Not really. My wife is a devout Buddhist but never once says she is.. she just is...

I was recently at an airport waiting for an arrival... the Thais there were all masked in the waiting area, only two French farang were not. There was even an announcement about covid and staying masked. The farang who got off the plane, were 95% unmasked. The Thai were masked. I was embarrassed for the unmasked farang. Not masking in a public place when requested, is rude behavior. i don't like to wear a mask either, but for 30 minutes it was not a big deal and I was respecting others beliefs. This is not a post about the medical validity of masking, it is about respect and courtesy. If you are an atheist and sit down to dinner w/people who pray before dinner, you would sit quietly out of respect for their beliefs. This is even more egregious as people are concerned for their health whether needless or not.

And what is the other side of it?

Ok Sparky - beyond costs, what do you think about it socially? Is it a better society to live in? How is it for an 18 year old girl? Is it safe? Will she have a line of Aussie guys trying to hit on her? One of your favorite posters thinks the government will brand her a prostitute... does that go throughout the society? Is there Asian prejudice?

I have a Thai niece who is a good student, has 1.5 years worth of high school left. At the moment, she is not sure what she wants to do but just got the idea to go to Australia... to continue school, maybe work?? I will speak to her over the weekend. Is any part of her plan reasonable? Or not? What hurdles may she face there? How expensive are schools?
