Question on Non Imm O Visa
GroveHillWanderer replied to bluebanana's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The last couple of times I got my one year extension of permit to stay, immigration put a stamp in my passport reminding me that I need a re-entry permit if leaving the country during the validity of my extension (and to do 90-day reports). You could check your passport to see if there's such a stamp in it. You can get a single or multiple re-entry permit. 1,000 Baht for single and 3,800 Baht for multiple, as far as I'm aware. -
Depends entirely on the individual.

If that's an oblique reference to a Covid vaccine being implicated then he'd have to be incredibly unlucky for that to have been the case. The vast majority of cases of myocarditis after Covid vaccination have been "mild and self-limiting." As per Our World in Data figures, as of December 31, 2021 around 9 billion doses of Covid vaccines had been given, and according to the Nature article below: (And that's reported, not proven). Clan politics is bad for Thai democracy

Coups are an essential part of which process? Not the democratic process (which is what this thread is about) - that's for sure. -
Great Wall Signs Deal With Thailand to Reduce EV Prices

Shouldn't be a problem. For instance, here's a map of charging points close to my current location in Hua Hin. Only one of them is an MG dealer. -
Cabinet Approves Purchase of Paxlovid Antiviral Pills
GroveHillWanderer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Supplies of Paxlovid are limited - even in the US they are having problems getting supplies to patients who require it, quickly enough. Additionally, it is only recommended for patients "who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19, including hospitalization or death" according to the US FDA. As far as I can tell it is not a medicine that should be available without being prescribed by a medical professional and should be reserved for cases of true clinical need. Allowing it to be freely sold over the counter could mean it's not available for the people who really need it. -
Spread of dengue fever warned in Thailand
GroveHillWanderer replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It does seem that last year had an unusually low number of Dengue-related deaths. For example, from 2014-2018 an average of roughly 88 people per year died of dengue in Thailand. Mortality Due to Dengue Diseases in Thailand 2014 – 2018 Looking at those numbers, 3 deaths in the first 3 months of this year seems pretty low, comparatively speaking. -
Not necessarily - as the article below points out, a growing number of scientists think 4th doses may not be needed for at least 4-5 years (possibly longer). Got a Covid booster? You probably won't need another for a long time. Interestingly enough, while the Pfizer CEO has said a 4th dose is necessary, the Moderna president seems to disagree (more or less). While the Omicron strain of Covid does seem less deadly than the preceding ones, when taken in the round, Covid has proven much more deadly than the flu. In a little over two years, this virus has officially caused the deaths of something around 6 million people worldwide (although the latest estimates based on excess mortality figures put the number at over 18 million). COVID's Death Toll 3 Times Worse Than Official Counts Even at the lower figure though, that still comes out at nearly 3 million per year, or roughly 5 to 10 times worse than the flu. WHO data puts the yearly toll of flu at 290,000 to 650,000 deaths, globally. COVID-19 vs the Flu

Not sure what you're on about here - most countries have laws that allow the seizure of an individual's assets when that country's authorities consider it appropriate. In the US for instance they have the Magnitsky Act, passed in 2016, which applies globally and authorizes the U.S. government to sanction individuals, freeze their assets, and ban them from entering the US. The EU no doubt has similar laws.

Actually, reading the article in Thai Rath (via Google Translate, but still) it doesn't seem totally clear whether she was pregnant or not. The article says her family claimed she was suffering from an ectopic pregnancy but it doesn't say that this was confirmed by any qualified medical practitioner. Because if she was actually pregnant, then the statement that there was no sexual assault, is clearly nonsensical. Some more clarity is required, methinks.

Those are the side effects of taking excessive amounts of Kratom, or taking it regularly over a long period. Almost anything can be harmful if taken in large enough amounts - even water. Ever heard of water toxemia? Even some of the most commonly used medicines have a list of side effects as long as your arm. Here are just some of the documented side effects of paracetamol: Liver failure Nausea Vomiting Abdominal pain Diarrhea Constipation Dyspepsia Enlarged abdomen Anemia Postoperative hemorrhage Thrombocytopenia Pulmonary edema Hypoxia Pleural effusion Hypertension Hypotension Tachycardia And that's not even all of them. In addition, excessive amounts of paracetamol can cause death. You may not be aware of this (few people are, in my experience) but regular prescription drugs kill hundreds of thousands of people every year. Each year in the US, about 128,000 people die from drugs prescribed to them. In Europe, the European Commission estimates that adverse reactions from prescription drugs cause 200,000 deaths per year. No, they're not the same. In the same way that a factory that produces cars is not a car.
