  1. Yeah, he smokes too much (listen to his gravelly voice) and downs too many pints while seeming to pi$$ himself laughing in the pub. Reminds me of Kamala Harris (the cackler). But if Reform can find themselves a credible leader, they will be the official opposition in 2029....
  2. Everyone knows (that buyer's remorse follows on these victories), but the political pendulum is slowly lurching RIGHT (see US, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Austria) but a right that used to be solid left!! (See England.)
  3. yes -it runs from December 1st to mid- to late-April.
  4. Absolutely correct. Shameful that so few sports bodies had the basic common sense to introduce this ban years ago. If some city or region wanted, they could have women and men playing together with rules amended to prevent certain kinds of tackles etc. Amateur, Sunday league kind of stuff, but everyone's happy....
  5. Air Canada in December 2022 began a non-stop (using a B787-9) from Vancouver to BKK. It was very successful and seems set to continue (December -April). I nevertheless prefer being able to stop in Taipei or wherever and stretch the legs.
  6. Your hatred of men is unbecoming. Give over.
  7. Dimitrov was a big pal of Stalin's and survived all the purges of the Thirties unscathed. I take it that you don't think that Dimitrov's views of fascism are suspect because of the company he kept? Yet any man who reveals that he voted for Trump is likely to be shunned by Democrat voters, his views on almost any aspect of life being held in contempt. Too bad your Trump hatred syndrome prevents you from giving Trump the benefit of the doubt on what his radicalism is trying to achieve in four short years.
  8. This article, besides being shamelessly mendacious, has been written as if the last four years under the Pravda White House had never existed.
  9. Elgar - cello concerto -- du Pré Beethoven - Misa solemnis (Otto Klemperer) Beethoven Symphs 5 & 7 (Carlos Kleiber) Handel Messiah (Beecham) Shostakovich Symph #10 Sibelius Symphs 1 & 2
  10. Why can't you write proper English? What the eff is a "dement" man? And what the even more eff are these "bags of bricks or cement" that are "trying to rule US"????? Have you spoken to your therapist lately?
  11. This comment is itself a trifle demented. I was under the impression that Trump, far from being "self-appointed", had been elected by over70 million people.....
  12. Apparently not. The "sharp-as-a-tack" Biden was allowed to stumble around Air Force One now and again, so, yes, I guess it's perfectly ok to suffer from dementia and have a low IQ while also being president (though, to be fair to all Democrat voters, this obvious truth was concealed from them by the willing co-operation of the MSM in never mentioning it for four years).
  13. 8th grade?? Yes, I can from your own command of the English language that you would know all about 8th grade English. It's obvious that its complexities have passed you by...
  14. It's really unintelligent to imagine that the people who appear on (say) CNN are actually intelligent. There are only two whom I would call intelligent on CNN: John King and Jake Tapper. All the rest are in one way or another dummies. Take Dana Bash. Please. Or who can forget the ineffable Don Lemon. Or Jeffrey Zoomin (or whatever he was called) -the guy who was told to step down because he was caught masturbating on air. You can easily estimate the intelligence of a host by the follow-up questions he or she may ask a visitor. Or, rather, the LACK of follow-up questions.
  15. This thread wonderfully brings out the worst kind of snobbery, intellectual snobbery, the last resort of small minds (no matter how well educated). I would contend that it was left in the last four years to Fox News to be the only source of what in non-American politics would be called the "opposition". Thus, it was not in the slightest bit jarring to see how badly poor old Joe performed in that debate. A lot of people on that night discovered that they had been lied to consistently by the MSM. That night amounted to elder abuse....(but as a Fox News viewer I had seen his incapacity demonstrated daily for all the last four years).
  16. The suggestion by these representatives of the Thai ruling class to buy US military technology is, for them, perfectly logical: the cost of the products will not affect their bottom line at all. No, the cost will be borne entirely by the taxpayers. Smart. All's Well that Ends Well.
  17. It seems evident that Trump wants to devalue the dollar so that American exports to the rest of the world will become highly favoured and therefore will help to bring down the horrendous mountain of American debt. You can also expect him to urge Jay Powell & co. to lower US interest rates so as to weaken the dollar even further. (If there is a resultant recession, the Fed will lower rates to try and...er....fix it.
  18. Private Eye used to launch squibs at Al Fayed, but refrained from entering the harassment area because of the legal fees that would have bankrupted the Eye. Instead they would frequently mock Fayed's frustration at not being offered a knighthood. Clearly the Royals wanted nothing to do with this Middle-Eastern interloper. The nearest Fayed got to the Royal Family was when his son took up with Princess Diana. At which point Karma intervened....
  19. Just watched episode 7 of the current White Lotus. Whereas the first two seasons were witty and well acted, this, I thought, was utter garbage. Reminded me of those afternoon soap-operas my second ex-wife used to watch, where scene switched to scene monotonously following the latest "development" in someone's "relationship". The only characters who held my interest slightly were the three cougars who had a sexual itch without quite being able to admit it. But perhaps it was their tits (on plentiful show) that made me hesitate to call it quits..
  20. Good for a laugh, I suppose, but really, what are these "interests" that the UK, no longer an imperial power, has to "defend at a moment's notice". This character is as much a buffoon in this job as one of his predecessors, the one with a mop of blond hair.
  21. No, it will require a "crackdown" on earthquakes....
  22. That would have been really hard as I don't have a brother. I did project brotherly feelings on my male cousins which was weird for them as they all had actual brothers. I miss not having a brother and I don't mean for the "incest" part. A most unfortunate sentence there. Or just a Freudian slip?
