  1. I couple of delayed transactions and you're thinking "time to look for another company" ! Are always so quick to throw your toys out the pram?
  2. Who said anything about a magical safety radius? My point was you posted a list of earthquakes of magnitude 9.4 down to 7.7 as if there were simply comparable, which they aren't. Then the factor of the distance from the epicentre determines, to a large extent, the chance of damage, the further away the lesser the likelihood of damage or casualties. But the underlying geology is a significant factor, in the case of Bangkok this is unconsolidated coastal marine and lagoon sediments, unconsolidated sediments serve to amplify the ground motion. Which is the reason an earthquake over 1000km away was still damaging.
  3. Your comparison is largely nonsensical, beyond the fact Bangkok was over 1,000km from the epicentre, the Richter scale is logarithmic, so a magnitude 9 earthquake is a 1000 times more powerful than a magnitude 7.
  4. Community? I thought it was just a mish-mash of odds and sods, most of whom I would never wish to encounter in real life.
  5. 12 different vaccines, really. If there is indeed any truth in this then surely the issue is with the hospital administering that many shots at the same time.
  6. They're cowed into submission for fear of having the social media StormTrumpers set on them and their family. For the most part they're spineless cowards, fearful of losing their place at the trough.
  7. A handful of times per year, but please, hash browns have absolutely no place in a full English.
  8. I don't think so
  9. I was actually responding to your question with my own experience, not everything is about you.
  10. Did you go, are you OK?
  11. I wouldn't be in a hurry to do anything, and certainly "living there for a while" is no grounds for a purchase, rent as said numerous times above. Travel around live a few months each in several cities and resort areas. As the saying goes "act in haste, repent at leisure" there's no rush, Thailand's not going anywhere.
  12. Not thousands, but hundreds, I lived and worked in Indonesia for eight years and was in Bengkulu, Sumatra for the Sept 2007 8.4 magnitude earthquake. The aftershocks including a couple of 7 and plenty of 6s continued for over six months. That's one day I won't forget, and whenever I see news reports of similar earthquakes I feel for those affected and fully understand what they're feeling, and certainly "Nice one!" doesn't spring to mind. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Bengkulu_earthquakes
  13. What a bunch of gangsters, and I don't mean the inmates.
  14. BYD have a plant in Rayong that currently builds 150,000 cars a year. SAIC Motor have plant in Laem Chabang to build its MG Cars. Built in Thailand, there's no import tax.
  15. Nationwide and Monzo are both working fine too.
  16. No, I just logged into my account from the laptop not a problem, however I usually use the app because it's far easier and more secure, and the apps working fine too. Have you tried with a different browser, and if using a VPN then try logging in with the VPN off.
  17. Thirty years ago I was working in Malaysia, Thailand was for visa runs, but I realised it would make a great base for work regionally in SE Asia.
  18. We've been twenty years in Hat Yai, it's a very functional city, probably not the prettiest. and it's a bit short on history, being only as old as the railway, but we like it.
  19. Bloomsbury International School out toward Hat Yai Airport might be worth considering https://bloomsbury.ac.th/
  20. Is there a plot?
