Thai economy slows in July but stability still good - finance ministry
connda replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Considering it's Somchai Average who is taking the brunt of the economic beating, I'm sure the Ministry of Money will say "All is well, just a little bump in the road. Ignore the street people." -
Your not doing it right. The savvy jokesters create "Joe-Newbie" accounts then tell the fans you've lived in Thailand for the last upteen years but now need Dear Abbey advice regarding your relationship your pregnant Isaan girlfriend who you have fell madly in love with and want to make your wife except for her nagging mother, her drunk father, a drug addict brother and her sister who is coming on to you. "What should I do???" You can find these 1 post wonders pretty much weekly and they start out with lines that your average spam filter should catch. Personally I find them irritating as they are as waste of space, but somebody has a good laugh.

This is a screenshot of a search for the keyword "Dizziness" in the VAERS database. As you can tell, Pfizer is at the top of the list, i.e., out of all the vaccine side effects dealing with "Dizziness" reported to VEARS to date, 31.74% of them involve the Pfizer-BIONTech vaccine. So no, it's not an unusual side effect for that particular vaccine. Data from https://wonder.cdc.gov/vaers.html on Aug 31 2021 Searching VEARS can be a little daunting. Video below to do your own searches.

Dine-in customers to help restaurants recover 50 percent of income
connda replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Regular testing forever. Cui bono? Big pharma. Everyone else? The commoners? Naught but units of debits and credits to be controlled and harvested. 2022 will be bring Dystopia Thailand. "Come get some!" -
Dine-in customers to help restaurants recover 50 percent of income

So 50% of the original revenue means that most businesses will still be operating in the red. The only winners are the banks extending debt to keep these failing businesses operating. The rich understand how it works. That how they make their money. Bleeding the commoner class. -
Make sure your sunscreen is not on the banned list in Thailand
connda replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Some of the most pathetic coral I've seen in my global travels. It might have been Ok 30+ years ago. Now? Now the beach police will be looking to cash in on the unwary pasty white farangs. The damage to the local coral doesn't have much to do with sunscreen. The are much more obvious factors that are simply ignored. -
TAT set to announce re-opening of 7 more provinces
connda replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They need to work fast to magically make the "cases" number drop to at least triple digits. They will definitely need a Sha-Zam moment within the next 30 days. "Hey Rocky, wanna see me pull low case numbers out of a hat?" <Grrroowlll> "Not that hat!" -
Caveat - "For now." ???? Wait until 50% of the urban population has two shots and watch it all change. They will implement Covid Passports. It's too rich of an opportunity to display the Bangkok elite's power over the commoners. They simply have to. There is no way they can pass up this opportunity. Authoritarianism has been historically baked into the Thai culture. Once you reach a leadership position you have to show the public who is Boss. The commoners need to prostrate themselves in the wake of political power. And what use is power if you can't use it? But if they pull the trigger on it right now? They know they'll have a popular revolt on their hands.

No need to be vaccinated to use restaurants: Bangkok governor
connda replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Stick-Carrot. So translated: After September 30 the power-junkies will come out of their bureaucratic closets and mandate draconian measured including vaccine passports and antigen testing of restaurant staff. Let restaurants open and get a running start before slapping them back down and stamping the life out of them one more time. My guess is the day they think 50% of the population has had two shots they will go full-draconian. However, I think it's doubtful that come October 1 that Thailand will be anywhere near 50% of the population getting even their first shot. -

Phuket Sandbox is failing foreign tourists: tourism official
connda replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
It was just today that I read that tourist feel like they were "conned" into coming here. Yeah well, sorry - did you do your homework before coming? The regulatory nightmare to enter the country should have been the red-flag to convinced any sane person that New Normal Thailand isn't Old Normal Thailand. Which reminds me of the farang lass who told an interviewer a few weeks back that she was bored out of her mind because there was literally nothing to do. Another who failed to do their homework before spending good money for nothing. You can imagine the glowing reports these folks will tell their friends and family when they return to their own slice of hell. -

Vaccines are only recognized as effective for five months <laughs>. Yeah, they are determine to kill the geese laying golden eggs. But hey! The Indians will be coming in droves! Lol. ???? This will be humorous come Feb 2022. Excuses and endless finger-pointing as well as new-and-improved, doomed-for-failure-from-the-start schemes by the dozens. I said it a few months back. Come Songkran 2022 it won't look any different in Thailand than it did a year previous. Possibly worse. And nothing here to attract sane tourists. -
Is Talugas part of two-pronged strategy by anti-government protesters?
connda replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
So we can attribute that statement of fact to your wife? Is she a reporter for Reuters or AP? -
Well, they'd just point out what I'm going to point out: It's a stretch to believe a sample size of 1510 people is representative of the nation as a whole. Personally I don't put much stock in polls.

New entry rules for Phuket to come into effect Sept 1
connda replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Redefine what a resident is, toss out the large numbers of migrates working on the island, toss out those who live off island but who work on the island, massage the numbers and "Tada!" 70% Unfortunately the reality is that the 70% is a spun number that doesn't reflect the dynamics on the ground. This is the problem with power junkies who depend on the optics of marketing and propaganda to maintain their grip on the reins of power. Eventually people see through the Big Lies and the power elites kick into CYA and Finger-pointing modes.
