  1. What do you base that understanding on? Genuinely interested.
  2. I'm not sure how accurate their reporting is, but Finland's second biggest newspaper, Ilta Sanomat, is saying that there's a power struggle currently going on behind the scenes in the Kremlin. Headline and quote below rendered into English by Google Translate. Sources for IS: Fierce power struggle going on in Kremlin Of course this could be total BS, but things could get interesting if it turns out to be true.
  3. Just because there are different routes by which mpox can spread, does not mean it can spread easily. In fact, as the info from the UK government website linked to below states: Mpox: background information Also, as I mentioned on another thread about mpox, both the WHO and other medical experts have been at pains to stress that mpox "is not the new Covid."
  4. You have your own polling numbers? How does that work?
  5. The 60-odd failed lawsuits that Trump's acolytes brought to challenge the 2020 election results would seem to indicate you're wrong about it not being legitimate.
  6. I did plenty of research. As I said, the 85% figure was the finding of "previous studies." I also provided a link to a second article that clearly states a smallpox vaccination may not provide lifelong protection against mpox. However, what I could not find, was any article or study that says a childhood smallpox vaccination does not provide any protection, as you were implying. What is accurate, and what I stated, is that the level of protection against mpox from a childhood smallpox vaccination is not fully established.
  7. That's not quite accurate. While all of the strains of mpox can be spread via pulmonary secretions that only happens by being in very close to proximity to an infected person and breathing in directly exhaled droplets, and it is not the normal means of spread. So mpox is not really airborne in the same way as diseases such as flu or Covid. It does not linger in the air, nor travel any appreciable distance through the air. As the Reuters article below states: Why is mpox an emergency again, and how worried should I be?
  8. It's not that clearly established. Previous studies have indicated that a childhood vaccination against smallpox probably does provide a good level of protection. Adults with smallpox vaccine may have immunity from monkeypox Now, some of the people infected with mpox in the more recent outbreaks had been vaccinated against smallpox in childhood which seems to indicate any immunity they had, had waned over time. However many of them were also HIV positive, which means their immunity would have waned more quickly than would otherwise be the case. Smallpox vaccines may not protect against monkeypox for life
  9. I'm not sure who you think is trying to create a world wide panic. Certainly, the WHO and other medical experts are not. For instance, in a recent press release the WHO made a point of saying that this is not the new Covid. World Health Organization stresses that mpox is not ‘the new Covid' Why mpox is 'concerning' but not the next Covid, according to experts It is thought that being vaccinated against smallpox does confer some immunity against mpox (though exactly how much is not fully established) but having had chickenpox does not since despite the similarity in name, chickenpox and mpox are not related.
  10. There is no 60 day tourist visa available at Suvarnabhumi airport. What is available (as long as the person is from one of the countries that are eligible for it) is a 60 day visa exempt entry. There is no cost for this, no need to go to a special desk, and you do indeed just present your passport at the normal immigration booths. The list of the countries that can get the 60 day visa exempt entry is on the link below. Tourism Thailand announces 60-day visa exemption for 90 countries
  11. Not in my understanding of the term. Enforcement can be any measure taken by authorities to ensure that people comply with established rules, regulations or societal norms. Fining people for not complying with 90 day reports absolutely constitutes an enforcement measure, as far as I'm concerned. Also, enforcement doesn't require that penalties be severe, only that penalties be applied.
  12. I'm talking about the Ukrainian forces in Kursk. Just for the avoidance of doubt, I am fully on Ukraine's side in this conflict, however the Ukrainians have made it pretty clear (IMHO) they are not planning to try to reach Moscow since they have cut off the very bridges they would need to use to get there.
  13. It does seem as if Hua Hin Hospital (the local government hospital) is moving towards a GP type model. Each of the last 3 times I've been there (and each time for different conditions) they've told me I have to see a "general doctor" first and that doctor then referred me to the specialist for the type of medical condition I was complaining of.
  14. It seems unlikely that the Ukrainians intend to try and reach Moscow. If they did, why blow up the bridges (and why keep blowing up the pontoons) they would need to use for their forces to advance in that direction?
  15. That's true - there's some totally contradictory information on this thread from the OP. The thread title says the kid is living in Thailand. Later on the OP says the kid is living in Sweden. Makes it a little confusing.
  16. Are you sure about that? According to the article below, it is illegal to euthanize dogs in Thailand unless they have rabies. Thailand's Stray Dogs - Off the streets
  17. So you don't think that for example, advocating for a white ethnostate is an extreme position, located well to the right of the spectrum in politics?
  18. Yeah, like this bunch, apparently. Republicans Carry Around Cups of Fake J.D. Vance Semen
  19. I'd be surprised if the dogs were to be killed. The public here have a deep-seated cultural and religious-based aversion to euthanising animals.
  20. Seems like his supporters have other things to keep them occupied. And to think some people were accusing them of being weird. As if. Republicans Carry Around Cups of Fake J.D. Vance Semen
  21. In my experience, Hua Hin is one such immigration office. Every time I've done my yearly extension, they've always done me a new 90 day report.
  22. She's talking about the parliamentarians who voted for her. Under Thailand's electoral system, the people do not vote for the prime minister directly, as is the case in numerous parliamentary systems.
  23. We already know the answer to that - yes, they can.
  24. Revolut may not be a fully-fledged UK bank just yet, but they're well on the way to becoming one. Revolut receives UK banking licence
  25. Just off the top of my head. Trump has cheated on his wives, he has cheated many subcontractors who worked for him (sending some into bankruptcy), he has cheated the people who signed up for worthless courses at his university, he has cheated banks by overvaluing his assets to get better loan deals, he has cheated the IRS by undervaluing the same assets, he has cheated multiple venues where his rallies were held (by not paying them), he has cheated many of his lawyers (by not paying them). Oh, and he also cheats at golf - admittedly a less serious matter but it just goes to show that he cheats at every single opportunity he gets.
