was in a vegan restaurant, they kept telling me 10 more minutes, until an hour passed... I paid them for half the meal that I never dcvd and left... I understand that is not every vegan experience, just mine. I wouldn't know if someone is a vegan or not - though surely they will tell me..
  5. ****Misquoted content edited out**** ok - nobody invited me into your squabble but how about this: Most charities are not charities either - w/their eye popping expenses and costs of business often little money actually gets through...
  6. Wait until season.. it will take your 30 minutes to get down Nimman if you want to go to Big C -
  7. Well, depending how you define the sticks.. there are no Tops store but if there were, prices would likely be the same... same as to chain restaurants - though if you go into stick cities you will find some... and no, healthcare is not not even close to similar as usually there are just a series of small clinics, some good, some not. first, it is not that there is nothing to do, just different things... it was never unusual to find 20 visiting family members hanging out, making a meal together, chatting. 2nd - if you want CM or Bkk style hanging out, you have to go there...
  8. There were a few times that I must have driven past it 3-4x before giving up... When you are driving here, as you know, if you are alone you have to concentrate on the road... but the food is good.
  9. I could not find a sign to let me know what soi.. I did find it a few times and it is a decent breakfast...
  10. Sausage King does have a decent breakfast... but how to find it - - it is down a very small unmarked soi off a somewhat larger soi There were times I drove past so many times that I gave up... Butter is Better is a 50s style NY Diner - owned by a real Ny'er - - easy to find on Chang Klan Road and a big plus in town, they have parking... big menu with lots of variety, not gourmet but great every day food. My favorite Western Breakfast...
  11. Not the one I knew... nasty piece of work though surely thought he was easy going...
  12. followed by Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get those peepers...
  13. Well, don't know of 'Perth Girl' - - - but it seems Vegans have a bit of a reputation of being mean...?? Is that correct?
  14. Wow - thanks for passing that along... certainly not what I would have expected... I do know of a Thai/Thai but not a farang/Thai relationship like that...
  15. I also have a good relationship with the father for over 20 years now... and i never really thought about it, I guess it began when I gave him 2x the dowry he asked for... he is a very nice man.
  16. When the thrill is gone? I like to nap
  17. probably best to educate them in the country where they are going to live
  18. What country is that? Many people in 3rd world countries create huge fortunes. And if it is stupid to come here w/little money, would it be even stupider to stay in a Western Country where you could not afford much and have to live on the streets w/the same money? You seem a bit out of touch - where would one go to beg for a visa? I don't think there is a window for that at immigration...
  19. Absolutely... and the reason for passing. I don't want a slow painful disease... Maude chose to make her own schedule... Harold interfered with a little...
  20. Maybe it's the same couple walking past you many times?
  21. That happens too... it is handled quite individually... if my kid ever marries, I would handle it exactly the same... each family is different as to needs and actions...
  22. The old line tradition was that each party designated a friend to negotiate the dowry and that way there was no conflict w/the family...
  23. A Thai fellow paid 500,000 for a lady in my village... And many years ago, a young Thai fellow that I knew was borrowing money and working hard because his wealthy bride to be - her family wanted a 15 MM baht house built for their daughter.... some people here think sin sod is just a custom made up for farang
  24. The answers would be in having money for health care and personal security and to pass along to your family and loved ones here... financial planning would be much easier if we had an expiration date...
