All vehicles pose a fire risk - including EV's. However the facts show that EV's pose a much lower risk of fire than ICE vehicles.

There's a couple of interesting videos on YouTube of vehicles trying to drive through a flooded ford on a road in Rufford, Nottinghamshire. One shows a bunch of ICE vehicles that attempt it, and most (apart from some high chassis four-wheel drive type vehicles) experience engine failure as their engines get flooded. Some stop in the water itself, some make it through but then conk out just on the other side. Then there's a compilation of Teslas attempting the same thing and every single one of them gets through without engine problems and is able to drive away down the road on the other side.

Just an update in case anyone is interested. The processing time for UK visit visas seems to have shortened considerably, at least as compared to last year. This year it only took 11 days from my wife handing in her application, to it being approved. This was without paying any extra for expedited processing. See screen capture below.

No indication whatsoever in the report, of what caused the fire. Also, something doesn't sound quite right about this. Why would a showroom selling EV's be storing electric car main battery modules? EV batteries are built in to the underside of the vehicle and a showroom would have no reason (and probably no capability) to remove and store the batteries separate from the vehicle. As far as I'm aware, and unless someone can inform me differently, only an EV manufacturer, authorised EV repair shop, battery swapping station or battery recycling facility would have stores of EV main battery packs.

Well, looking at the article it seems pretty clear that there's a typographical error involved. Either the figure of 640 fires in Q1 2022 alone, or the figure of it being a 32% increase from the previous year, is simply a typo. And I think I know which one it is more likely to be. And as for a more reliable source, I think the EV FireSafe site I posted just above, is probably more reliable than an article with obvious mathematical and/or typographical errors.

Another reason to distrust those figures is that according to the Australian website EV FireSafe, which says it gets its information from various sources, including sourced & verified online sources, interviews, first hand accounts, videos, images, academic & fire agency reports, there were only around 120 EV fires in the entire world in the whole of 2022. OK - yet other reports saying he was an Australian, but born in Austria. Overall, probably more giving his nationality as Australian.

The 4th one - naff all to do with the EV main battery. As per the Nation article below: Smoke from brand new EV caused by a damaged wire In retrospect, it was actually fairly clear from the initial reports of "smoke billowing from under the hood" and the firefighters having difficulty opening the hood to reach the source of the smoke, that the main EV battery was not the issue. The picture below shows firefighters inspecting the smoke and heat-damaged engine compartment, while multiple other photos show the main body of the vehicle and the EV battery module area itself to be quite unaffected.

You don't have to link a bank account to top up the wallet. You have the option to ask it to send a payment request to your mobile banking app although this is only available with some banks, not all. I do it with K+ and it works fine. I prefer it because as others have said, it's quick, easy and you sometimes get discounts or cashback. You only have to give it the phone number associated with your banking app, no account details are required.

I can't speak for other apps but for Kasikorn bank's K+ app, you have to have a SIM in for first use and be working on cellular data only (not WiFi). After that you could presumably remove the SIM.

They don't always get it wrong, but they do so with remarkable frequency. I've read at least four stories in the last few months where they've made this mistake. That doesn't mean they got it wrong this time but based on past performance, I'd say there's a reasonable chance of it.

Again, just to reiterate - there is still no evidence that the fire on the ship was caused by an EV. At least one report seemed to indicate that the fire started on a deck where there no EV's (although its claim that no EV's were burnt seems to be wide of the mark). Still, the cause of the fire remains unknown.

According to the Siam Rath article linked to in the OP (and the OP itself) there is video evidence of him having sex with a 16 year-old. Under the law that was quoted, it is a crime to, "engage in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign country with a person under the age of 18 ..." So unless they are all lying about the video that is the sex crime that he committed.

It is an issue, but possibly less so than the example given earlier of an ICE vehicle that caught fire while parked up at a petrol station. Based on the published pictures, reports and the preliminary findings of the BYD engineers, this was not actually a fire (there was overheating and smoke, but no actual flames) and it started in the car's 12V battery, not in the main EV battery. The overheating is of course still an issue, but the facts that a) it was not an actual fire and b) did not involve the main EV battery would seem to make this less concerning than it might have appeared at first blush.

I don't think you read the article properly. Those stats were not for Tesla. The figure for Tesla was given as "one fire for every 328 million kilometres travelled." The figure of 5 fires per 1.6 billion kilometers was for EV's in general.

Under the US PROTECT Act (which has already been quoted on here at least twice, that doesn't matter. It's still a crime in the US and he can still be prosecuted for it.

I think it does. I just tried and got the same message. However when the bill is due and there is an outstanding balance, it shows it.

Also, there may be other apps you could use to check, if you have them. On my phone, I can use either the Kasikorn bank K+ app, True Money, Lazada Wallet or Rabbit Line pay to check whether there's an outstanding balance on any given PEA account.
